AB  - Klimatske promene, degradacija zemljišta i gubitak biodiverziteta predstavljaju sve
veće pretnje za čovečanstvo, a zaštita zemljišta ima ključnu ulogu u njihovom rešavanju [1].
Jedan od načina za smanjenje koncentracije ugljenika u atmosferi i ublažavanje efekata
klimatskih promena je proces vezivanja ugljenika u zemljištu, poznat i kao sekvestracija.
Ovaj proces podrazumeva skladištenje organskog ugljenika iz ostataka biljaka u zemljište,
sintezom i mineralizacijom zemljišne organske materije (OM) [2]. Iako je ovaj proces
relativno spor, organskog ugljenika ima više u površinskom sloju zemljišta nego u atmosferi
i nadzemnoj vegetaciji zajedno. Nažalost, procenjeno je da je skoro polovina svetskog fonda
zemljišta degradirana u nekom obliku, što predstavlja ozbiljan izazov u održavanju procesa
vezivanja ugljenika [3]. Organska materija je ključna za plodnost i normalne funkcije
zemljišta. Pored toga što je izvor hraniva za biljke, čuva strukturu zemljišta, sprečava
eroziju, povećava sposobnost zemljišta da zadrži vodu, održava biodiverzitet i utiče na
sudbinu zagađujućih materija. Stoga međunarodna zajednica intenzivno radi na istraživanju
i promociji praksi koje doprinose očuvanju organske materije u zemljištu [4].

AB  - This study examined the influence of compost application on alterations in soil organic matter levels and the content of labile organic matter fractions in soil during maize sowing. Due to the lack of organic fertilizers, industrial compost is being investigated as an alternative. The research aims to identify relevant soil quality and fertility indicators and their effects on agricultural production. Short-term compost application as an organic fertilizer may increase the content of labile organic matter fractions in the soil, especially in less fertile plots. The results indicate a significant influence of compost application on soil quality, confirming its role as a nutrient source and enhancer of soil physical, chemical, and biological properties. This highlights its potential for preserving soil quality and supporting agricultural production.
AB  - U ovom istraživanju ispitivao se uticaj primene komposta na promene nivoa organske materije i sadržaja labilne frakcije organske materije u zemljištu pri setvi kukuruza. Usled nedostatka organskog đubriva, kao alternativa se ispituje kompost dobijen na industrijski način. Cilj istraživanja je identifikacija relevantnih pokazatelja kvaliteta i plodnosti zemljišta i efekti na poljoprivrednu proizvodnju. Kratkoročna primena komposta kao organskog đubriva može povećati sadržaj labilne frakcije organske materije u zemljištu, posebno na siromašnijim parcelama. Rezultati ukazuju na značajan uticaj primene komposta na kvalitet zemljišta, potvrđujući njegovu ulogu kao izvora hraniva i poboljšanja fizičkih, hemijskih i bioloških svojstava zemljišta To ukazuje na njegov potencijal za očuvanje kvaliteta zemljišta i podršku poljoprivrednoj proizvodnji.

AB  - Organska materija je esencijalna komponenta zemlјišta, a čine je sve žive i mrtve materije stvorene biološkim putem, koje se nalaze na zemlјištu ili na njegovoj površini. Živi deo organske materije zove se edafon, a izumrli deo koji se nalazi u neprekidnim procesima transformacije humus. Dakle, u širem smislu, humus je sva mrtva organska materija u zemlјištu, a u užem humusom se smatraju humusne materije nastale u procesu humifikacije, mikrobiološkom razgradnjom i nastankom novih kompleksnih organskih materija.

AB  - Uticaj korišćenja zemljišta na svojstva zemljišta je dobro dokumentovan i procenjen kao dominantni antropogeni pritisak koji izaziva degradaciju zemljišta. Prirodan sklop zemljišta je u današnje vreme, očuvan na veoma malim površinama, najčešće u sklopu zaštićenih prirodnih dobara. Cilj ovog rada je da se pruži generalna i brza procena uticaja načina korišćenja zemljišta na zemljišne karakteristike na primeru Opštine Beočin. U radu je poređeno zemljište opštine pod poljoprivrednom biljnom proizvodnjom i šumsko zemljište nacionalnog parka (NP). Način korišćenja zemljišta se odrazio na zemljišnu pH reakciju. U šumskom zemljištu pH reakcija varira u opsegu od 3,42 do 5,50, dok u poljoprivrednom u opsegu 6,42 do 7,45. Posledično, sadržaj karbonata je u šumskom zemljištu manji od 0,5%, dok je u poljoprivrednom na jednoj lokaciji livade sadržaj manji od 0,5 %, a na ostalim obradivim površinama u opsegu 4,3 do čak 33,9%. Šumsko zemljište je značajno bogatije organskom materijom (prosek 4.28%) u odnosu na poljoprivredno zemljište (1,86%).
AB  - The impact of land use on soil properties is well documented and marked as the dominant anthropogenic pressure resulting in soil degradation. Nowadays, the natural composition of the land is preserved on very small areas, most often as part of protected natural assets. The aim of this paper is to provide a global and fast assessment of the impact of land use on land characteristics on the example of the Municipality of Beočin. The paper compares the land of the municipality under agricultural crop production and the forest land of the National Park (NP). The way of land use affected the soil pH reaction. In forest soil pH reaction varies in the range of 3.42 to 5.50, while in agricultural land in the range of 6.42 to 7.45. Consequently, the content of free carbonates in forest land is less than 0.5%, while in agricultural land at one location of the meadow the content is less than 0.5%, and in other arable land in the range of 4.3 to as much as 33.9%. Forest land is significantly richer in organic matter (average 4.28%) compared to agricultural land (1.86%).

abstract = "Uticaj korišćenja zemljišta na svojstva zemljišta je dobro dokumentovan i procenjen kao dominantni antropogeni pritisak koji izaziva degradaciju zemljišta. Prirodan sklop zemljišta je u današnje vreme, očuvan na veoma malim površinama, najčešće u sklopu zaštićenih prirodnih dobara. Cilj ovog rada je da se pruži generalna i brza procena uticaja načina korišćenja zemljišta na zemljišne karakteristike na primeru Opštine Beočin. U radu je poređeno zemljište opštine pod poljoprivrednom biljnom proizvodnjom i šumsko zemljište nacionalnog parka (NP). Način korišćenja zemljišta se odrazio na zemljišnu pH reakciju. U šumskom zemljištu pH reakcija varira u opsegu od 3,42 do 5,50, dok u poljoprivrednom u opsegu 6,42 do 7,45. Posledično, sadržaj karbonata je u šumskom zemljištu manji od 0,5%, dok je u poljoprivrednom na jednoj lokaciji livade sadržaj manji od 0,5 %, a na ostalim obradivim površinama u opsegu 4,3 do čak 33,9%. Šumsko zemljište je značajno bogatije organskom materijom (prosek 4.28%) u odnosu na poljoprivredno zemljište (1,86%)., The impact of land use on soil properties is well documented and marked as the dominant anthropogenic pressure resulting in soil degradation. Nowadays, the natural composition of the land is preserved on very small areas, most often as part of protected natural assets. The aim of this paper is to provide a global and fast assessment of the impact of land use on land characteristics on the example of the Municipality of Beočin. The paper compares the land of the municipality under agricultural crop production and the forest land of the National Park (NP). The way of land use affected the soil pH reaction. In forest soil pH reaction varies in the range of 3.42 to 5.50, while in agricultural land in the range of 6.42 to 7.45. Consequently, the content of free carbonates in forest land is less than 0.5%, while in agricultural land at one location of the meadow the content is less than 0.5%, and in other arable land in the range of 4.3 to as much as 33.9%. Forest land is significantly richer in organic matter (average 4.28%) compared to agricultural land (1.86%).",

AB  - Zbog veoma povoljnih zemljišnih i klimatskih uslova Aleksandrovačka župa dobro je poznata kao vinogradarski rejon, koji daje visoko kvalitetna i vrhunska vina. Pored vinove loze, u ovom rejonu pogodni su uslovi za povrtarsku proizvodnju, posebno krastavaca kornišona. Plodnost zemljišta predstavlja lako pristupačne količine biljnih hraniva u zemljištu. Sistem kontrole plodnosti zemljišta i upotrebe đubriva zasnovan 1980. godine, obuhvata kontrolu svih faktora koji određuju plodnost zemljišta i dejstvo đubriva, odnosno preko ishrane utiču na rast, razviće i prinose biljaka, kao i mere kojima se ovi usmeravaju u cilju ostvarenja visoke i stabilne proizvodnje uz primenu ekonomičnosti i zaštitu životne sredine. Osnovna hemijska svojsva kao što su pH vrednost i sadržaj kalcijum karbonata su činioci koji se ne menjaju značajno u kratkom vremenskom periodu, kao što je jedna vegetacija. Međutim, kod pH vrednosti je primećeno blago povećanje u svim uzorcima. To se može objasniti upotrebom fiziološki alkalnih đubriva, s obzirom da je zemljište u ovom rejonu blago kiselo i neutralno.
AB  - Due to the very favourable soil and climatic conditions, the Župa of Aleksandrovac is well known as a wine-growing region, which produces high quality and top wines. In addition to vines, in this region are suitable conditions for vegetable production, especially gherkins. Soil fertility is readily available amounts of plant nutrients in the soil. The System of soil fertility control and fertilizer use, founded in 1980, includes the control of all factors that determine soil fertility and the effect of fertilizers, actually through nutrition affect the growth, development and yield of plants, as well as measures to achieve high and stable production, with the application of economy and environmental protection. Basic chemical properties such as pH value and calcium carbonate content are factors that do not change significantly in a short period of time, such as one vegetation. However, a slight increase in pH was observed in all samples. This can be explained by the use of physiologically alkaline fertilizers, since the soil in this region is slightly acidic and neutral.

AB  - Proizvodnja kvalitetnog grožđa i visokokvalitetnog vina tipičnog za određeno vinogradarsko područje, temelji se na ekološkim, odnosno abiotičkim i antropogenim faktorima terroir-a. Ovaj proces započinje optimalnim korišćenjem zemljišta, a sve u skladu s konkretnim, odnosno lokalnim uslovima sredine. Budući da je vinova loza višegodišnja, dugovečna biljka, optimalno korišćenje zemljišta u vinogradarstvu je posebno važno u cilju dobijanja stabilnih prinosa i grožđa odgovarajućeg kvaliteta. S obzirom na to da ova plemenita biljka razvija moćan korenov sistem, zemljišnim uslovma mora se pristupiti planski. Iz tog razloga, pri podizanju vinograda, veoma je važno optimizovati sve neophodne uslove uređenja zemljišta za gajenje, počevši od drenaže zemljišta, đubrenja, protiverozionih mera, kalcizacije, pa sve do izbora odgovarajuće sorte i (često zaboravljene) podloge vinove loze. Izbor lozne podloge, zajedno sa sortom vinove loze kao antropogenog faktora terroir-a, zasniva se na konkretnim karakteristikama abiotičkih faktora terroir-a vinogradarskih mikropodručja, agrobiološkim svojstvima nakalemljenih sorti i drugim ljudskim faktorima uključujući i zahteve tržišta.

Pedološke i agrohemijske karakteristike zemljišta pod vinogradima Rasinskog okruga

AB  - Dva najzastupljenija tipa zemljišta, eutrični kambisoli i vertisol zajedno pokrivaju tek manje od 50% površine Rasinskog okruga. Od ostalih tipova zemljišta na manjim površinama zastupljeni su i luvisol (ilimerizovano zemljište), podzol, distrični kambisol (smeđe kiselo zemljište) i regosol (sirozem na rastresitom supstratu). Na neznatnim površinama prostiru se i rigosol, koluvijum, kalkomelanosol (krečnjačko – dolomitna crnica), litosol (kamenjar), humofluvisol (aluvijalno livadsko zemljište), pseudoglej i rendzina. Ipak, karakteristika tipova zemljišta Rasinskog okruga je manja zastupljenost dva najdominantnija tipa zemljišta, tj. više je izražen pedodiverzitet. Zanimljivo je da je na Pedološkoj karti uočeno vrlo malo učešće rigosola (podtip vitisol), tj. tipa zemljišta karakterističnog za vinogradarsku proizvodnju (svega 1,21%). Odabir lokacija (vinogradarskih lokaliteta i/ili mikropodručja) istraživanja bazirao se na načelu reprezentativnosti prirodnih karakteristika i potencijala za proizvodnju vinskog grožđa vinogradarskih područja Rasinskog okruga. Za definisanje bližih lokacija, korišćeni su podaci na osnovu obrade: digitalizovane pedološke karte Srbije, granice rasprostiranja Rasinskog okruga, vinogradarskog rejona Tri Morave s vinogorjima, kao i proizvodnih parcela, odnosno vinograda. Osim toga, rukovodilo se i kriterijumom odabira starijih zasada vinove loze s lokalnim, odnosno autohtonim sortama, u cilju sagledavanja i ocene antropogenog uticaja na zemljišne procese u dužem proteklom periodu, kao i brojnosti postojećih vinogradarskih parcela po vinogorjima. Na osnovu ovih ulaznih parametara, odabrano je 17 ciljanih lokacija uzorkovanja u okviru devet katastarskih opština.

AB  - Soil compaction is important cause of its degradation that leads to decreased water and nutrient accessibility to plants. As a consequence, root growth is reduced, resulting in yield decrease. Cover crops and intercrops can have positive effects on soil compaction, but cropping management adaption is required. In sunflower production soil compaction is not frequently analyzed, but under the current and projected changes of climate more attention must be given to this problem. Therefore, the aim of this research was to assess the effect of intercropping of sunflower and legumes on soil compaction. Three different NS sunflower hybrids were intercropped with common vetch, red clover or alfalfa, whereas sole cropping of sunflower was control. Trial was set up at Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops, Rimski Šančevi, Serbia. Soil compaction was analyzed based on resistance to penetration of the penetrologger cone into the soil, and the soil water content (Vol%). Penetration resistance was determined using an Eijkelkamp Penetrologger up to 80 cm, and data processing was done with Penetroviewer 6.03 software. The lowest percentage of soil moisture, at depth up to 20 cm, was measured in alfalfa and sunflower intercrop (21.7%), and the highest on the control plot (26.8%), as a result of absence of intercropping system.

AB  - Analiza i praćenje kvaliteta fizičkih svojstava zemljišta omogućava korišćenje zemljišta na održiv način. Zapreminska masa zemljišta je sklona promenama, posebno u obradivom sloju, gde načini korišćenja i klimatski faktori tokom vegetacionog perioda utiču na sleganje zemljišta i menjaju njegovu vrednost. Zbog toga je neophodno detaljnije razmotriti neke faktore koji dovode do varijacije ove fizičke osobine. Zbog nedovoljnih informacija poslednjih godina sve je više istraživanja o uticaju ozimih međuuseva na fizička svojstva zemljišta. Poređenjem prosečnih vrednosti po dubini i odabirom ozimih međuueva, utvrđeno je da postoje statistički značajne razlike između godina uzorkovanja (jesen 2016. i 2020.). Najniža vrednost zapreminske mase na dubini od 0-20 cm utvrđena je na varijanti sa ozimim graškom i tritikaleom (1,31 g cm-3), a najveća vrednost na kontrolnoj varijanti (1,45 g cm-3).
AB  - Analysis and monitoring of the quality of physical properties of soil enables the use of soil in a sustainable way. Bulk density of the soil is prone to changes, especially in the arable layer, where management practices and climatic factors during the vegetation period affect the subsidence of the soil and change its value. Therefore it is necessary to consider in more detail some factors that lead to variation of this physical property. In recent years, there has been increasing research into the impact of winter CC on the physical soil properties. By comparing average values by depth and selection of winter CC, there are statistically significant differences between sampling years (autumn 2016 and 2020). The lowest value of the bulk density at a depth of 0-20 cm was determined on the variant WPT (1.31 g cm-3), and the highest value on the control plot (1.45 g cm-3).

AB  - Halomorphic (or saline) soils, are characterized by high concentrations of soluble salts or sodium, or both. Saline soils have unfavorable agricultural properties but provide the natural habitats for a variety of highly specialized plants, animals, and other organisms. It is these special interactions that create the typical landscape of saline soils, known as “slatina”. The aim of this study is to assess and evaluate the geotouristic potential of six of the most attractive slatina sites in the Vojvodina region, Northern Serbia: Jegrička, Slano Kopovo, Rusanda, Okanj, Pečena slatina, and Pašnjaci Velike Droplje. Overall, all analyzed sites have significant tourism potential, based on both natural and tourist values. In addition to the tourism potentials, analyzed sites have high value as a natural endemic ecosystem inhabited with highly specialized plants and birds.

AB  - Due to specific soil properties and management practices, soils in vineyards are sensitive to degradation. The aims of this study were to examine (i) the state of soil organic carbon (SOC) in vineyards compared to other agricultural land, (ii) the influence of different fertilization strategies and soil type on SOC content and (iii) the rate of SOC change over time and potential of deep tillage for SOC preservation in subsoil. The study was carried out at 16 representative vineyard locations of the Tri Morave region, which represents the largest vine growing region in Serbia. The analyzed area included 56 vineyard plots. Results showed that SOC stocks in the topsoil and subsoil were lower than the average for agricultural land in Serbia. The soil type was an important predictor of carbon storage in the topsoil. An adequate application of inorganic fertilizers or green manure combined with farmyard manure initially resulted in the highest SOC contents. Continuous application of inorganic fertilizer without organic amendments has led to a decrease of SOC in topsoil. High rates of SOC stock change in topsoil accompanied a rapid reduction of SOC in the earlier stage of cultivation. In all investigated subsoils, SOC increased, except for unfertilized vineyards. Deep tillage has the potential to preserve SOC in the deeper soil layer and prevent carbon loss from the topsoil. More attention should be paid to the soil conservation practices to meet environmental sustainability of viticulture.

Nickel content in field crop seeds and agricultural land of Central Serbia

AB  - Nickel (Ni) is an essential nutrient for animals and it has an important
role in many physiological and biochemical processes in higher plants. At the same time, it
belongs to the group of potentially toxic elements (PTEs). The aim of this study is to determine
Ni concentrations in the soil-plant relationships between the main crops and agricultural
land in Central Serbia. A total of 71 bulked soil samples are taken from the topsoil at
the depth of 0–30 cm in an area belonging to 6 statistical districts of Central Serbia. A total
of 71 seed samples are collected during harvest as an average sample of seed from each
observed plot, of which 26 are corn, 19 sunflower, 17 wheat, and 9 soybean samples. Analysis
of the collected samples includs the main soil parameters and Ni total and available
concentrations in soil, as well as Ni total concentration in seeds. The median value of total
Ni concentration in soil is 44.8 mg kg-1, close to MAC. The median nickel concentration in
wheat and corn seeds is 0.5 mg kg-1, while soybean and sunflower seeds have higher median
Ni content of 8.40 and 10.26 mg kg-1, respectively. Bioaccumulation factors in seeds (BAF)
in the present study ranges from 0.013 (corn) to 0.256 (soybean). According to statistically
significant differences, all crops have equal total NiT concentration in soil, while the available
NiA concentration differs in soils under corn and sunflower cultivars. Based on Ni
concentration in seed and BAF, two groups are distinguished − the group of soybeans and
sunflowers with higher Ni content and the group of wheat and corn with lower Ni content in
seed. The obtained differences confirm that plant species have a significant role in the bioaccumulation
of Ni. The determined BAF parameter is in a statistically significant negative
correlation with the total Ni content in soil in all observed crops except maize. However, the
BAF parameter for maize alone is in a statistically significant negative correlation with the
readily available Ni concentration in the soil. The obtained correlations indicate that higher
Ni concentration in soil causes lower Ni concentration in seeds, which might be due to the
activation of plant defense mechanism to preserve the reproductive organs ‒ seeds ‒ from harmful effects. Based on the obtained results, Ni concentration in seeds of the main field
crops in Central Serbia is safe for feed and food usage. Increased content of Ni found in
agricultural soils in Central Serbia requires constant monitoring for maintaining sustainable
agriculture production.
AB  - Nikal je esencijalni hranljivi element za životinje i ima važnu ulogu u brojnim fiziološkim i biohemijskim procesima viših biljaka, ali istovremeno pripada grupi potencijalno toksičnih elemenata (PTE). Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je da se utvrde koncentracije Ni u relaciji zemljište–biljka između glavnih ratarskih biljnih vrsta i poljoprivrednog zemljišta za centralnu Srbiju. Ukupno je uzeto 71 uzorak zemljišta iz gornjeg sloja zemljišta 0–30 cm, s područja šest statističkih okruga centralne Srbije. Prikupljeno je ukupno 71 uzorak semena tokom žetve kao prosečan uzorak semena sa svake posmatrane parcele, od čega je 26 uzoraka bilo seme kukuruza, 19 suncokreta, 17 pšenice i devet soje. Prikupljeni uzorci analizirani su na osnovne parametra zemljišta i ukupnu i pristupačnu koncentraciju nikla u zemljištu, kao i ukupnu njegovu koncentraciju u semenu. Vrednost medijane za ukupnu koncentraciju nikla u zemljištu bila je 44,8 mg kg-1, što je blizu vrednosti MDK. Srednja koncentracija nikla u semenu pšenice i kukuruza bila je 0,5 mg kg-1, dok je seme soje i suncokreta imalo znatno veći sadržaj Ni od 8,40 odnosno 10,26 mg kg-1. Faktori bioakumulacije u semenu (BAF) u ovoj studiji kretali su se od 0,013 (kukuruz) do 0,256 (soja). Prema statistički značajnim razlikama, sve ratarske biljne vrste imale su jednaku ukupnu koncentraciju NiT u zemljištu, dok su se prema pristupačnoj koncentraciji NiA u zemljištu, međusobno razlikovala zemljišta pod kukuruzom i suncokretom. Na osnovu koncentracije Ni u semenu i BAF-a, jasno se izdvajaju dve grupe: u jednoj grupi su soja i suncokret sa većim sadržajem Ni, dok su u drugoj grupi pšenica i kukuruz sa nižim sadržajem Ni u semenu. Dobijene razlike potvrđuju da biljne vrste imaju značajnu ulogu u bioakumulaciji Ni. Utvrđeni parametar BAF bio je u statistički značajnoj, negativnoj korelaciji sa ukupnim sadržajem Ni u zemljištu za sve posmatrane useve, osim kukuruza. Na osnovu svih dobijenih rezultata, glavne ratarske biljne vrste u centralnoj Srbiji imale su bezbednu koncentraciju nikla u semenu za stočnu i ljudsku hranu. Povećan sadržaj nikla u poljoprivrednom zemljištu centralne Srbije zahteva stalno praćenje u cilju održive poljoprivredne proizvodnje.

role in many physiological and biochemical processes in higher plants. At the same time, it
belongs to the group of potentially toxic elements (PTEs). The aim of this study is to determine
Ni concentrations in the soil-plant relationships between the main crops and agricultural
land in Central Serbia. A total of 71 bulked soil samples are taken from the topsoil at
the depth of 0–30 cm in an area belonging to 6 statistical districts of Central Serbia. A total
of 71 seed samples are collected during harvest as an average sample of seed from each
observed plot, of which 26 are corn, 19 sunflower, 17 wheat, and 9 soybean samples. Analysis
of the collected samples includs the main soil parameters and Ni total and available
concentrations in soil, as well as Ni total concentration in seeds. The median value of total
Ni concentration in soil is 44.8 mg kg-1, close to MAC. The median nickel concentration in
wheat and corn seeds is 0.5 mg kg-1, while soybean and sunflower seeds have higher median
Ni content of 8.40 and 10.26 mg kg-1, respectively. Bioaccumulation factors in seeds (BAF)
in the present study ranges from 0.013 (corn) to 0.256 (soybean). According to statistically
significant differences, all crops have equal total NiT concentration in soil, while the available
NiA concentration differs in soils under corn and sunflower cultivars. Based on Ni
concentration in seed and BAF, two groups are distinguished − the group of soybeans and
sunflowers with higher Ni content and the group of wheat and corn with lower Ni content in
seed. The obtained differences confirm that plant species have a significant role in the bioaccumulation
of Ni. The determined BAF parameter is in a statistically significant negative
correlation with the total Ni content in soil in all observed crops except maize. However, the
BAF parameter for maize alone is in a statistically significant negative correlation with the
readily available Ni concentration in the soil. The obtained correlations indicate that higher
Ni concentration in soil causes lower Ni concentration in seeds, which might be due to the
activation of plant defense mechanism to preserve the reproductive organs ‒ seeds ‒ from harmful effects. Based on the obtained results, Ni concentration in seeds of the main field
crops in Central Serbia is safe for feed and food usage. Increased content of Ni found in
agricultural soils in Central Serbia requires constant monitoring for maintaining sustainable
agriculture production., Nikal je esencijalni hranljivi element za životinje i ima važnu ulogu u brojnim fiziološkim i biohemijskim procesima viših biljaka, ali istovremeno pripada grupi potencijalno toksičnih elemenata (PTE). Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je da se utvrde koncentracije Ni u relaciji zemljište–biljka između glavnih ratarskih biljnih vrsta i poljoprivrednog zemljišta za centralnu Srbiju. Ukupno je uzeto 71 uzorak zemljišta iz gornjeg sloja zemljišta 0–30 cm, s područja šest statističkih okruga centralne Srbije. Changes in the available phosphorus content of the agricultural soil of the Vojvodina Province, Serbia

AB  - The increasing phosphorus fertilizers use in agricultural production requires monitoring of the available phosphorus content in the soil. The AL available concentration of a soil is a key index that can be used to evaluate the P supply capacity of the soil and to estimate the optimal P fertilization rate. The aim of this paper was to examine the changes in the available phosphorus content in agricultural soil of Vojvodina Province, in the framework of soil quality monitoring. The examination included 1600 samples of agricultural soils from representative sites, properly distributed in a 4x4 km squares network. The available phosphorus content was determined by spectrophotometric method in AL extract (Egner and Riehm). The results of the research were compared with the results of the previous project in 1992, in order to detect the tendency of soil quality. The results indicated that soil class with the optimal content (15-25 mg/100 g) covered the largest area (21.4%), while the smallest area (5.4%), included soil with a toxic content (< 100 mg/100 g). The area of soil with very high to harmful content (50-100 mg/100 g) amounted to 5.8%. Compared to results from 1992, the amount of available phosphorus increased in all types of soil by 4.67 mg/100 g, except in the humofluvisol. The area of poorly supplied and soils with phosphorus content over 50 mg/100g has been increased. Research indicated inadequate application of fertilizers compared to the previous period.

AB  - The aim of this study was to investigate whether different priming treatments could affect emergence, speed of emergence and yield of freshly produced and aged maize seeds sown at different depths. Two lots of parental maize line A634 produced in the previous season were used as seed source, and twenty-year-old seed. After priming with distilled water and 0.5% KNO3 solution, the seed was sown at four depths. Results showed that freshly produced seeds did not benefit from priming treatments. Reaction of the aged seeds differed depending on the priming treatment. Results indicated that priming with KNO3 should be avoided in aged seeds of A634 because of its detrimental effect on the emergence and yield. Hydropriming induced higher percentage of emerged plants and faster emergence, but with no effect on yield. Reaction to priming treatments varied with sowing depth, which should not exceed 5.0 cm for parental line A634 according to this study.
AB  - Cilj ovog istraživanja je bio da se ispita da li različiti predtretmani mogu uticati na broj niklih biljaka, brzinu nicanja i prinos sveže proizvedenog i starijeg semena kukuruza, posejanog na različitim dubinama. U ispitivanju su korišćene dve partije linije kukuruza A634 proizvedene u prethodnoj sezoni i 20 godina starije seme. Za predtretman su korišćeni destilovana voda i 0,5% rastvor KNO3. Setva je izvršena na četiri različite dubine. Kod sveže proizvedenog semena nije bilo mnogo mesta za poboljšanje ispitivanih parametara primenom predtretmana. Reakcija starijeg semena je zavisila od vrste primenjenih tretmana. Rezultati pokazuju da kod linije A634 za predtretman starijeg semena treba izbegavati KNO3 zbog štetnog uticaja na broj niklih biljaka i prinos. Predtretman sa vodom nije imao uticaja na prinos, ali je povećao broj niklih biljaka i brzinu nicanja. Efekat predtretmana zavisio je i od dubine setve, koja za ovu liniju ne bi trebalo da bude veća od 5 cm.

Possibility of using Bacillus and Trichoderma strains for decomposition of crop residues

AB  - The objective of this study was to investigate the possibility of using microbial strains as residue decomposers and to determine the effect of these strains on chemical and microbial properties in the residue-amended soil. Greenhouse experiment consisted of eight Bacillus treatments, three Trichoderma treatments, and their combination, all applied to non-sterile chernozem soil amended with wheat straw. Incorporation of wheat straw improved soil chemical and microbial properties, while the extent of residue decom­position under microbial strains was intensified. Microbial treatments
 significantly affected the soil pH, the content of carbonate, total carbon, soil organic carbon, humus, and available phosphorus and potassium. Bacterial and fungal treatments also significantly influenced the total
 microbial number, ammonifiers, N2-fixers, fungi, actinomycetes, oligotrophs, copiotrophs, and cellulolytic microorganisms. The effect of microbial treatments varied depending on the applied strains and examined properties, with Bacillus strains being more promising residue decomposers compared to Trichoderma strains. The most effective microbial strains could be used as
 potential decomposers of crop residues.

AB  - The objective of this study was to assess the effect of biochar soil amendment (BSA) on chemical and microbial properties in different agricultural soils in Vojvodina Prov­ince. Short-term pot experiment
 consisted of five biochar application doses (0, 0.5, 1, 2, and 3%) and five contrasting soil types (Mollic Gleysol, Eutric Cambisol, Calcaric Fluvisol, Gleyic Chernozem, and Haplic Chernozem), planted with sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) and winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). The examined chemical and microbial properties were significantly influenced by soil type and
 interaction of experimental factors. Significant influence of biochar on the contents of calcium carbonate (CaCO3), total nitrogen (N), total carbon (C),
 soil organic carbon (SOC), humus and potassium (K) of the tested soils was observed. Biochar also significantly affected the number of azotobacters (AZB), fungi (FNG), actino­mycetes (ACT) and copiotrophic bacteria (CB). The effect of BSA varied depending on the applied dose, with higher values of the examined chemical and microbial parameters at higher doses of application.
 Further studies on using biochar in soils with low fertility will be neces­sary to establish its efficiency as an enhancer for agricultural production in Serbia.

AB  - The paper presents the results of soil fertility control of the public land in AP Vojvodina. A total of 514 soil samples were collected in 2018 from the depth of 0-30cm. The majority of the collected samples (70%) had slightly alkaline reaction. Low-humus soil class was found in 54% of the samples, which indicated the need for harvest residue plowing down and organic fertilization, so as to enhance soil humus content and thus preserve soil fertility. The analysis of readily available phosphorus revealed an optimum P content in only one third, while optimum potassium content was found in all of the collected soil samples.
AB  - U radu su prikazani rezultati kontrole plodnosti zemljišta na području AP Vojvodine, koje u državnom vlasništvu. Tokom 2018. godine prikupljeno je ukupno 514 uzorka sa dubine 0-30 cm. Najveći broj uzoraka zemljišta (70%) ima blago alkalnu reakciju, što predstavlja potencijalno ograničavajući faktor u biljnoj proizvodnji. Klasi slabo humoznog zemljišta pripada čak 54% uzoraka, te je neophodno zaoravanje žetvenih ostataka i primena organskog đubriva kako bi se sadržaj humusa u zemljištu povećao, a time sačuvala plodnost. Analizom lakopristupačnog fosfora, utvrđeno je da samo trećina uzoraka ima optimalnu koncentraciju, dok je obezbeđenost zemljišta kalijumom optimalna.

The effects of summer crops grown after winter cover crops on soil compaction

AB  - The aim of the paper was to determine the influence of cover crops (CC) and cultivated crops in the subsequent sowing period (maize, soybean and sudan grass) on the physical properties of the soil, and above all on the soil compaction.Research was carried out at the Rimski Šančevi experimental station. Type of soil - chernozem. The winter CC consisted of the combined intercrops: winter pea (Pisum sativum ssp. Arvense L.) + triticale ((×Triticosecale Wittm. ex A. Camus) (PT) and single-species CC winter pea (P)and control (without CC). Plowing of CC and control plots was carried out in the last week of May 2018, and the sowing of maize, soybean and sudan grass was carried out in early June. Soil compaction was analyzed on the basis of collected data on the resistance of cone penetration into the soil and the immediate moisture content of the soil. The penetration resistance of the cone into the soil was determined using an electric penetrologger Eijkelkamp Penetrologger. Measurement of the resistance was carried out to a depth of 80 cm and expressed in MPa. Based on the conducted research, the smallest percentage content of soil moisture at depths of up to 20 cm was determined for maize varieties (PT) of 10.5% vol.and the highest on the control plot (without CC) (25.7% vol.), as a consequence of the absence of the CC, but also the dense structure of Sudan grass and reduced evaporation from the production area. The lowest Cone index (CI) was measured on a plot also with sudan grass, on the soil preceded by the cultivation of the winter pea as cover crop ( 2,3), while the highest index (3,6) was measured in the soybean crop on variants (PT). The specific resistance to penetration of the cone was varied both on varieties of inter CC (PT), single CC (P) and control, as well as in different cultivated species in the subsequent sowing period. The highest value of the specific resistance in the depth 0-20 cm was found in soybean (PT) 2.76 MPa, and also increased compation in the same crop in the layer (20-40 cm). On the basis of the obtained values it can be concluded that maize least affects soil compaction, unlike soybean, while in relation to the cover crops it is determined that the winter pea has the least impact on soil compaction.
AB  - Cilj rada je bio da se utvrdi uticaj ozimih međuuseva i useva gajenih u naknadnom roku setve (kukuruz, soja i sudanska trava) naparametar sabijenosti zemljišta. Istraživanje je sprovedeno na oglednom polju Rimski Šančevi (45°19'N i 19°50'E). Tip zemljišta černozem. Ogled sa ozimim međuusevima sastojao se iz združenog useva ozimog stočnog graška (Pisum sativum ssp. arvense L.) i tritikalea (×Triticosecale Wittm. ex A. Camus) (T+G), čistog useva ozimog stočnog graška (G) i kontrole bez međuuseva (K). Zaoravanje međuuseva obavljeno je u poslednjoj nedelji maja meseca 2018. godine, a setva kukuruza, soje i sudanske trave početkom juna 2018. godine. Sabijenost zemljišta analizirana je na osnovu podataka o otporu prodiranja konusa u zemljište i momentalnoj vlažnosti zemljišta pomoću penetrometra (Eijkelkamp Penetrologger) do 80 cm dubine. Na osnovu sprovedenog istraživanja, najmanji procentualni sadržaj vode u zemljištu na dubini od 0 do 20 cm utvrđen je na parceli pod kukuruzom na varijanti T+G 10,5% vol. (zapreminskih), a najveći na K (25,7% vol.), kao posledica odsustva međuuseva i smanjene evaporacije sa proizvodne površine. Najmanji Cone Index (CI) izmeren je na parceli sa sudanskom travom, na kojoj je prethodno gajen ozimi grašak kao međuusev (2,3), a najveći (3,6) u usevu soje na varijanti T+G. Najveća vrednost specifičnog otpora u oraničnom horizontu (0-20 cm) izmerena je u usevu soje (T+G) - 2,76 MPa, a takođe je utvrđena povećana sabijenost kod istog useva u podoraničnom sloju (20-40 cm). Na osnovu utvrđenih vrednosti specifičnog otpora zemljišta može se zaključiti da usev kukuruza najmanje utiče na sabijanje zemljišta, za razliku od soje, dok je u pogledu međuuseva utvrđeno da grašak ima najmanji uticaj na sabijanje zemljišta.

Na osnovu sprovedenog istraživanja, najmanji procentualni sadržaj vode u zemljištu na dubini od 0 do 20 cm utvrđen je na parceli pod kukuruzom na varijanti T+G 10,5% vol. (zapreminskih), a najveći na K (25,7% vol.), kao posledica odsustva međuuseva i smanjene evaporacije sa proizvodne površine. Najmanji Cone Index (CI) izmeren je na parceli sa sudanskom travom, na kojoj je prethodno gajen ozimi grašak kao međuusev (2,3), a najveći (3,6) u usevu soje na varijanti T+G. Najveća vrednost specifičnog otpora u oraničnom horizontu (0-20 cm) izmerena je u usevu soje (T+G) - 2,76 MPa, a takođe je utvrđena povećana sabijenost kod istog useva u podoraničnom sloju (20-40 cm). Na osnovu utvrđenih vrednosti specifičnog otpora zemljišta može se zaključiti da usev kukuruza najmanje utiče na sabijanje zemljišta, za razliku od soje, dok je u pogledu međuuseva utvrđeno da grašak ima najmanji uticaj na sabijanje zemljišta.",

AB  - Mercury (Hg) is a heavy metal, designated as a pollutant in the environment, due to its
harmful effects on biota. Mercury pollution is a significant global concern, not only due to its
increased levels in the environment, but also due to its toxic effect on human health across the
food chain. The aim of this study was to determine the content of Hg in agricultural soils and
main field crops. Total number of 84 bulked soil samples were taken (0-30 cm depth) from
agricultural land. At the same plots, 84 plant crops (11 species – used as food and feed) were
taken during the vegetation season 2018. The samples were analyzed for total Hg content
using Direct Mercury Analyzer DMA 80 Milestone. The obtained results of Hg content in soil
were within interval 0.003-0.37 mg kg-1
. The average concentration of Hg was 0.08, with
median 0.06±0.06 mg kg-1
. Obtained values of Hg in soils were below maximum allowable
concentration (MAC) and this interval is complied with the most cited range in soils up to 1
mg kg-1 without known nearby contamination sources. It was found that Hg content is
positively correlated with pH value, slit soil fraction, and CaCO3. The obtained results of Hg
content in plant – field crops, were within interval 0.0001-0.9087 µg kg-1
. Obtained maximum
value is still far lower than MACs for feed and food. According to the average Hg content in
plant species, obtained results were classified from highest to lowest, respectively: bean,
alfalfa, maize, soybean, rapeseed, sunflower, barley, pepper, wheat, rye and tomato.

AB  - U svetu postoji više različitih sistema klasifikacije poljoprivrednog zemljišta, u zavisnosti od izbora prioritetnih kriterijuma. Uz razvoj informacionih tehnologij, neophodnost detaljnog rekognosciranja i mapiranja zemljišta na nivou države, opštine, farme postaje široko rasprostranjeno. Cilj izrade rešenja "SKUP" je povećanje profitabilnosti i konkurentnosti poljoprivredne proizvodnje kroz planiranje i donošenje strateških odluka na primeru opštine Bački Petrovac, uz pomoć primenjenih informacionih tehnologija. Nakon laboratorijske validacije svakog desetog uzorka zemljišta iz prethodnih istraživanja na trajnom čuvanju, obrađeno je ukupno 1.456 uzoraka zemljišta sa površine od 15.904 ha. Svaki uzorak prate prostorne komponente, podaci o parametrima plodnosti, a 124 uzorka sadrže i podatke o fizičikm i pedološkim karakteristikama zemljišta. Za obradu podataka korišćen je geografsko informacioni sistem (GIS) ESRI ArcGIS Geostatistical Analyst 10. U GIS su unete, a aztim su georeferencirane postojeće osnovne karte kao podloge: geološka, pedološka i karta podzemnih voda (Hadžić, 1996). Urađena je prostorna interpolacija ulaznih podataka metodom inverse distance weighting (IDW) i napravljene su karte plodnosti za celokupnu posmatranu površinu opštine Bački Petrovac.

Urban garden soil pollution caused by fertilizers and copper-based fungicides application

AB  - Urban gardening is an activity that has been rapidly increasing. The aim of this study was to point out the common mistakes in cultivation practices made by producers on small city areas. Total of 96 individual plots under vegetable crops were sampled (56 from garden plots of the city of Novi Sad, and 40 from field plots in the suburbs). There was no significant difference in the content of organic matter between these two groups of tested soils. The contents of readily available P2O5 and K2O were significantly higher in garden soil than in the field plots for production of vegetables. According to the content of pseudototal copper, 39% of samples belonged to the category of critical concentration and/or above MAC in the urban soil. Obtained results prove the pollution of small area gardens due to high anthropogenic effect of excessive use of mineral fertilizers and copper-based fungicides.
AB  - Urbano baštovanstvo u gradskim zajednicama je aktivnost koja se intenzivno širi. Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je da ukaže na najčešće greške u proizvodnoj praksi u gradskim baštama i okućnicama malih površina. Uzorci zemljišta su prikupljeni sa ukupno 96 pojedinačnih parcela pod povrtarskim kulturama (56 iz gradskih bašta i okućnica na teritoriji grada Novog Sada i 40 iz njivske proizvodnje iz prigradskih naselja). Između dve grupe ispitivanih zemljišta nije bilo značajnih razlika u sadržaju organske materije. Sadržaj lakopristupačnog P2O5 i K2O bio je značajno viši u zemljištima gradskih bašta i okućnica nego u zemljištima pod njivskom proizvodnjom povrća. Prema sadržaju pseudoukupnog bakra, 39% uzoraka u urbanim zemljištima svrstano je u kategoriju kritične koncentracije i/ili iznad MDK. Dobijeni rezultati ukazuju na zagađenje gradskih bašta i okućnica koje je prouzrokovano jakim antropogenim uticajem usled intenzivne primene mineralnih đubriva i fungicida na bazi bakra.

Microbial abundance and activity in chernozem under different cropping systems

AB  - The study monitored microbial abundance and dehydrogenase activity in chernozem soil under different cropping systems. Soil samples were taken from the long-term trials Crop Rotations and IOSDV, at the Rimski Šančevi experimental field of the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops. The soil samples were collected in two years from ten cropping systems at three sampling depths. Number of the examined microbial groups was assessed by the indirect dilution method, while dehydrogenase enzyme activity was measured spectrophotometrically. Number of the tested microbial groups and dehydrogenase activity varied significantly depending on the cropping system and year of study, while sampling depth significantly affected enzyme activity. The highest number of microorganisms was obtained in non-agricultural soil and unfertilized soil under 2-year and 3-year rotation, while the highest dehydrogenase activity was recorded in non-agricultural soil and soil under wheat grown in monoculture.
AB  - Cilj ovih istraživanja bio je utvrđivanje mikrobiološke brojnosti i dehidrogenazne aktivnosti u černozemu u zavisnosti od sistema gajenja. Uzorci zemljišta su prikupljeni na višegodišnjim ogledima Plodoredi i IOSDV, na eksperimentalnom polju Rimski šančevi Instituta za ratarstvo i povrtarstvo. Zemljište je uzorkovano tokom dve godine iz deset sistema gajenja i tri dubine. Brojnost mikroorganizama utvrđena je indirektnom metodom razređenja, dok je aktivnost dehidrogenaze određena spektrofotometrijski. Brojnost ispitivanih grupa mikroorganizama i dehidrogenazna aktivnost značajno su varirali u zavisnosti od sistema gajenja i godine ispitivanja, dok je dubina uzorkovanja značajno uticala na aktivnost enzima. Najveća brojnost mikroorganizma utvrđena je u nepoljoprivrednom zemljištu i zemljištu pod neđubrenim dvopoljem i tropoljem, dok je najviša dehidrogenazna aktivnost zabeležena u nepoljoprivrednom zemljištu i zemljištu pod monokulturom pšenice.

Effect of different soil usage on microbial properties in soils of Central Serbia

AB  - Aim of the study was to examine the effects of soil use on soil microbial properties at five locations in Central Serbia. The study included 42 samples of soil under certified organic system, 8 samples under conventional system, and 30 samples of abandoned soils. The number of examined microbial groups was assessed using the indirect dilution method followed by plating of soil suspension on different selective media, while dehydrogenase activity was measured spectrophotometrically. The number and activity of microorganisms at the tested plots primarily depended on the soil pH. The acidic soil reaction caused more rapid fungal growth and lower presence of actinomycetes and Azotobacter sp. There were no significant alterations in the number of microorganisms, ammonifiers and fungi under the specific soil use system. Significantly higher dehydrogenase activity was recorded in the abandoned soils and soils under organic systems compared to the conventional farming.
AB  - Cilj ovih istraživanja bio je da se ispita uticaj načina korišćenja zemljišta na mikrobiološka svojstva. Istraživanja su sprovedena u pet oblasti na teritoriji centralne Srbije. Analizirana su 42 uzorka zemljišta pod sertifikovanom organskom proizvodnjom, 8 uzoraka zemljišta u konvencionalnoj poljoprivrednoj proizvodnji i 30 uzoraka napuštenog zemljišta. Brojnost mikroorganizama određena je indirektnom metodom, zasejavanjem suspenzije zemljišta odgovarajućeg razređenja na selektivne hranljive podloge, dok je aktivnost enzima dehidrogenaze određena spektrofotometrijski. Na raznovrsnost, brojnost i aktivnost mikroorganizama na ispitivanim parcelama prvenstveno je uticala pH reakcija zemljišta. Kisela pH reakcija na većini ispitivanih lokaliteta uslovila je intenzivniji razvoj gljiva i manje prisustvo aktinomiceta i Azotobacter sp. Ukupan broj mikroorganizama, brojnost amonifikatora i gljiva nije se značajno menjao u zavisnosti od načina korišćenja parcele. Značajno viša prosečna aktivnost dehidrogenaze zabeležena je u napuštenim zemljištima i zemljištima u organskom sistemu gajenja u poređenju sa zemljištima u konvencionalnoj proizvodnji.
