AB  - A topinambour collection was analyzed to determine the genetic variability of 141 accessions in reaction to the length of day (light), its influence on vegetative and flowering phases, tuber number and mass. Day length significantly influenced flowering, which started with the first shorter days (15.6 h) in the third decade of June, while the majority of accessions flowered in the third decade of August (13.3 h). Differences between accessions were statistically significant for the analyzed phenotype traits. A significantly longer vegetative phase was found in Montenegrin accessions in comparison to the other groups of origin. Duration of the vegetative phase was significantly and positively correlated to tuber mass and negatively to their number, while duration of the reproductive phase had an opposite effect. For further work on topinambour breeding, it would be important to describe the mechanism of photoperiodic control of flowering initialization. Only by obtaining accessions neutral to the photoperiod could topinambour become a cultivated crop.

Non-parametric stability analysis of sunflower oil yield trials

AB  - A three-year experiment (2008, 2009, 2010) on twenty sunflower hybrids grown in 13 (2010) to 15 (2009, 2008) locations in the region of Vojvodina and central Serbia was carried out in order to study GEI (genotype × environment interaction) on oil yield and stability of hybrids using non-parametric measures of stability. The non-parametric test indicated the presence of significant crossover interaction [G(E) and E(G)]. Non-parametric measures Si (1) and Si (2) were used to determine stability of sunflower hybrids. The level of association among stability measures was assessed using Sperman's rank correlation. Significant differences in rank stability among 20 sunflower hybrids grown in 13 (2010) or 15 (2009, 2008) locations were found. According to non-parametric stability parameters Si (1) and Si (2), hybrids Baća and Vranac were most stable in all locations. Baća also had high oil yield in 2008 and 2009. In 2010 two new hybrids (NS-H-6612, NS-H-2069) were high yielding and stable for oil yield. Hybrid NS-H-111 was also stable in all locations in 2009 and 2010 and its oil yield was above average. The Spearman's rank correlation between non-parametric stability parameters, showed highly significant (P lt 0.01) rank correlations between Si (1) and Si (2), indicating that the two measures were similar in classifying the hybrids according to their stability under different environmental (location) conditions. Non-parametric measures of stability, based on ranks, could be recommended to agronomists and plant breeders.

Development of sunflower hybrids tolerant to tribenuron methyl

AB  - Discovery of tribenuron-methyl resistant wild Helianthus annuus L. population (ANN-KAN) created an opportunity for expansion of sunflower herbicide resistance breeding program. The aim of this study was development of sunflower hybrids resistant to tribenuron-methyl. Creation of tribenuron-methyl resistant hybrids would enable the use of a wider palette of herbicides for sunflower, more efficient chemical control of Cirsium arvense and more economically profitable post-emergence control of some annual broad-leaves weeds in sunflower. Original populations SURES-1 and SURES-2 are homozygous for resistance to tribenuron-methyl. F1 generations produced from the crossings are completely resistant to tribenuron-methyl, pointing out to dominant way of inheritance of this trait. Studies on the exact number of genes controlling the resistance are in progress. Tribenuron-methyl resistance was transferred from original populations into a number of female and male inbred lines of cultivated sunflower. These inbred lines could enable creation of a number of hybrids resistant to tribenuron-methyl. Hybrids SUMO-1-PR, SUMO-2- OR and SUMO-3 are resistant to doubled application dose of tribenuron-methyl. Agronomical characteristics of these hybrids are on the level with the leading conventional sunflower hybrids.
AB  - Otkrićem populacije divljeg Helianthus annuus L. (ANN-KAN) otporne prema tribenuron-metilu stvorena je mogućnost proširenja programa oplemenjivanja suncokreta na tolerantnost na herbicide. Cilj ovog rada je bio stvaranje hibrida suncokreta tolerantnih na tribenuron-metil. Stvaranje hibrida tolerantnih na tribenuron-metil proširilo bi paletu herbicida u suncokretu, omogućilo efikasnije suzbijanje palamide (Cirsium arvense) i ekonomski povoljnije suzbijanje nekih jednogodišnjih širokolisnih korova posle nicanja u suncokretu. Izvorne populacije SURES-1 i SURES-2 su homozigotno tolerantne na tribenuron-metil. Dobijene F1 generacije su u potpunosti tolerantne na tribenuron-metil što ukazuje na dominantan način nasleđivanja. Istraživanja tačnog broja gena koji kontrolišu ovu otpornost su u toku. Otpornost prema tribenuron-metilu je iz izvornih populacija preneta u veći broj majčinskih i restorer samooplodnih linija suncokreta. Na osnovu ovih linija moguće je stvaranje većeg broja hibrida tolerantnih na tribenuron-metil. Hibridi SUMO-1- PR, SUMO-2-OR i SUMO-3 su tolerantni na dvostruku praktičnu koncentraciju po hektaru tribenuron-metila. Ovi hibridi su po svojim agronomskim karakteristikama na nivou vodećih hibrida koji se nalaze u širokoj proizvodnji.

Effect of hybrid, storage conditions and seed protection on sunflower field emergence

AB  - Seed emergence under field conditions decisively and directly determines the number of plants per hectare, which is one of three basic components of yield in the plant world. Influence of chemical treatment on field emergence of three commercial sunflower hybrids stored in different conditions was tested in 2007 and 2008 on experimental field of Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Novi Sad. On average, hybrid H1 had the highest value of field emergence (88.79%) and for chemical treatment fl udioxonil + metalaxyl + imidacloprid (87.71%). Seed kept in common storage had the highest emergence value in fi eld (87.92%). Seed treated with fl udioxonil + metalaxyl + imidacloprid and stored for one year in common storage had the highest field emergence (90.18%). Considering interaction between storage conditions and genotype, hybrid H1 seed sown after chemical treatment had the highest field emergence (91.82%) and seed kept in common storage (90.48%). Hybrid H1 seed compared with other two had the highest field emergence treated with fludioxonil + metalaxyl + imidacloprid (91.84%).
AB  - Ujednačeno nicanje u poljskim uslovima direktno određuje broj biljaka po hektaru, što je jedan od najvažnijih uslova za postizanje visokog prinosa suncokreta. Tokom 2007. i 2008. na oglednom polju Instituta za ratarstvo i povrtarstvo iz Novog Sada ispitivan je uticaj hemijskih tretmana na poljsko nicanje tri komercijalna hibrida suncokreta, čuvanih u različitim uslovima skladištenja. U proseku, najveća vrednost ispitivanog parametra bila je kod hibrida H1 (88,79%) i hemijskog tretmana fludioksonil + metalaksil + imidakloprid (87,71%). Takođe, najveće poljsko nicanje u proseku pokazalo je seme koje je čuvano u skladištu (87,92%). Kod interakcije uslovi čuvanja x hemijski tretman najbolje rezultate u uslovima nicanja u polju (90,18%) imalo je seme tretirano fludioksonil + metalaksil + imidaklopridom koje je čuvano godinu dana u skladištu, a kod interakcije uslovi čuvanja x genotip seme hibrida H1 i to sveže tretirano seme (91,82%) i seme čuvano godinu dana u skladištu (90,48%). AB  - Hybrid sunflower seed, regularly protected with chemicals, is used for sowing in the second or the third year if not used in the first year after production. In that case, it is stored in warehouses, and the length of storage period may significantly affect the quality of seeds. An experiment was conducted in Laboratory for Seed Testing of Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Novi Sad, in order to examine the effect of storage period on germination of treated sunflower seeds of three commercial hybrids of the Novi Sad Institute. The seed was treated with fungicides - metalaxyl and fludioxonil, as well as with insecticides - thiamethoxam and imidacloprid, while untreated seeds served as control. The sowing was repeated throughout the year, at three-month intervals. The obtained results indicated that, on average, the hybrid Sremac had the highest (94.61%), and the hybrid Šumadinac the lowest seed germination (90.29%). After one year of storage, seed germination declined significantly. All three hybrids treated with fungicides and the control had a significantly higher germination than hybrids treated with insecticides. This regularity was not evident right after the treatment - it became noticeable during the storage.

AB  - Rezultati ispitivanja energije klijanja i klijavosti semena hibrida Rimi na različitim podlogama za ispitivanje klijavosti ukazali su na postojanje visoko značajnog uticaja podloge na energiju klijanja i klijavost semena. Takođe, visoko značajna razlika utvrđena je i kod primenjenih tretmana, dok se značajna razlika ispoljila kod interakcije podloga x tretmani. U proseku, energija klijanja bila je najveća kod semena koje je naklijavano na filter papiru i iznosila je 90,10%. Ispitivanje klijavosti semena pokazalo je u proseku, takođe, najveću vrednost kod naklijavanja na filter papiru (92,05%). Ova vrednost bila je statistički visoko značajna u odnosu na rezultat ispitivanja u pesku za 13,60%, a u odnosu na ispitivanje u kompostu za 4,00%.

Comparative analysis of laboratory and field procedures for testing genetic purity of sunflower parent lines

AB  - One of the main features that confer high quality to the seed is its genetic purity. Genetic impurities in sunflower seed lot can originate from seed due to self-pollination, uncontrolled cross-pollination or mechanical mixing of seeds. Genetic purity of 18 seed lots of sunflower parental lines is controlled by comparative analysis of morphological traits and electrophoretic analysis 4 isoenzyme systems, according to the UPOV guidelines for DUS test of sunflower lines and hybrids. In 83.3% of the total analysed samples, results in the field and laboratory were in agreement. In parental line R-8 5% genetic impurity was found by isoenzyme analysis, which was not detected based on morphological characteristics, while electrophoretic analysis of samples L-10 and L-11 showed less genetic impurities in comparison with the analysis in the field.
AB  - Jedna od važnih komponenti kvaliteta semena jeste njegova sortna, odnosno genetska čistoća. Uzroci nesortnih primesa mogu poticati od semena nastalog usled nekontrolisane samooplodnje, stranooplodnje ili usled mehaničkog mešanja semena. Genetska čistoća 18 partija roditeljskih linija suncokreta kontrolisana je uporednom analizom morfoloških osobina i elektroforetskom analizom 4 izoenzimska sistema, prema UPOV uputstvu za DUS analizu linija i hibrida suncokreta. U 83,3% od ukupno ispitanih uzoraka, rezultati u polju i laboratoriji su bili u saglasnosti. Kod roditeljske linije R-8 analizom izoenzima pronađeno je 5% genetske nečistoće koja nije konstatovana na osnovu morfoloških karakteristika, dok je elektroforetska analiza uzoraka L-10 i L-11 pokazala manju genetsku nečistoću u poređenju sa analizom u polju.

AB  - In the present study, thirteen SSRs (Simple Sequence Repeats) were employed for screening the level of similarity between sunflower parental lines and progeny obtained in final stages of selection. Another aim of the study was to compare the success of making isogenic lines through selection. Line P (donor line) was used as a donor of downy mildew gene Pl6 and backcrossed with four commercial inbred lines (A, B, C and D) susceptible to downy mildew. HAP3, a DNA-specific primer, was used to test the success of transfer of Pl6 gene from the donor line to the progeny lines in the F6 and F7 generations. It was found that all progeny lines were resistant to downy mildew. Results obtained by using thirteen primers showed that progeny lines were similar to their respective recipient parent, but further studies have to be conducted using a larger number of primers and a larger number of genotypes.

Interaction hybrid × planting date for oil yield in sunflower

AB  - The aim of the study was to assess the effects of hybrids and planting dates as well as their interaction on oil yield in sunflower for three-year experiment (2005, 2006, 2007). Three sunflower hybrids (Miro, Rimi and Pobednik) and eight planting dates were included in the experiment. AMMI (Additive Main Effects and Multiplicative Interaction) analysis is one of the mainly used multiplicative models, which evaluates main effects and also interaction. The interaction was detected by using AMMI1 biplot. Oil yield was predominantly influenced by the year of growing (58.9%), then by planting date (12.9%) and by hybrid (10.7%). All interactions were significant as well. AMMI ANOVA showed high significance of both IPC1 and IPC2. The contribution of IPC1 was 77.5%. Hybrids Miro and Pobednik showed no significant differences in the mean values, which were higher than average. However, the hybrid Miro showed the highest stability for oil yield. Hybrid Rimi, with the lowest mean value, was the most unstable for the examined character. Oil yield was higher in earlier than in later planting dates. Graphical presentation of AMMI1 in the form of biplot could facilitate the choice of stable hybrids and planting dates for desired characters in sunflower.
AB  - Cilj rada je bio da se ispita efekat hibrida, roka setve i njihove interakcije na prinos ulja suncokreta u trogodišnjim ispitivanjima (2005, 2006, 2007). U eksperiment su bila uključena tri hibrida (Miro, Rimi, Pobednik) i osam rokova setve. AMMI (metod glavnih efekata i višestruke interakcije) je jedan od najznačajnijih i najviše korišćenih multivarijacionih modela, koji osim glavnih efekata (hibrid, rok setve) otkriva i interakciju. Interakcija je prikazana pomoću AMMI1 biplota, za čiju izradu je korišćen excel (macro). Prinos ulja bio je u najvećoj meri uslovljen godinom ispitivanja (58,9%), zatim rokom setve (12,9%) i hibridom (10,7%), a i sve interakcije su pokazale visoku značajnost. AMMI ANOVA pokazala je visoku značajnost obe glavne komponente (IPC1 i IPC2). Najveći deo varijacije pripao je IPC1 (77,5%). Hibridi Pobednik i Miro nisu se značajno razlikovali u srednjim vrednostima, koje su bile iznad opšteg proseka. Međutim, Miro je pokazao visoku stabilnost za prinos ulja. Hibrid Rimi, sa značajno najnižom srednjim vrednošću, bio je i najnestabilniji za ovu osobinu. Prinos ulja bio je veći u ranijim u odnosu na kasnije rokove setve. Grafički prikaz AMMI1 biplota može pomoći u izboru stabilnih hibrida i rokova setve za željene osobine.

AMMI ANOVA pokazala je visoku značajnost obe glavne komponente (IPC1 i IPC2). Najveći deo varijacije pripao je IPC1 (77,5%). Hibridi Pobednik i Miro nisu se značajno razlikovali u srednjim vrednostima, koje su bile iznad opšteg proseka. Međutim, Miro je pokazao visoku stabilnost za prinos ulja. Hibrid Rimi, sa značajno najnižom srednjim vrednošću, bio je i najnestabilniji za ovu osobinu. Prinos ulja bio je veći u ranijim u odnosu na kasnije rokove setve. Grafički prikaz AMMI1 biplota može pomoći u izboru stabilnih hibrida i rokova setve za željene osobine.",

AB  - Sunflower is attacked by more than 40 different diseases of which only a certain number causes serious reduction of seed yield. One of the most damaging diseases is downy mildew, which is caused by the fungus Plasmopara halstedii (Farl.) Berl. et de Toni (syn. Plasmopara helianthi Novot.). Sunflower downy mildew has great economic importance in all countries where sunflower is grown. When the meteorological conditions during the vegetation period of sunflower become favourable for disease development, the damages produce considerable reducing of the seed yield and the oil content. The best way of controlling the fungus is to grow resistant cultivars and because of that the major objective of this study was to develop sunflower genotypes genetically resistant to dominant races of downy mildew in Serbia. During this work two co-dominant CAPS markers for Pl6 gene were developed which can also be used for Pl7 gene. For introduction of these genes in breeding program marker assisted selection (MAS) was used. Developed commercial sunflower inbred lines exhibit resistance to all known races of downy mildew in Serbia indicated incorporation of resistance to downy mildew in well-known and widely produced hybrids. Besides that, Pl-genes were introduced to a large number of new inbred lines and new downy mildew resistant hybrids. These new hybrids reach higher seed and oil yields then hybrids widely produced.

AB  - This paper presents the results of productivity traits (seed yield, oil content and oil yield) of NS sunflower hybrids grown in a network of small-plot trials in Vojvodina and central Serbia in 2008 as well as recommendations for the 2009 sowing season. The hybrid × location interaction is evaluated by the AMMI model. The small-plot trials made use of 20 NS sunflower hybrids and 13 locations in Vojvodina and 4 in central Serbia. Seed yield, oil content and oil yield were significantly different in the small-plot trials in the investigated regions. In Vojvodina the highest average seed yield was produced by the hybrid Duško (3.79 t/ha), followed by Velja (3.67 t/ha), Sremac (3.62 t/ha), Kazanova (3.60 t/ha), Baća (3.60 t/ha) and Vladimir (3.59 t/ha). In central Serbia, the hybrid Sremac (3.48 t/ha) achieved the highest seed yield. The highest average seed yield was achieved in the locality Krčedin (4.02 t/ha). In five locations in Vojvodina, seed yield was over 3.5 t/ha (Donji Petrovci, Kovin, Rimski Šančevi, Sombor, Neštin). In 2008 the average oil content for the 20 hybrids in Vojvodina was 47.72%. The highest oil content was found in the hybrid Baća (50.22%). In central Serbia oil content varied between 43.23% (NS-H-45) and 48.92% (Plamen). Average oil yield (1.66 t/ha) in 2008 for all the hybrids and locations in Vojvodina was significantly higher than in the region of central Serbia, with the average of 1.42%. In a four-year trial in Vojvodina the hybrids Sremac (3.11 t/ha), Šumadinac (2.96 t/ha) and Velja (2.90 t/ha) proved their worth by producing the highest seed yield. AMMI biplot for seed yield showed that the hybrid Duško had the highest adaptability in all locations, because the interaction had the lowest value. Also, low interaction effects were stated by the hybrids Kazanova, Vladimir and Baća. These hybrids had above-average seed yields for the whole of the small-plot trials in 2008. The hybrids Baća, Duško, Kazanova, Vladimir, Milan and Sremac, which had mean values above the general mean for oil yield, also had low interaction effects.
AB  - U radu su prikazani rezultati proizvodnih osobina (prinos semena, sadržaj ulja i prinos ulja) novosadskih hibrida suncokreta u mreži mikroogleda izvedenih u Vojvodini i centralnoj Srbiji u toku 2008. godine. Data je i preporuka sortimenta za 2009. godinu. Interakcija hibrid × lokalitet ocenjena je primenom AMMI modela. U ispitivanju je bilo 20 hibrida i 13 lokaliteta u Vojvodini i 4 u centralnoj Srbiji. AMMI biplot prinosa semena je pokazao da je hibrid Duško visoko adaptabilan na svim ispitivanim lokalitetima, zbog malog efekta interakcije. Pored njega veoma mali efekat interakcije uočen je kod hibrida Kazanova, Vladimir i Baća. Kod ovih hibrida prinos semena je bio na nivou opšteg proseka mikroogleda u 2008. godini. Najmanji efekat interakcije pokazali su hibridi Baća, Duško, Kazanova, Vladimir Milan i Sremac, koji su imali i prinos ulja iznad opšteg proseka.

Effect of various storage conditions on viability of treated sunflower seed

AB  - It is very important to keep the quality of the sunflower seed, which must be kept in the warehouses. The standard treatment of sunflower seed was treatment with the fungicide. New trend for the seed quality improvement is treatment with the insecticides as well. Seed germination energy of hybrid NS-H-111 that was kept in cooling chamber was higher then the energy of seed that was kept in the warehouse for the 4.31 %. This difference was statistically significant. Seed treated with fludioxonil + metalaxil + imidakloprid that was kept in the cooling chamber, has the higher germination energy for 13.5 % the then the seed kept in the warehouse. The difference was highly significant. Seed kept in the cooling chamber had, in average, higher germination for the 3.94 % in relation of the seed kept in the warehouse. In average, for Sremac hybrid, the highest values of seed germination were when the seed was kept in the warehouse. This difference wasn't statistically significant in relation to the other two examinations. The germination energy was higher at fludioxonil + metalaxil + tiametoxam treatment (93.75 %). Investigation of Sremac seed germination in different storage conditions, in average, hasn't any statistically significant effects. The highest germination was at treatment fludioxonil + metalaxil + tiametoxam and its amount was 94.92 %. This is statistically significant difference in relation to fludioxonil + metalaxil + imidakloprid treatment (for 5.09 %). Seed without treatment, which is kept in the cooling chamber, had the highest germination energy.
AB  - Hibridno seme suncokreta, koje je proizvedeno u jednoj godini, često se ne utroši za setvu u narednoj vegetaciji. U svim ovim slučajevima ono se mora čuvati u skladištima, pri tome treba očuvati kvalitete semena. Suncokret se standardno nakon dorade tretira fungicidima. Novi pravac u poboljšanju kvaliteta semenske robe je tretiranje hibridnog semena insekticidima. Energija klijanja semena hibrida NS-H-111 koje je čuvano u hladnoj komori bila je statistički značajno veća u odnosu seme iz skladišta za 4.31 %. Visoko signifikantna razlika ispoljila se kod tretmana fludioxonil+metalaxil+imidakloprid, gde je seme čuvano u hladnoj komori imalo energiju klijavosti veću za 13.5 % u odnosu na seme čuvano u skladištu. Seme čuvano u hladnoj komori imalo je, u proseku, veću klijavost za 3.94 % u odnosu na skladište. Kod hibrida Sremac, u proseku, najveća vrednost energije klijanja bila je pri čuvanju semena u skladištu, međutim ona nije bila statistički značajna u odnosu na druga dva ispitivanja. Kod ispitivanih tretmana najveća vrednost energije klijanja, u proseku, bila je najveća kod varijante fludioxonil+metalax- il+tiametoxam (93.75 %). Ispitivanje klijavosti semena hibrida Sremac u različitim uslovima čuvanja, u proseku nije pokazalo statistički značajne efekte. Najveća klijavost bila je kod tretmana fludioxonil+metalaxil+tiametoxam i iznosila je 94.92 %. Ova vrednost ispoljila je statistički visoko signifikantnu vrednost u odnosu na tretman fludioxonil+metalaxil+imidakloprid (za 5.09 %). Netretirano seme čuvano u hladnoj komori imalo je najveću klijavost.

U svim ovim slučajevima ono se mora čuvati u skladištima, pri tome treba očuvati kvalitete semena. Suncokret se standardno nakon dorade tretira fungicidima. Novi pravac u poboljšanju kvaliteta semenske robe je tretiranje hibridnog semena insekticidima. Energija klijanja semena hibrida NS-H-111 koje je čuvano u hladnoj komori bila je statistički značajno veća u odnosu seme iz skladišta za 4.31 %. Visoko signifikantna razlika ispoljila se kod tretmana fludioxonil+metalaxil+imidakloprid, gde je seme čuvano u hladnoj komori imalo energiju klijavosti veću za 13.5 % u odnosu na seme čuvano u skladištu. Seme čuvano u hladnoj komori imalo je, u proseku, veću klijavost za 3.94 % u odnosu na skladište. Kod hibrida Sremac, u proseku, najveća vrednost energije klijanja bila je pri čuvanju semena u skladištu, međutim ona nije bila statistički značajna u odnosu na druga dva ispitivanja. Kod ispitivanih tretmana najveća vrednost energije klijanja, u proseku, bila je najveća kod varijante fludioxonil+metalax- il+tiametoxam (93.75 %). Ispitivanje klijavosti semena hibrida Sremac u različitim uslovima čuvanja, u proseku nije pokazalo statistički značajne efekte. Najveća klijavost bila je kod tretmana fludioxonil+metalaxil+tiametoxam i iznosila je 94.92 %. Ova vrednost ispoljila je statistički visoko signifikantnu vrednost u odnosu na tretman fludioxonil+metalaxil+imidakloprid (za 5.09 %). Netretirano seme čuvano u hladnoj komori imalo je najveću klijavost.",

In line L-2, statistically significant effect of chemical treatment on seedling dry matter content was observed, whereas the effect of storage duration on seedlings dry matter content was highly significant. Double interactions were highly significant. .
AB  - U savremenoj poljoprivrednoj proizvodnji setva semena visokih kvaliteta, koje je sposobno da brzo i ujednačeno klija u različitim uslovima životne sredine, osnovni je preduslov za postizanje visokih prinosa. Istraživanja su obavljena u Laboratoriji za ispitivanje semena, Instituta za ratarstvo i povrtarstvo iz Novog Sada na semenu dve citoplazmatski muško sterilne forme linije majke: L-1 i L-2. Za ispitivanje uticaja hemijskog tretmana i dužine čuvanja na apsolutno suvu masu ponika seme je tretirano fungicidima: benomil, metalaksil i fludioksonil, kao i insekticidima: tiametoksam i imidakloprid i čuvano u skladištu koje se koristi za čuvanje komercijalnog semena. Ispitivanja su ponavljana svaka tri meseca, a početno ispitivanje je obavljeno neposredno nakon tretiranja semena. Analiza varijanse ispitivanih parametara ukazala je na postojanje statistički visoko značajnog uticaja hemijskog tretmana i dužine čuvanja na apsolutno suvu masu ponika linije L-1. Kod linije L-2 analiza varijanse ispitivanih parametara ukazala je na postojanje statistički značajnog uticaja hemijskog tretmana, a visoko značajnog dužine čuvanja na apsolutno suvu masu ponika. Dvojne interakcije bile su statistički visoko značajne. .

AB  - The basic goal of sunflower breeding at the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops is the creation of standard hybrids with a high oil content and seed and oil yields and resistance to dominant diseases and drought. Beside that, confectionery hybrids for special food and feed purposes are also produced. In this respect, apart from breeding in order to improve the main seed yield components, special attention is given to an increase of protein content and quality, decrease of seed oil content, increase of 1,000-seed weight, and decrease of hull content. The goal of this paper was to examine the value of the new experimental sunflower hybrids of the confectionery type in relation to the standard hybrids.
AB  - U Institutu za ratarstvo i povrtarstvo Novi Sad pored osnovnog pravca oplemenjivanja suncokreta na stvaranju standardnih visoko uljanih hibrida sa visokim prinosom semena i ulja, otpornih prema dominantnim bolestima i suši, stvaraju se i visokoproduktivni hibridi za posebne namene konzumnog tipa namenjeni proizvodnji finalnih proizvoda od jezgra. U ovom programu pored oplemenjivanja na glavne komponente prinosa semena, posebna pažnja posvećena je povećanju sadržaja i kvaliteta proteina uz smanjenje sadržaj ulja u semenu, povećanju mase 1000 semena i smanjenju sadržaja ljuske. Cilj ovog rada je da se ispita vrednost novih eksperimentalnih konzumnih hibrida suncokreta u poređenju sa standardnim hibridima.

AB  - Sunflower downy mildew has a great economic importance in countries where sunflower is grown. Primary infected plants significantly decrease seed yields while secondary infection has no significant influence. Major objective of this study was to developed sunflower genotypes genetically resistant to dominant races of downy mildew in Serbia. During this work two co-dominant CAPS markers for Pl-6 gene were developed which can also be used for Pl-7 gene. For introduction of these genes in breeding program marker assisted selection (MAS) was used. Developed commercial sunflower inbred lines exhibit resistance to all known races of downy mildew in our country indicated incorporation of resistance to downy mildew in well-known and widely produced hybrids VELJA, KAZANOVA and RIMI-PR. Pl-genes were introduced to large number of new inbred lines and new downy mildew resistant hybrids PLAMEN, SREMAC, DUŠKO and OLIVA were released. These new hybrids reach higher seed and oil yields then hybrids widely produced.
AB  - Plamenjača suncokreta ima veliki ekonomski značaj u svim zemljama u kojima se gaji suncokret. Svaka obolela biljka od primarne zaraze ima značajno smanjenje prinosa, dok sekundarna zaraza nema bitniji značaj. Stoga je i postavljeni cilj ovog rada bio stvaranje genotipova suncokreta koji su genetski otporni na dominantne rase plamenjače kod nas. U toku ovog rada razvijena su i dva kodominantna CAPS markera za Pl-6 gen za koja je utvrđeno da se mogu koristiti i za Pl-7 gen tako da je za unošenje ovih gena korišćena i marker asistirana selekcija (MAS). Stvorene su kod komercijalnih linija suncokreta forme otporne na sve rase plamenjače prisutne kod nas, što je omogućilo prevođenje već poznatih i u širokoj proizvodnji raširenih hibrida VELJA, KAZANOVA i RIMI-PR u verzije otporne na plamenjaču. Ugrađeni su pl-geni u veći broj novih inbred linija i stvoreni su novi hibridi otporni na plamenjaču, a to su: PLAMEN, SREMAC, DUŠKO i OLIVA. Novostvoreni hibridi ostvaruju viši prinos semena i ulja u odnosu na hibride koji su nalaze u širokoj proizvodnji.

Shoot development from hypocotyl protoplasts of sunflower (helianthus annuus l.)

AB  - The plant regeneration from sunflower protoplast was achieved by protocols that considerably differ with respect to basal medium and concentration of growth regulators added. In most cases regeneration was restricted to a small proportion of genotypes. In this experiment, sunflower inbred line Ha-74A, with a high regeneration ability was used for protoplast isolation from etiolated hypocotyls. Isolated protoplasts were embedded in agarose droplets and cultured according to different regeneration protocols. The best results were obtained when protoplasts were cultured on L4 medium followed by transfer of regenerated microcalluses to solid regeneration media. Shoot regeneration was achieved by culture of calluses on SE regeneration medium after the treatment with 2.2 mu M thidiazuron.

abstract = "The plant regeneration from sunflower protoplast was achieved by protocols that considerably differ with respect to basal medium and concentration of growth regulators added. In most cases regeneration was restricted to a small proportion of genotypes. In this experiment, sunflower inbred line Ha-74A, with a high regeneration ability was used for protoplast isolation from etiolated hypocotyls. Isolated protoplasts were embedded in agarose droplets and cultured according to different regeneration protocols. The best results were obtained when protoplasts were cultured on L4 medium followed by transfer of regenerated microcalluses to solid regeneration media. Shoot regeneration was achieved by culture of calluses on SE regeneration medium after the treatment with 2.2 mu M thidiazuron.",

AB  - The paper describes the practical application of triple test cross analysis. The method is illustrated using data for cotyledon area obtained by studying two inbred lines and their cross as well as 30 crosses between the inbreeds and 10 randomly selected lines.
AB  - U radu je prikazan praktičan postupak analiza testa trostrukog ukrštanja. Za ilustraciju metode uzeti su podaci za površinu kotiledona od genetičkog materijala koji se sastojao od dve inbred linije, njihovog ukrštanja i 30 ukrštanja koja su nastala u ukrštanjima inbred linija kao i njihovog ukrštanja sa deset slučajno odabranih linija.
