AB  - Wheat grain quality has in the focus of wheat breeders worldwide, besides breeding for yield, aiming at production of the best possible input for the processing industry. Twenty-five winter wheat varieties were studied to assess the progress of breeding for wheat quality in the last 60 years. The study included varieties released in different years representing all the various periods in Serbian wheat breeding. Only varieties that played a major role in Serbian wheat production were selected for this four-year trial (2010-2013) carried out at the Rimski Šančevi site near the city of Novi Sad, Serbia.

AB  - Vrlo prinosna, rana sorta ozime pšenice Dična stvorena je metodom sukcesivne hibridizacije genetički divergentnih i intenzivnih sorti Novosadske rane 1, Tise, Nove Banatke i Mačvanke 1. U njoj su uspešno kombinovani geni odgovorni za potencijal rodnosti iznad 11 t/ha, vrlo dobar do odličan tehnološki kvalitet, ranozrelost, otpornost prema poleganju, niskim temperaturama i bolestima (Pucc. recondita tritici, Pucc. graminis tritici, Erysiphe graminis tritici i Tiletia tritici). Savezna komisija za priznavanje sorti registrovala je Dičnu 1992. godine kao odličnu hlebnu sortu II-I tehnološke grupe. Zajedno sa ozimom, srednje ranom sortom Milica ima najbolju otpornost prema tvrdoj sneti u zastupljenom sortimentu pšenice u našoj zemlji. Širi se u proizvodnji.
AB  - Dična is an early and high yielding variety which was released by Federal Comission for Varietal Approval in 1992. It was developed by crossing genetically divergent and bigly productive parents Novosadska rana 1, Tisa, Nova Banatka and Mačvanka 1. The spike is white and smooth, medium compact, awnless, with 19-23 spikelets. The grain is vitreous and dark red (Triticum aestivum L. ssp. vulgare varr. lutescens).

AB  - Vrlo prinosna, polupatuljasta i srednje rana sorta ozime pšenice Tera stvorena je metodom trojne hibridizacije genetički divergentnih, intenzivnih sorti i linija NS 2879/5-1, NS 3000 i Rana niska. U ovoj sorti uspešno su kombinovani geni odgovorni za visok prinos, vrlo dobar tehnološki kvalitet, nizak rast i vrlo dobru otpornost prema poleganju, dobru otpornost prema niskim temperaturama, zemljišnoj i vazdušnoj suši i visokim temperaturama u fazi nalivanja zrna i odličnu otpornost prema lisnoj rđi (Pucc. recondita tritici). Registrovana je od Savezne komisije za priznavanje sorti 1995. godine.
AB  - Tera, semi-dwarf winter wheat variety was released by the Federal Commision for Varietal Approval in 1995. It was developed by crossing genetically divergent and very productive variety and lines NS.2879/5-1, NS 3000 and Rana niska. The spike is white and smooth, awnless, medium compact, with 18-21 spikelets. The grain is
vitreous and red (Triticum aestivum L. ssp. vulgare var lutescens). Tera is a medium early variety with a good resistance to winterkilling. It is semi-dwarf variety with the average stem height of 78 cm and a very good
resistance to lodging. The resistance to leaf rust is excellent, (Pucc. recondita tritici), the resistance to stem rust (Pucc. graminis tritici) and powdery mildew (Erysiphe graminis tritici) is good. The resistance to shattering is very good. The variety is tolerant to soil drought. Absolute mass of grain is about 34 g and volume mass of grain is 85.3 kg/hl. Variety is classified in the subgroup A2. The milling and baking quality is excellent. According to its quality indicators the variety is classified in the 2nd technological group as a very good bread making variety. The content of dry gluten is about 9% (Table 2). Tera is high yielding variety with the genetic yield potential over 11 t/ha. The variety is adaptable and may be successfully grown on less fertile soils and various production conditions. It was introduced in commercial production in 1996.
