AB - Postharvest losses of stored grains are recognized as a major constraint in food security. The losses caused by stored
product pests (insects, microorganisms and rodents) amount from 20 to 80%, depending on the region, thus their reduction
can increase available food supplies. The control of pests in storage and processing industry is mainly relying on the use
of chemically synthesized pesticides and toxic fumigants. However, the inadequate and frequent use of these compounds
has led to a development of pest resistance (to residual insecticides, fumigants and some fungicides), residues in food and
feed, environmental and health hazards and other adverse impacts. The mentioned has resulted in a ban or restriction of
a number of pesticide compounds in recent years, particularly insecticides, enabling the expansion of natural products
(NPs) use in stored product pest management. Although NPs have long been used as pesticides and have served as an
inspiration for numerous commercial synthetic products, at some point in history they were neglected. NPs originate from
natural sources, and are i) mineral-derived (inert dusts: diatomaceous earth, kaolin clay, boric acid, zeolite, silver
nanoparticles etc.) or ii) plant-derived compounds (terpenes, phenolics, steroids, alkaloids etc.).
Suzbijanje štetočina u skladišnim objektima i
životnu sredinu i zdravlje i drugih negativnih posledica.
steroidi, alkaloidi itd.).

AB - The purpose of this study is to assess the repellent activity of lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) essential oil (EO), grown in Serbia under greenhouse conditions, against four prevalent stored product pests: Plodia interpunctella (larvae), Sitophilus oryzae, Acanthoscelides obtectus and Tribolium castaneum (adults). The lemongrass EO repellency was tested using filter paper in Petri dishes and a Y-tube olfactometer. According to the repellency index (RI), the lemongrass EO repellency was divided into 5 classes. Prior to biotesting, the chemical characterization of lemongrass EO was performed and the following main compounds were detected: myrcene (31.0%), geranial (30.0%), and neral (23.6%). The C. citratus EO considered was found to exhibit the Class III repellent activity against P. interpunctella larvae only at the highest concentration (namely 0.5%). This is the very first report on the C. citratus EO repellent activity against this pest. The lemongrass EO examined showed strong repellency (Class IV) against S. oryzae (0.2% and 0.5% of EO), A. obtectus (0.1% and 0.2%), and T. castaneum (0.05-0.1%). Moreover, higher lemongrass EO concentrations (0.5%) were found to exhibit extreme repellency (Class V) against A. obtectus and T. castaneum. The results obtained were confirmed in the bioassays performed, indicating the great potential of lemongrass EO as a bio-repellent when applied in higher concentrations to all the insects considered, regardless of the exposure period.

AB - This study was undertaken in order to investigate the biological activity of chemically characterized Carum carvi essential oil (EO) and its effect on oxidative stress parameters in stored product pests. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry depicted carvone (68.22 +/- 0.62%) and limonene (21.80 +/- 0.54%) as the major compounds of said EO. Different concentrations of EO were tested for fumigant activity and showed prominent results following a time-response relationship in both tested species. The changes in the antioxidative defense system, catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and glutathione-S-transferase (GST) activities, as well as the level of lipid peroxidation (MDA) and the content of reduced glutathione (GSH) were estimated in time-dependent response. The results demonstrated that C. carvi could have a significant role in the future, as an environmentally friendly alternative for the management of stored product pests.

AB - Background: The increased use of pesticides leads to permanent pollution of soil, and there is a need for continuous monitoring of these agrochemicals in soil. Objective: Three methods for the simultaneous determination of 12 pesticides belonging to eight chemical groups in soil samples were tested and compared based on analytical parameters. Methods: The quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe (QuEChERS); traditional solid-liquid extraction (SLE); and Soxhlet extraction were used for soil sample preparation, while detection and quantification of pesticides were performed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Results: The tested methods featured good sensitivity, and with the exception for carbofuran (Soxhlet method, LOD = 29 mu g/kg), for the rest of the pesticides, the studied LODs were less than 12 mu g/kg. Except for simazine and carbofuran, LODs obtained by Soxhlet extraction were lower than values obtained by other two methods, whereas QuEChERS gave lower LODs than the traditional SLE method for all compounds except atrazine and acetochlor. The recoveries obtained applying QuEChERS, traditional SLE, and Soxhlet methods for multiple analyses of soil samples fortified at 10,75, and 200 mu g/kg of each pesticide were in the ranges 54-103,40-91, and 12-92%, respectively. Except for chlorothalonil, the highest recoveries were obtained by the QuEChERS method. Soxhlet was better than traditional SLE method for chlorothalonil, heptachlor, and aldrin; organophosphorus pesticides (fenitrothion and diazinon) and trifluralin, gave similar recoveries for both methods. All three methods were proven to be repeatable, with RSDs lower than 19%. Conclusions: Although all tested methods showed as satisfactory regarding most analytical parameters, QuEChERS method showed much better results in terms of confidence, indicating that traditional SLE and Soxhlet extraction still need improvements for determination of multiclass pesticides in soil samples.

AB - Sunflower seed treatments are inevitable measure that ensures protection from soil-dwelling insects and pathogens at the first stages of plant development. Due to the ban of neonicotinoid based insecticides for the sunflower seed treatments, new registered preparations are put to test. The aim of this work was to assess the efficacy of currently registered insecticides against the wireworms (observed in field emergence and percent of damaged plants) and their effect on yield traits (yield, oil content and 1,000-seed weight) of the sunflower hybrids (Sumo 2 OR, Oliva and Novak) in comparison to previously used neonicotinoids. Seeds were treated with different pesticidal combinations: metalaxyl-m, metalaxyl-m + bifenthrine, metalaxyl-m + thiacloprid, metalaxyl-m + thiametoxam, and metalaxyl-m + imidacloprid. Two-way ANOVA and Duncan's multiple range tests were performed. Field emergence was not influenced by the treatment. Sumo 2 OR and Oliva emergence did not differ significantly among the treatments (78.3-88.3%; 83.0-91.3%, respectively), but for Novak it was significantly lower (79.3%) when treated with metalaxyl-m. The lowest percent of damaged plants was in the treatment with metalaxyl-m + thiametoxam (1.1-2.4%). However, it did not differ significantly among other treatments (2.4-3.9%), regardless on the hybrid. Novak had the highest average yield (3,938.1 kg/ha), followed by Sumo 2 OR (3,566.1 kg/ha), and Oliva (3,199.8 kg/ha), regardless on the applied seed treatments. The highest 1,000-seed weight was measured for Oliva. Given indicates that currently registered insecticides for the seed treatment of sunflower, such as Sonido and Semafor, can be adequate substitute to the banned neonicotinoids like Cruiser and Gaucho.

AB - Water extracts of three plant species of the genus Echium (E. italicum L., E. vulgare L. and E. rubrum Jacq.) were tested under laboratory conditions for their activity as potential post-harvest grain protectants against Plodia interpunctella (Hubner, 1813) (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) larvae. Antioxidative activity and total phenolic, flavonoid and tannin contents in plant extracts were determined. The larvicidal assays were conducted with the local population of P. interpunctella from Central Serbia on kernels of Takovoanka winter wheat cultivar. The experiment was set as factorial 3x3x3x3 block design type. Three groups of larvae of different maturity were used. The larvae were exposed to three different concentrations of water extracts (1%, 2% and 5%) of three listed plant species. Mortality was registered daily during 96 hours and the efficacy was calculated using Schneider-Orelli's formula. The largest number of dead larvae was recorded in the treatment of 1% extract of E. italicum on youngest group, after 72 and 96 h. Extracts of E. vulgare and E. rubrum did not show high larvicidal effect.

AB - The aim of this study was to select Vicia genotypes with higher polyphenol contents and increased antioxidant activity, and to compare them with soybean, the most widespread and utilized legume species grown in the region. The examined legumes showed similar contents of total polyphenolics and tannins in between specimen, but differed greatly in their flavonoids and proanthocynidins levels. The content of total polyphenols ranged from 1.6 to 6.09 catechin/g dry seeds, and tannins from 0.26 to 2.98 mg of catechin/g dry seeds. The flavonoids levels in Vicia species were much higher compared with soybean, while the content of proanthocyanidins ranged from 1.5 (in soybean) to 62.3 mg of leucoanthocyanidin/g dry seeds (in vetches). The gallic and trans-cinnamic acids were identified as major monomeric phenolic compounds, and quercetin among flavonoids was found in all specimens. Catechin was detected in faba bean and vetches but not in the soybean. The values of the DPPH-test varied in a range between 21.1 and 89.6% of neutralized radicals, which correlated with the total polyphenolics and tannin contents. The faba bean specimens showed favourable traits - high total polyphenolic, flavonoid and proanthocyanidin contents, low total tannin content, and high DPPH-radical scavenging ability.

AB - The undemanding LC-MS/MS method was developed for the synchronized analysis of atropine and scopolamine in maize crop. The dSPE was carried out with 1% acetic acid in acetonitrile/water and a mixture of magnesium sulphate, sodium chloride and sodium citrate. The analytes were separated on a Zorbax XDB C18 column using methanol/water as the mobile phase in gradient mode. The detection was done using a tandem masss spectrometry (MS/MS) in the positive ESI. The tropane alkaloids exhibited excellent linearity in the range of 2-20 µg/kg with the LOQ of 5 µg/kg for maize. The extraction recoveries of atropine and scopolamine were 65.7 and 85.5% with the intraday RSDr 10.25 and 4.29%, respectively. The validated method was appled to real maze samples. One sample contained 18.8 µg/kg of atropine and 6.3 µg/kg of scopolamine.

AB - Plodia interpunctella (Hübner), the Indian meal moth (IMM), is a major lepidopteran storage pest worldwide. IMM larvae can be found in high abundance in stored maize and cause huge losses in seed germination and seed viability. This work aimed to assess the susceptibility of six maize hybrids (NS 6140, NS 640, NS 1090, NS 444 - dent type, NS 620k - pop-corn type, Red-aleurone maize - maize with an altered aleuron color) to IMM attack and suitability for pest's development. Standard laboratory diet (SLD) was used as a positive control. Under laboratory conditions, the following IMM life history parameters were monitored: larval mortality, mean developmental duration (egg to adult), adult emergence, adult lifespan and female fecundity. Kernel susceptibility was determined based on the Susceptibility Index (SI). The highest mortality of IMM larvae was on NS 620k (35.25%) compared to the other maize hybrids (11.2-19.5%). The highest number of emerged adults was on Red-aleurone maize (17.5), and the lowest on NS 620k (4.0). The longest lifespan was recorded for moths reared on NS 6140 and NS 640 (8.5 and 8.7 days, respectively). The highest female fecundity was on SLD (115.8 eggs), on Red-aleurone maize (44.3 eggs), while females reared on NS 620k laid the lowest number of eggs (22.8 eggs). Moths reared on NS 620k had the shortest body sizes (0.9 cm), which indicated reduced moths fitness. SI showed that Redaleurone maize (SI=7.79) was the most susceptible to IMM attack, while NS 620k (SI=3.08) was the least susceptible.

Moths reared on NS 620k had the shortest body sizes (0.9 cm), which indicated reduced moths fitness. SI showed that Redaleurone maize (SI=7.79) was the most susceptible to IMM attack, while NS 620k (SI=3.08) was the least susceptible., Plodia interpunctella (Hübner), bakrenasti moljac (BM), jedna je od značajnijih štetočina u skladištima širom sveta.

AB - The contents of soluble free phenolics (SP), PVPP-bound tannins (PVPP-P), flavonoids (TF) and proanthocyanidins (PA), as well as the DPPH-radical scavenging capability, of the whole grain of 17 different Triticum spp. accessions were analyzed. The contents of SP ranged from 976 to 2927 mu g CE g(-1), of PVPP-P from 335 to 1412 mu g CE g(-1) and of TF from 0.16 to 1.12 mu g RE g(-1) of dry whole grain. The presence of PA in the whole grains was not established. The values for DPPH-radical scavenging activity were rather moderate, under 40 % of neutralized radicals. A positive correlation between DPPH-activity and analyzed phenolics was recorded in twelve of the seventeen genotypes (r from 0.73 to 0.99). trans-Cinnamic acid was the major compound among acids and quercetin among flavonoids found in the wheat varieties. The data obtained should enable the selection of the accessions rich in biologically active compounds that could further be processed into functional food with possible health benefits associated with higher antioxidant properties.

AB - Aldrin, endrin and dieldrin are highly toxic and persistent cyclodiene-type organochlorine pesticides. Although these compounds have been banned over the last few decades in many countries, they can still be found in the environment, especially in the agricultural soil. In order to determine the residue levels of cyclodiene-type organochlorine pesticides in soils of Vojvodina Province, and to obtain detailed information on their spatial distribution, 1370 soil samples under different land uses were collected from Vojvodina Province and analyzed for the presence of aldrin, dieldrin and endrin. The residues of those pesticides residues of those pesticides residues of those pesticides residues of those pesticides residues of those pesticides residues of those pesticides residues of those pesticides were detected in the soils of Vojvodina in measureable concentrations and dieldrin was the most dominant compound in the soil. However, the concentrations of analysed cyclodiene-type organochlorine pesticides in the most soil samples from Vojvodina province were lower than Dutch target values for soil quality. Soil organic matter and clay content were found to be positively associated with aldrin content while clay content was found to be negatively associated with endrin.

AB - Based on the number of individuals and percentage of encounters in the studied areas, it is concluded that ground beetles (Coleoptera: Carabidae) stand out in comparison to other beetles, which is proved by the qualitative and quantitative composition of the collected fauna (51 species and 4,420 individuals) in the field of wheat, sugar beet and maize. Starting from the domination of geobiotic insects which spend most of their life in soil and manifest their imaginal activity on the surface of soil, the method of "Barber's traps" was applied. Within this family the dominant and subdominant species during research were Anchomenus dorsalis, Poecilus cupreus, Harpalus rufipes, Calosoma auropunctatum, Harpalu distinguendus and many others. 24 carabids species were determined using the COI mtDNA, i.e. 8 species which don't have reference sequence in the gene bank were determined and this contributes to the global bar-code database. The representatives of ground beetle family are of certain economic significance as well. They can appear as pests; on the other hand, they are known to be very beneficial i.e. as regulators of number of harmful insects as reported in numerous research papers of various authors.

AB - Irrigation is one of the most important uses of surface waters in the agricultural region of Vojvodina province (Serbia). The aim of the study was to assess the quality of water from Stara Tisa meander, based on the levels of pollution with metals, volatile compounds (VOC), pharmaceuticals, pesticides, and pathogenic bacteria, on sunflower, cabbage, cucumber, maize, barley, buckwheat, sorghum, radish, beans, and white mustard. Microbiological analysis was carried out using the dilution method and phytotoxicity assay according to ISTA filter paper method (germination energy (GE), germination (G), root and shoot length, fresh and dry weight). The sample was slightly contaminated with domestic, industrial, and agricultural xenobiotics and had low levels of nitrogen substances, metals, and organic micropollutants. Pesticides, metolachlor, tebuconazole, propiconazole, imidacloprid, and thiametoxam were detected at levels exceeding the maximum admissible concentrations (MACs), i.e., the sum value for neonicotinoids. The number of saprophytic (2.27 x 10(6) CFU mL(-1)) and coliform bacteria (5.33 x 10(2) CFU mL(-1)) was very high. The total number of sulphite reducing clostridia (10 cells mL(-1)) and Escherichia coli (5 cells mL(-1)) was very low. The GE and G of all tested plants, except sunflower, were not influenced by the total chemism of water sample. However, it inhibited root lengths of sunflower, cucumber, maize, and barley and stimulated shoot lengths of all species except maize and white mustard. These results indicate that it can be used for irrigation of cabbage and radish from the chemical point of view, but the microbiological traits should be considered prior to consumption since they are consumed raw. The overall results suggest that water from Stara Tisa should be purified before using for agricultural purposes.

AB - A new electrochemical method for determination of imidacloprid using chronopotentiometry on thin film mercury and glassy carbon electrode was presented. The most important experimental parameters of chronopotentiometry were examined and optimized with respect to imidacloprid analytical signal. Imidacloprid provided well-defined reduction peak in Britton-Robinson buffer on thin film mercury electrode at -1.0V (versus Ag/AgCl (KCl, 3.5 mol/L)) and on glassy carbon electrode at -1.2V (versus Ag/AgCl (KCl, 3.5mol/L)). The reduction time was linearly proportional to concentrations from 0.8 to 30.0 mg/L on thin film mercury electrode and from 7.0 to 70.0mg/L on glassy carbon electrode. The detection limits were 0.17mg/L and 0.93mg/L for thin film mercury and glassy carbon electrode, respectively. The estimation of method precision as a function of repeatability and reproducibility showed relative standard deviations values lower than 3.73%. Recovery values from 97.3 to 98.1% confirmed the accuracy of the proposed method, while the constancy of the transition time with deliberated small changes in the experimental parameters indicated a very good robustness. A minor influence of possible interfering compounds proved good selectivity of the method. Developed method was applied for imidacloprid determination in commercial pesticide formulations and river water samples.

Developed method was applied for imidacloprid determination in commercial pesticide formulations and river water samples.",

AB - This paper describes an electroanalytical method for the determination of metribuzin using a thin film mercury electrode by chronopotentiometry. Research included optimization of the most important parameters of chronopotentiometric analysis and the best responses were achieved in Britton-Robinson buffer at pH 5.0, using an initial potential of -0.21 V, ending potential of -1.1 V, and reduction current in the range from -4 mu A to -15 mA. Under these conditions, metribuzin was reduced in an irreversible electrode reaction process with one well-defined reduction wave at -0.83 V (vs. Ag/AgCl, KCl, 3.5 mol dm(-3)). A linear response was observed for three concentration ranges 1-5, 5-15 and 15-30 mg dm(-3), with an achieved limit of detection of 0.042 mg dm(-3). The precision was determined as a function of repeatability and reproducibility, which showed relative standard deviation values not higher than 3.18%. Various interfering substances did not interfere with metribuzin determination. The proposed method was successfully applied to tap and river water samples. The recovery values obtained for spiked river water samples were in good statistical agreement with those obtained by the LC-MS/MS method. Accordingly, the proposed chronopotentiometric methodology can be conveniently applied in the quality control of environmental water samples as a simple, sensitive, reliable and low cost method.

AB - Plants have the ability to synthesize secondary metabolites, biologically active substances involved in defense mechanisms against insects, pathogenic fungy and bacteria. Biochemical bases of their activity are related to the presence of specific molecules, among others, phenolic compounds. The aim of this study was to develop the validated method for the determination and quantification of phenolic acids, kaempferol and quercetin in ethanol leaf extracts of Morus alba L. and Halascya sendtneri (Boiss.) and leaf and bark extract of Ailanthus altissima (Mill.). The separation, quantification and validation of the individual phenols were performed by high performance liquid chromatography with diode-array detection (HPLC-DAD). The HPLC-DAD separation was achieved using a ZORBAX SB-Aq (5 μm particle size: 4.6 x 250 mm, Agilent). The mobile phase was acetonitrile with 2.0% acetic acid and Milli-Q water with 2.0% acetic acid in gradient mode, with the flow rate 1.0 ml/min. The obtained LOQs for all investigated phenolic acids were 0.03 μg/ml. The precision values, expressed as relative standard deviation (RSD, %), were lower than 10.19%. The developed HPLC-DAD chromatographic procedure exhibits linearity (R2>0.99) for the concentrations from 10.0 to 100.0 µg/ml with the repeatability RSD less than 12.00%. An efficient, sensitive and reliable method is developed which can be applied in the analysis of real plant material samples to ferulic, trans-cinnamic, 2-hydroxy cinamic, gallic, caffeic, p-coumaric and chlorogenic acid, kaempferol and quercetin.

AB - Extensive use of synthetic insecticides, herbicides and other pesticides has negative effects on the environment and on human and animal health. Therefore, scientists are turning towards natural pesticides, such as active components of plant extracts. The effect of two concentrations (0.1 and 0.2 %) of a Satureja montana L. aqueous extract on the lipid peroxidation process, as well as on the activity of the antioxidant enzymes superoxide dismutase (SOD), guaiacol peroxidase (GPX), pyrogallol peroxidase (PPX) and catalase (CAT) in the leaves and roots of pepper and black nightshade seedlings were examined 24, 72 and 120 h after treatment. The results showed that the higher concentration of S. montana aqueous extract induced lipid peroxidation in black nightshade roots. Furthermore, significant increases of pyrogallol and guaiacol peroxidase were detected in black nightshade leaves treated with 0.2 % of the S. montana aqueous extract. The second aim was to evaluate effectiveness of the aqueous extract as a contact toxicant against whitefly. It was observed that the 0.2% aqueous extract exhibited a toxic effect with 68.33 % mortality after 96 h.

AB - The aim of this study was to carry out comparative assessment of pollution level of water from Aleksandrovacki canal, Serbia, using both chemical methods and phytoindicators, and to estimate its potential use for irrigation of four most commonly cultivated plant species in this area (maize, barley, cucumber and white mustard). The effect of water quality and/or pollution was assessed in bioassay, according to changes in physiological (seed germination energy, germination) and morphological parameters (root and shoot length -cm and fresh and dry weight of root and shoot-g) of tested species. The chemical analysis of water determined a high content of suspended substances, nutrients, ammonium ion, total nitrogen, organic matter with low degradability, total organic carbon, orthophosphates, total phosphorus, arsenic and chromium. The response of phyto-indicators to water quality and mixed pollution was species-dependant. Germination of maize, cucumber and white mustard was not under the influence of water quality, while barley seeds germinated in significantly lower percentage in water from the canal (95%) compared to the control (100%). Canals water inhibited root elongation of maize and barley and stimulated of white mustard (p lt 0.01) compared to the control. Shoot length of barley, cucumber and white mustard was not under the influence of water quality (p>0.05). Biomass was differently affected by water from the canal.

AB - In plant protection a number of pesticide products, depending on formulation type, is applied previously diluted in water which differ in quality. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of water pH on pH value of spray liquids of fungicides (azoxystrobin, mancozeb), insecticides (thiamethoxam, cypermethrin), non-pesticide substances (complex fertiliser, adjuvant) and their mixtures. pH values of spray liquids were determined potentiometrically, immediately after preparation and after 24 h in the following waters: well water (Adice) - slightly alkaline (pH 7.90, 34.7 d degrees H, NO(2)2.5mg/l); tap water (Novi Sad) - neutral (pH 7.42, 15.4 d degrees H) and surface water (Sava) - slightly alkaline (pH 8.15, 11.7 d degrees H, NO2 0.18 mg/l, NH3 0.93 mg/l). Regardless of quality and pH of the water and pesticide compounds, pH value of spray liquids without complex fertiliser was in the range from 7.3 to 8.2 from application to 24 h. However, regardless of pH of water and pesticide compounds, all variants containing complex fertiliser had pH between 5.7 and 6.9, which points to possibility of correcting pH values of spray liquids with this fertiliser when the time of pesticide application coincides with fertilisation.

AB - A total of 45 samples of wheat from three different locations in Vojvodina were analyzed for the presence of zearalenone. Analytical methods based on clean-up by solid-phase extraction (SPE) columns and detection by liquid chromatography were used after validation. Limit of detection for ZEA in wheat was 18.6 μg/kg and the limit of quantification was 56.5 μg/kg. Recovery values ranged between 86% and 97%. The occurrence of ZEA in wheat was rather high with 53.3% of positive samples with the average value of 330 μg/kg. Incidences were found from 68 μg/kg to 1079 μg/kg. Contamination levels were above the established maximum limit for unprocessed cereals, other than maize, in as many as seventeen samples. These results were compared to the results of investigation of deoxynivalenol and fumonisin content, established in our previous work on the same samples. The results obtained were also compared to those of the neighboring countries where the relevant data existed and to the data of previous studies in our country.

AB - The programmes for pesticide residues monitoring in food which are continually carried out in the world ensure that the consumers are not exposed to pesticide residues as well as that only the registered compounds are used in the production. All the member countries of the EU are obliged to observe the official control of pesticide residues in food, in accordance with the Regulations EC 396/2005. At present, in the Republic of Serbia, the programme for monitoring the pesticide residues in food is being prepared as the results of numerous analyses of random samples of fruit, in the market over the past years justify the introduction of such a programme.

AB - The fruit consumption nowadays is increasing around the world, almost 170 kg/person/year [1] present, the pesticides are widely used for fruit protection and their excessive use may be harmful to people’s health so the content of their residues needs to be controlled. Our studies comprised the determination of the pesticide residues content in 297 fruit samples from the market of the Rep of Serbia taken during 2005-2007 (14 samples of blackberries, 16 samples of strawberries, 13 samples of plums, 182 of apples. 54 samples of raspberries and 18 samples of pears) by gas chromatography with NPD, ECD and GLC-MS. The samples were tested regarding the content of 75 pesticides, with LOD from 0,001 to 0.005 mg/kg. Out of 13 samples of plums in 4 of them pesticide residues were not detected, while in the others procymidone, vinclozolin, endosulfan | methidathion, cypermethrin, lambda-cyhalothrin, furadan and SDDT+methidathion were present | All the obtained values were below the EU MRLs. In 182 samples of apples 56.59% did not cont pesticide residues while 25.32% samples contained endosulfan. Out of 7 samples positive to parathion 5 of them contained parathion residues over the EU MRLs. The two other samples contained lambda-cyhalothrin and procymidone respectively over the EU MRLs. The analyzed a ; samples of blackberries had the highest content of the residues of dithiocarbamate 64.29%, a chlorpyrifos 57.14% and vinclozolin 35.17% within the limits of the EU MRLs, while in two samples the residues were not detected. Out of 16 samples of strawberries two of them were W pesticide residues. Chlorpyrifos was detected in 9 samples out of which 2 were over the EU M dithiocarbamate were detected in 8 samples and out of 7 samples with parathion residues 3 of contained residues over the EU MRLs. One sample positive to cypermethrin and five samples
positive to dimethoate had the values over the EU MRLs.
