dc.description.abstract | Maize is the first crop in Serbia. Maize breeding in the Research institute of field and vegetable crops has long tradition. So far we have released 198 Maize hybrids in Serbia and 55 of them we have released in foreign countries. MS maize hybrids cover around 60% of maize surface in our country and significant surface in abroad. The most spread maize hybrid in the last decade in our country is MS 640. In the last years a few new hybrids oppcored: MS 3014, MS 444 Ulztra-resistant against herbicide focus ultra for narrow leaves weeds, MS 4015, MS 4010, MS 510, MS 5043, MS 6010, Zenit, MS 6030, Radan, Tisa and MS 770 Yield potential of MS maize hybrids from FAO 600 maturity group is over 20 tones per hectare. Maize department with a well trained breeding team, with a very good breeding material, with good equipments and with a good relation with colleagues from extension services and our producer and long tradition in breeding has a good chances to be leader in maize breeding in future too. | en |
