Praćenje degradacije tiametoksama i metabolita klotianidina, je rađeno u cilju ispitivanja vremena razgradnje i njihovog prisustva u različitim fazama razvoja biljke (2 para pravih listova, 6 listova, zvezda, butonizacija i potpuno cvetanje).
AB - The goal of this study is to monitor the fate of thiamethoxam and clothianidin, in sunflower plants, after treating the seeds with this neonicotinoid (Cruiser 600 FS). Olive and Novak sunflower hybrids were used in the experiment. Monitoring of degradation of thiamethoxam and clothianidin was done in order to examine the time of degradation and their presence in different phases of the plant (2 pairs of true leaves, 6 leaves, stars, budding and full flowering). Thiamethoxam and clothianidin residues were determined by liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) using carbofuran-D3 as an internal standard, after the QuEChERS extraction of sunflower plant samples. Obtained data indicate that the neonicotinoids branched to the stage of complete flowering, ie that they were not detected after the budding phase.

AB - The interest in tropane alkaloids (TA) as food contaminants is increasing. A sensitive and selective LC-MS/MS method was applied for the analysis of corn puff samples from the Serbian market. Only atropine was quantified in 22% of the samples. In case of scopolamine, although not quantified, it was detected in 22% of the samples. Whether the acute reference dose (ARfD) could be exceeded was checked on a case-by-case basis for the individual products under assessment. Due to their low body weight and relatively high snack consumption, preschool children were at the highest risk of TA exposure. Assuming that the average consumption is 50 g of corn puffs per day, the sample with the highest concentration of TAs (2.05 µg/kg, 1.58 μg/kg of atropine) could contribute with 32.0% to the ARfD, of which 24.7% owing to atropine. If the same amount of corn puffs is consumed by older age classes, corresponding exposure contributions to the ARfD would progressively decline, down to 8.4% for adult population. The study revealed no health risk from TAs exposure through the consumption of the corn puffs in Serbian population.

AB - Gypsy moth (Lymantria dispar (L.) is one of most important defoliating pests of deciduous trees. Due to increased environmental demands, the use of plant-based preparations is gaining in importance as a control option for this pest in forestry, agriculture and horticulture. The aim of this study was to evaluate antifeeding and insecticidal activity of 0.5, 1 and 2% extracts of Ailanthus altissima bark and leaves, and Morus alba leaves, against L. dispar larvae under laboratory conditions. Antioxidant capacity of plant extracts was determined, as well as the content of phenolic compounds by spectrophotometric and HPLC-DAD methods. Antifeeding and insecticidal effects were tested in a “no-choice” test. The highest content of all bioactive phenolic compounds was in A. altissima bark and M. alba leaf extracts. The lowest leaf consumption after 24 and 48 h was in A. аltissima bark (5.03, 9.30%, respectively) and M. alba leaf (1.44, 3.22%, respectively) extracts. A. altissima bark and M. alba leaf extracts expressed strong antifeeding activity. After 24 h, all extracts expressed slight insecticidal effect (2.25-17.50% of mortality). The mortality increased after 48 h in treatments with A. altissima bark extract, at all applied concentrations (40.0-57.50%) and M. alba leaves at 1 and 2% concentrations (30.0-62.50%). Our results indicate that extracts of A. altissima bark and M. alba leaves may act as effective low-cost natural protectants able to control the presence of gypsy moth in ecosystems. Extracts of A. altissima bark and M. alba leaves expressed strong antifeeding activity and significant insecticidal effect on gypsy moth larvae, at all applied concentrations.

AB - The LC–MS/MS was applied for the detection of pesticide residues in watermelons. Since watermelons are predominantly used as fresh food and to a lesser extent in food processing there is a justified concern that, due to treatments, they can contain pesticide residues above the maximum residue levels – MRLs. The pesticide extraction was carried out by QuEChERS method. The samples were tested regarding the content of 55 pesticides with the carbofuran-D3 as internal standard. The linearity was studied in the range of 0.01–0.50 mg/kg and the determination coefficients (R2) were higher than 0.99 for all the investigated pesticides. The calibration was performed as matrix calibration, by means of spiking the calibration samples before the extraction and preparing them in the same way as the test samples. The recovery data were obtained by spiking blank samples at three concentration levels (0.01, 0.05 and 0.1 mg/kg) yielding recoveries in the range of 61.0–114.2% with the relative standard deviation (RSD) less than 13%. The limits of quantification (LOQs) were established as 0.01 mg/kg. The multiple detections were confirmed in the analysed samples. The most frequently detected pesticides were carbendazim, acetamiprid, tefluthrin and fenpropimorph. In only one sample the concentrations of carbendazim and tefluthrin were above the MRLs.

AB - Soil and water of adequate quality are essential for food safety, However, the intensive use of pesticides,
especially triazine based herbicides, in recent decades, has led to an accumulation of their residues in the environment.
This essay presents the results of monitoring and analysis of atrazine residues in samples of ground water aquifer and
soil collected in the vicinity of wells, in areas under intensive agricultural production in the region of Srem, where
atrazine has been applied for many years. Residue levels of atrazine were analyzed by GC/NPD, and the results showed
that its average value in samples of groundwater was 0.123 mg/l, and 0.038 mg/kg in soil. These values indicate that
groundwater and soil from this region generally fulfill the requirements of agricultural production.

AB - The residues of pesticides in fruit are the consequence of their direct application in the agricultural production. In order to comprehend in what condition
the pesticide residues in fruit are and how hazardous they are to human health, it is
essential to carry out a long-lasting monitoring of their residue content and to create a
data base and a base of contaminant contents.
The fruit consumption nowadays is increasing in the world, almost 170
kg/person/year. Since the pesticides are widely used for fruit protection at present,
their excessive use can jeopardize human health so the content of their residues must
be checked on.
Our study comprised the determination of pesticide residue content in 108
samples of apples from the market of the Republic of Serbia taken during 2004-2007
(27 samples were analyzed in 2004, 55 samples in 2005, 30 samples in 2006 and 13
samples in 2007). The pesticide residues were determined by gas chromatography with
NPD, ECD and GLC - MS. The samples were tested for the content of 75 pesticides with
LOD of 0.001 to 0.005 mg/kg which were lower than MRLs according to the EU
standards. The relative standard deviation was lower than 19% for all the tested
compounds. In the apple samples taken during 2004, the percentage of the samples
positive to the pesticide residue content was 51.85% and the most frequent
contaminants were £ HCH (50% of positive samples) and endosulfan (28.57%) whereas
the content of all the other pesticide residues was below the EU MRLs. In the analyzed
samples, taken during 2005, out of 70.91% samples in which the pesticide residues
were detected, endosulfan was present in 41.03%, captan in 35.9%, chlorpyrifos in
20.51% and parathion in 17.95% (with 71.43% residue over the EU MRLs) samples.
The content of the procymidone residue was detected in two samples as well as
the content of lambda-cyhalothrin found in one sample was over the EU MRLs. During
2006 thirteen samples of apples were analyzed in which no pesticide residues were
detected. Out of 13 samples analyzed in 2007, five contained the pesticide residues
below the EU MRLs with the most frequently detected dithiocarbamate (3 samples).
The high percentage of samples positive to the pesticide residue content is a
warning that in the production conditions a continuous and multi-level monitoring of
food safety needs to be a regular practice aiming at the successful prevention of
harmful effects of pesticides on the health of people and animals.
