AB  - With the aim to evaluate the general condition and possible degradation of soil in the Vojvodina Province, soil samples were collected from 1,600 locations. The main chemical properties of the soil, levels of harmful and hazardous substances, the abundance and enzymatic activity of microorganisms, and pesticide residues and the products of their degradation were studied. The health condition of irrigated soils was studied in particular, since salinity and alkalization occur frequently in irrigated fields. It can be concluded from the results that the soils of the Vojvodina Province are still suitable for the production of quality and safe food.
AB  - U ovom radu ukratko su prikazani rezultati rada naučnih radnika Naučnog instituta za ratarstvo i povrtarstvo i Poljoprivrednog fakulteta u Novom Sadu, na Projektu "Kontrola plodnosti zemljišta i utvrđivanje sadržaja štetnih i opasnih materija u zemljištima Vojvodine" i rada na pilot "Osnovi zaštite, uređenja i korišćenja poljoprivrednog zemljišta za opštinu Bački Petrovac", koji su se odvijali u toku 1992. i 1993. god. U preko 3.000 uzoraka zemljišta analizirana su: osnovna hemijska svojstva zemljišta sadržaj opasnih i štetnih materija u zemljištu, brojnost i enzimatska aktivnost mikroorganizama, ostaci pesticida i produkti njihove degradacije u sistemima za navodnjavanje određivan je i salinitet zemljišta kao i sastav vodorastvorljivih i apsorbovanih katjona.

Inheritance of increased oleic acid content in sunflower seed oil

AB  - The inheritance of increased (mid) oleic acid content about 62% of an inbred line, LG27, was studied in the crosses with high oleic HA89OL (89%), high oleic LG26OL (86%) and low oleic LG28 (22%). Fatty acid composition of single seeds was determined by gas chromatography of methyl esters. The crosses of high x increased oleic and high x low oleic genotypes revealed the genetic control on oleic acid content with multiple allelism. Three alleles of one gene - dominant Ol, recessive ol1 and recessive ol lead in homozygote to the high, increased and low oleic phenotypes, respectively. Genetic segregations in F2 and BC of the cross of increased x low oleic lines did not show clear-cut phenotypic classes. No maternal inheritance was observed. .
AB  - Nasleđivanje sadržaja oleinske kiseline proučavano je kod inbred linije sa povišenim (srednjim) sadržajem oleinske kiseline. LG27 (oko 62%) ukrštane su visoko-oleinskom linijom HA890L (89%), visoko-oleinskom linijom LG260L (86%) i nisko-oleinskom linijom LG28 (22%). Sastav masnih kiselina kod pojedinačnih zrna utvrđivan je gasnom hromatografijom metil estera. Ukrštanjem genotipova sa visokim i povećanim sadržajem oleinske kiseline i genotipova sa visokim i niskim sadržajem utvrđeno je da se sadržaj oleinske kiseline nalazi pod genetskom kontrolom više alela. Tri alela jednoga gena - dominantna Ol, recesivna ol1 i recesivna ol - dovode do stvaranja homozigotnih fenotipova sa visokim, povišenim i niskim sadržajem oleinske kiseline. Genetska razdvajanja u F2 i BC generacijama ukrštanja genotipova sa povišenim i niskim sadržajem oleinske kiseline nisu ukazala na jasno izdvojene fenotipske kategorije. Takođe nije utvrđeno prisustvo majčinskog nasleđivanja. .

AB  - Tokom 1995. godine obavljena su poljska i laboratorijska istraživanja sa ciljem utvrđivanja međuzavisnosti aktivnosti enzima metabolizma azota na prinos zrna i sadržaj rastvorljivih proteina soje. Aktivnosti sva tri ispitivana enzima (NG, NR i GDH) bila su u negativhoj korelaciji sa prinosom zrna, i u pozitivnoj korelaciji sa sadržajem rastvorljivih proteina. Path-koeficijent analiza pokazala je da je direktan efekat aktivnosti NG pozitivan u odnosu na oba ispitivana svojstva, dok su direktni efekti NR i GDH negativni. Dobijeni rezultati pokazali su da aktivnost NG ima primarnu ulogu u procesima metabolizma azota u biljkama soje.

AB  - Field and laboratory tests were performed in 1995 in order to find out the effect of interdependance of enzyme activity of nitrogen metabolism on grain yield and content of soluble proteins in soybean. The activities of all three tested enzymes (nitrogenase, NG; nitrate reductase, NR and glutamate dehydrogenase, GDH) were in negative correlation with grain yield and in positive correlation with the content of soluble proteins. Path coefficient analysis showed that direct effect of NG activity was positive when compared to both tested characteristics, while the direct effects of NR and GDH were negative.

AB  - The development of fruit and seed tissues of Prunus persica L. Batsch cultivars 'Springcrest', 'Redhaven' and 'Suncrest' was studied in three consecutive years. Morphological and compositional changes in the embryo were related to the double sigmoid pattern of development in the pericarp. When the fruit of the early maturing cultivar, 'Springcrest', ripened the embryo had not developed to fill the ovule but it was morphologically complete and capable of normal germination under laboratory conditions. Only minor differences were noted in the rates of morphological differentiation of the three cultivars. However, when fruit ripened, the lipid content was about 7%, 38% and 59% of the seed dry matter in the early, midseason and late cultivars, respectively. The main reason for low field germination of early varieties appears to be a deficiency of energy reserve to ensure survival during low temperature after ripening.
