Sara, winter wheat variety
Sara, ozima sorta pšenice
Abstract
Sara is a winter wheat variety developed at the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Novi Sad, Yugoslavia, by crossing genetically divergent and highly productive parents Partizanka, Jedina and Evropa 90. It was releazed by the Federal Commission for Varietal Approval in 1999 (Breeders T. Misic, N. Mladenov, R. Jevtic, L. Pankovic and N. Hristov). Spike is white, smooth, awnless, medium compact with 19-22 spikelets, the grain is vitreous and dark red (Triticum aestivum L. ssp. vulgare var. lutescens). Sara is a medium late variety, 2 days earlier than standard Jugoslavia (Table 4). It has good resistance to winterkilling. The average stem height is 82.4 cm, with a good resistance to lodging. Sara has field resistance to leaf rust (Puce, recondita tritici), horisontal resistance, which is the type of resistance that modern wheat breeding is interested in. The resistance to stem rust (Puce, graminis tritici) and to powdery mildew (Erysiphe graminis tritici) is very good. The absolut...e 1000 grain mass is about 34 g and volume grain mass 80.1 kg/hl (Table 2). Sara is classified in the subgroup A2. It has excellent milling and baking quality and it belongs to the 1st technological group (quality enhancer). The quantity of dry gluten is about 9%. Sara is a very productive variety with the genetic potential for grain yield over 11 t/ha, suitable for growing on fertile and less fertile soils. A plastic variety. It has started to be grown commercially in 2000.
Ozima srednje kasna sorta pšenice Sara stvorena je metodom trojne hibridizacije u nizu osobina genetički divergentnih intenzivnih sorti Partizanka, Jedina i Evropa. U ovoj sorti su uspešno kombinovani geni odgovorni za genetički potencijal za prinos zrna iznad 11 t/ha, odličan tehnološki kvalitet na nivou poboljšivača, srednje kasno vreme zrenja, za dobru otpornost prema poleganju i niskim temperaturama i vrlo dobru otpornost prema lisnoj i stabljičnoj rđi i pepelnici (Pucc. recondita tritici, Pucc. graminis tritici i Erysiphe graminis tritici). Dosta je plastična sorta. Priznata je u SR Jugoslaviji 1999. godine (sel.: Mišić, T., Mladenov, N. Jevtić, R., Panković, L. i Hristov, N). Perspektivna je sorta.
