Uticaj zelene povrtne i braon mramoraste stenice na morfološke osobine soje

AB  - Brojnost zelene povrtne stenice, Nezara viridula (L), i braon mramoraste stenice, Halyomorpha halys (Stål), od njihove pojave na teritoriji Evrope je u stalnom porastu. Ove dve polifagne vrste iz familije Pentatomidae pričinjavaju značajne štete u voćarskoj i povrtarskoj proizvodnji ali poslednjih godina i u ratarskoj proizvodnji, prvenstveno u proizvodnji soje. Imajući u vidu da su obe vrste relativno skoro introdukovane na područje Srbije podaci o njihovoj biologiji, potencijalnoj štetnosti i mogućnostima suzbijanja su malobrojni i nedovoljni. Da bi se ispitala njihova štetnost po usev soje izvedeni su ogledi u polukontrolisanim poljskim uslovima tokom 2018. i 2019. godine. Za procenu uticaja stenica na morfološke osobine soje postavljeni su kavezi za izolaciju, koji su se sastojali od metalne konstrukcije prečnika jedan metar i visine 1.8 metara, prekrivene platnom sa otvorima prečnika 1 mm. U svakom kavezu se nalazilo po 10 biljaka soje.

Comparison of quality parameters of non-pelleted and newly developed pelleted lettuce seed

AB  - Lettuce is one of the most common types of leafy vegetables in human diet that is grown worldwide. Narrow and very small seeds make its sowing very difficult, requiring a lot of time and labour. Also, plants produced by manual sowing are often characterized by uneven germination. Those problems could be prevented by sowing pelleted seeds which require the development of adequate pelleting technology. Absence of quality lettuce seeds in the Serbian market results in large amounts of imported pelleted seeds every year. The aim of this study was to develop a domestic pelleting procedure and examine its effects on seeds quality parameters, in order to provide seeds to local farmers at a more affordable price compared to imported commercial pelleted seeds. Pelleted and non-pelleted seeds of the Panukia F1 hybrid were compared in several quality characteristics (1000 seed weight, germination energy, germination percentage, seedling length) in laboratory and greenhouse conditions. There was no loss in seed quality with the pelleting process, although the seed weight increased 12-19 times. Pelleted lettuce seeds had very high germination energy and seed germination (97-98%). In greenhouse conditions, non-pelleted seeds sprouted unevenly in relation to pelleted seeds. These results confirm the advantages of sowing pelleted seeds in terms of uniform germination and development of lettuce plants, primarily due to the precision of mechanical sowing. By offering domestic pelleting lettuce seeds to the growers, the production process would be significantly improved and accelerated with the reduction of manual labour, and therefore the overall production cost
AB  - Zelena salata je među najzastupljenijim vrstama lisnatog povrća u ljudskoj ishrani koja se uzgaja širom sveta. Nedostatak kvalitetnog semena zelene salate na srpskom tržištu uzrokuje uvoz velikih količina piliranog semena svake godine. Usko i veoma sitno seme otežava setvu i zahteva mnogo vremena i rada. Takođe, biljke proizvedene ručnom setvom semena često se odlikuju neujednačenim nicanjem. Ovi problemi mogu se sprečiti setvom piliranog semena što zahteva razvoj adekvatne tehnologije piliranja. Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je da se razvije domaći postupak piliranja semena zelene salete i da se ispita njegov uticaj na parametre kvaliteta semena kako bi se lokalnim poljoprivrednim proizvođačima obezbedilo seme po pristupačnijoj ceni u odnosu na uvozno pilirano seme. Pilirano i nepilirano seme hibrida Panukia F1 poređeno je u nekoliko parametara kvaliteta (masa 1000 semena, energija klijanja, procenat klijavosti, dužina ponika) u laboratorijskim uslovima i proizvodnim uslovima u stakleniku. Piliranje nije uticalo na gubitak kvaliteta semena iako je masa semena piliranjem povećana od 12 do 19 puta. Pilirano seme zelene salate imalo je veoma visoku energiju klijanja i klijavost semena (97-98%). U proizvodnim uslovima u stakleniku, nepilirano seme je nicalo neujednačeno u odnosu na pilirano seme. Ovi rezultati potvrđuju prednost setve piliranog semena u pogledu ujednačenijeg nicanja i razvoja biljaka, prvenstveno zbog preciznosti setve piliranog semena. Ponudom domaćeg piliranog semena zelene salate proizvođačima značajno bi se unapredio i ubrzao proces proizvodnje uz smanjenje ručnog rada, a samim tim i ukupnih troškova proizvodnje.

AB  - During the recent years, sugar beet production has been declining due to multiple reasons. Low price of the sugar on the world market, high-cost production of sugar beet, changes in the agricultural policy of EU, lower level of subsidies for growers and sugar industry, the rise of the ecological awareness all together lowered its production and changed the crop structure of many areas and growers. However, sugar beet remains the main source of sugar in many temperate climate regions of the world and in countries such as Argentina, Bulgaria, Romania, Russia, Ukraine. Globalization is the importance of ecology in our daily life, and other new trends in the world economy are creating different changes in all the aspect of human life. Intercropping is a relatively old and well-known agricultural technique with the purpose of improving the agricultural systems through principles of biological interactions and plant symbiosis. Intercropping improves plant production in many ways—the rise of biodiversity, land preservation and conservancy of water resources, lower production risks, and higher revenues. In recent years, the interest in intercropping is growing especially in the developing countries. This is common practice in fodder production where certain grass species are grown together with some compatible legume plants. Sugar beet can be grown in the intercropping system with a variety of plant species such as barley, canola, lentil, mustard, onion, rice, bean, soybean, poppy, and many more agricultural plants.

AB  - The evaluation of genotype x environment interaction (GXE) is an important component of the selection process in multi-environment trials. The objective of this study was to analyze the GXE interaction for seed yield (SY), germination rate (GR), thousand seed weight (TSW) and protein content (PC) of 18 sunflower parental lines through the application of AMMI analysis, as well as to identify suitable sunflower parental lines with both high performance and high stability. Highly significant differences for SY, GR, TSW and PC were found for main effects (genotypes, years). For all investigated traits GXE interaction was also highly significant, suggesting a different response of genotypes across testing environments. Highest SY was shown by genotypes G12, G14 and G17. Most stable lines for seed yield were Gl, G2, G18 and G17. High stability in terms of GR showed the genotypes G3, G11 and G15, with average values higher than the general average. In the three-year experiment environment E3 was most stable for GR. Genotypes G2, G4, G5, G6 and G7 were stable for TSW. Similar average values and stability for TSW showed E2 and E3. The lines with the most stable reaction in the examined environmental conditions for PC were G7 and G10. The most stable environment for PC was E3.

Uticaj roka setve šećerne repe na procenat truleži u 2018. godini

AB  - Trulež korena poslednjih nekoliko godina nanosi najveće štete u proizvodnji šećerne repe. Na području severne Srbije u 2018. godini zabeleženi su ogromni gubici zbog velikog procenta trule repe koji se kretao i do 50%. Na oglednoj parceli Instituta za ratarstvo i povrtarstvo ispitivan je procenat truleži u zavisnosti od roka setve i gajenih hibrida šećerne repe. Rezultati analize varijanse dvofaktorijalnog ogleda su pokazali da su uticaj hibrida, roka setve i interakcije između hibrida i roka setve imali značajan efekat na pojavu truleži korena šećerne repe. Testom najmanje značajne razlike utvrđene su razlike u pogledu truleži
između pojedinačnih hibrida i rokova setve. Najmanje trule repe je zabeleženo kod hibrida Nansen i Tajfun, dok je najveći prosek trulog korena utvrđen kod hibrida Vandana. Među ispitivanim rokovima setve najveći procenat trule repe zabeležen je u drugom roku. Ostaje pitanje koji su primarni uzročnici pojave truleži, jer dobijeni rezultati ukazuju da je bolest truleži korena posledica, dok nam pravi uzrok slabosti biljaka šećerne repe i prilagođavanja uslovima sredine i dalje ostaje nepoznat.
AB  - During the last few years sugar beet root rot has caused the greatest losses in sugar beet cultivation. A northern part of Serbia, main region of sugar beet production was especially hit by large percentage of infected roots in growing season of 2018. Field plots of IFVCNS were used for determining root rot percentage in sugar beet plants at different hybrids and planting dates. ANOVA results showed that hybrids, planting dates and their interaction had significant effect on the root rot. The least significant differences from the aspect of root rot infection were found between individual hybrids and planting dates. The lowest level of root rot had hybrids Nansen and Tajfun while the highest score of rot was recorded at hybrid Vandana. Second planting date had the highest level root rot. However questions which are the primary reasons for this disease is still open, since the results suggest that fungal infection is only the consequence of the disease, while the real reasons of weak plant response and their adaptation to environmental factors remains unknown.

AB  - Early emergence and seedling growth is considered as one of the most important yield-contributing factors in maize. Seed priming has been successfully used for improving these traits in different crops. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of seed priming treatments (hydropriming and KNO3) on emergence and seedling growth traits, inbred line’s response to seed priming treatments as well as to evaluate the application of GT biplot methodology in this type of analysis. Observation was made on 10 maize inbred lines. Testing was conducted in sterile moistened sand at suboptimal (15°C) and optimal temperature (25°C) for early maize growth traits. Results showed that seedling emergence and growth of maize lines under both temperatures could be improved with seed priming. In most of lines, seed priming improved certain emergence and seedling growth traits; however, in some lines it had adverse effect on seedling emergence traits. Some lines responded better to hydropriming and other to KNO3 priming.

AB  - Constant progress in plant breeding, the development of new hybrids and varieties, accompanied by climate change requires continuous review of growing technology. The most important part of plant production is fertilization, particularly with nitrogen. Nitrogen is required in great quantities for growing plants and it affects the yield of many crops. However this is very dynamic element and large nitrogen reserves cannot be stored in the soil. Considering the specificity of sugar beet production, where nitrogen, in addition to its impact on root yield, significantly affects the quality of the root, it is necessary to constantly review fertilization protocols. Effects of four levels of nitrogen fertilizers (40, 80, 120 and 160 kg N ha-1) on root yield and quality of commercial sugar beet hybrids were examined in the field trials during the growing season 2017. Nitrogen fertilizers were applied before the sowing. Field trial was organised by Randomised Complete Block Design (RCBD) with four replications.

AB  - Šećerna repa je najvažniji usev za proizvodnju šećera u umerenim klimatskim regionima sveta. Oplemenjivanje i selekcija su veoma složeni jer je neophodno ostvariti ravnotežu između brojnih osobina korena. Cilj ovog istraživanja je da se analiziraju korelacije između osobina korena šećerne repe gajenih u različitim uslovima sredine. Tokom dve uzastopne godine (2014. i 2015.) odnosi između osobina (prinos korena, sadržaj šećera, štetni kalijum, štetni natrijum, alfa amino azot, iskorišćenje šećera i prinos kristalnog šećera) su ispitivani u različitim tretmanima mineralne ishrane. Biljni materijal se sastojao iz osam hibrida šećerne repe dok su sredine predstavljene rastućim dozama mineralnih đubriva (N, P, K).

Breeding and selection are very complex since it is necessary to achieve the balance between the numerous sugar beet root characteristics. The aim of this study was to analyse correlations between root traits of sugar beet in different environmental conditions. The relations between traits (root yield, sugar content, potassium, sodium, amino nitrogen, recoverable sugar and white sugar yield) were examined during the two consecutive years (2014 and 2015) in different mineral nutrition treatments. Plant material consisted of eight sugar beet hybrids, while environments were represented as treatments with growing levels of mineral fertilizers (N, P, K).

AB  - Gajeni suncokret (Helianthus annuus L.) poseduje usku genetičku varijabilnost usled malog broja predaka od kojih je nastao. Povećanje genetičke varijabilnosti suncokreta postiže se ukrštanjem postojećih genotipova u cilju rekombinacije gena. Cilj ovog rada je bio da se ispita varijabilnost visine stabla i prečnika glave 93 inbred linije suncokreta stvorene na Institutu za ratarstvo i povrtarstvo u Novim Sadu, i da se formiraju grupe odabranih inbred linija na osnovu njihove sličnosti. Ogled je postavljen u blok sistemu sa tri ponavljanja, na oglednom polju Rimski Šanĉevi, Instituta za ratarstvo i povrtarstvo, a merenje visine stabla i prečnika glave je vršeno tokom faze fiziološke zrelosti za svaku liniju.
AB  - Cultivated sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) has narrow genetic variability as the result of a small number of ancestors. It is possible to increase genetic variability by crossing existing genotypes in order to achieve new gene recombination. The aim of this research was to examine variability and create groups for stem height and head diameter of 93 sunflower lines created in Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Novi Sad (IFVCNS). The trial was organized in block design with three replications, at experimental field Rimski Šanĉevi of IFVCNS. Stem height and head diameter were measured during the phase of physiological maturity for each line separately.

AB  - Climate changes are affecting the plant production, including sugar beet growing especially in the southern and central parts of the Europe. Modifying the sowing and harvesting dates are one of the most often used adaptations in sugar beet cultivation. The aim of this study was to assess the interactions between planting date and sugar beet genotypes for different harvest dates with recommendation for duration of vegetation period for specific hybrids in order to achieve the best performance and to evaluate influence of climatic factors on sugar yield. Three-way analysis of variance and AMMI (Additive main effect and multiple interactions) analysis were performed to investigate interaction between main factors. Analysis of variance revealed that genotypes (G), planting date (PD), harvest date (HD) and interaction G x PD significantly affected sugar yield in 2016. In 2017 genotypes, planting date, harvest date and G x PD interaction significantly affected sugar yield on probability level of 1%, while PD x HD interaction had significant effect on probability level of 5%. Results of AMMI analysis enabled discrimination of genotypes with the highest level of stability in certain planting dates. Hybrids with combined yield and sugar content (NZ type) should have the advantage in earlier planting dates compared to of sugar beet hybrids with higher sugar content (Z type). However, in shortened vegetation period Z type hybrids are more stable and with better sugar yield results. Results of our study suggest that delaying the harvest date decreases differences between sugar yields obtained from hybrids sown in different planting dates. Major factors in the study affecting sugar yield were growing degree days, insolation and number of days from planting to harvest.

Biplot analysis of seed priming effects on maize seedling growth traits

AB  - The objectives of this study were to determine the effects of different priming treatments and genotypes on maize germination and early seedling growth traits, as well as to examine the associations among these traits. In addition, the application of genotype by trait biplot methodology in this type of analysis was evaluated. Seed priming treatment was conducted on ten maize inbred lines by soaking seeds in water (hydropriming) or in 0.5% KNO3 solution. Seed was sown in sterile moistened sand and placed at suboptimal (15°C) and optimal temperature (25°C) for seven days. After that, seedling length and seedling weight were measured, final germination, time to 50% emergence and vigour index were calculated. The results showed that seed priming can improve seedling growth traits at both temperatures. There are differences in genotype responses to various seed priming solutions. The observed differences represent useful information for the selection of adapted maize inbred line and adjustment of priming treatment for sowing in different temperature conditions. This study showed that biplot could easily be used for assessing the effect of seed priming, or some other treatment, on seedling growth traits. Moreover, it can be used to understand the associations among the seedling growth traits.
AB  - Cilj ovog ispitivanja bilo je utvrđivanje uticaja prajming tretmana i genotipa na klijanje i rani porast ponika kukuruza, kao i sagledavanje povezanosti ovih osobina. Takođe, analizirana je mogućnost primene GT biplot metodologije u ovom tipu ispitivanja. Prajming tretman se sastojao od potapanja semena deset inbred linija kukuruza u vodu (hidroprajming) i rastvor KNO3. Seme je zatim posejano u posude sa vlažnim sterilnom peskom i stavljeno na suboptimalnu (15°C) i optimalnu temperaturu (25°C) u trajanju od 7 dana. Nakon toga je izmerena dužina i masa ponika, utvrđena je klijavost i izračunato vreme potrebno za 50% nicanja, kao i vigor indeks. Rezultati su pokazali da početni porast ponika na obe temperature može biti poboljšan prajmingom semena. Primećena je različita reakcija linija na korišćene prajming tretmane. Ove razlike predstavljaju korisnu informaciju za izbor odgovarajuće inbred linije i pogodnog prajming tretmana za setvu u različitim temperaturnim uslovima. Ispitivanje je pokazalo da se biplot analiza može koristiti kao brz vizuelni metod za proučavanje efekta prajminga ili nekog drugog tretmana semena na različite parametre klijanja, nicanja i početnog porasta ponika. Takođe, ova analiza se može koristiti i za sagledavanje veze između ispitivanih osobina.

abstract = "The objectives of this study were to determine the effects of different priming treatments and genotypes on maize germination and early seedling growth traits, as well as to examine the associations among these traits. In addition, the application of genotype by trait biplot methodology in this type of analysis was evaluated. Seed priming treatment was conducted on ten maize inbred lines by soaking seeds in water (hydropriming) or in 0.5% KNO3 solution. Seed was sown in sterile moistened sand and placed at suboptimal (15°C) and optimal temperature (25°C) for seven days. After that, seedling length and seedling weight were measured, final germination, time to 50% emergence and vigour index were calculated. The results showed that seed priming can improve seedling growth traits at both temperatures. There are differences in genotype responses to various seed priming solutions. The observed differences represent useful information for the selection of adapted maize inbred line and adjustment of priming treatment for sowing in different temperature conditions. This study showed that biplot could easily be used for assessing the effect of seed priming, or some other treatment, on seedling growth traits. Moreover, it can be used to understand the associations among the seedling growth traits., Cilj ovog ispitivanja bilo je utvrđivanje uticaja prajming tretmana i genotipa na klijanje i rani porast ponika kukuruza, kao i sagledavanje povezanosti ovih osobina. Takođe, analizirana je mogućnost primene GT biplot metodologije u ovom tipu ispitivanja. Prajming tretman se sastojao od potapanja semena deset inbred linija kukuruza u vodu (hidroprajming) i rastvor KNO3. Seme je zatim posejano u posude sa vlažnim sterilnom peskom i stavljeno na suboptimalnu (15°C) i optimalnu temperaturu (25°C) u trajanju od 7 dana. Nakon toga je izmerena dužina i masa ponika, utvrđena je klijavost i izračunato vreme potrebno za 50% nicanja, kao i vigor indeks. Rezultati su pokazali da početni porast ponika na obe temperature može biti poboljšan prajmingom semena. Primećena je različita reakcija linija na korišćene prajming tretmane. Ove razlike predstavljaju korisnu informaciju za izbor odgovarajuće inbred linije i pogodnog prajming tretmana za setvu u različitim temperaturnim uslovima. Ispitivanje je pokazalo da se biplot analiza može koristiti kao brz vizuelni metod za proučavanje efekta prajminga ili nekog drugog tretmana semena na različite parametre klijanja, nicanja i početnog porasta ponika. Takođe, ova analiza se može koristiti i za sagledavanje veze između ispitivanih osobina.",

The objective of this study was to utilize diallel method in order to estimate mode of inheritance, heterosis effect, combining abilities and components of genetic variance for important properties in sunflower and to identify those genotypes that can make progress in sunflower breeding. Present research had been carried out during 2012 and 2013 growing seasons. Evaluation included 6 sunflower genotypes and their 15 combinations which were crossed according to incomplete diallel. For seed yield/plant dominance of better parent (d+) was expressed as a mode of inheritance, while regarding thousand seed weight the most common modes of inheritance were dominance (d+) and partial dominance of better parent (pd+). The most common mode of inheritance regarding oil content was superdominance (sd+). Empirical estimates of combining abilities of genotypes involved in breeding process is main startegy in evaluation of breeding value. Regarding seed yield/plant significant and positive heterosis effect (28.9%) was calculated in combination Harkovski x Rodnik (P3xP5), while the highest heterosis effect for oil content (12.8%) was determined in combination Harkovski x Amaian (P3xP6). Combining ability analysis indicated that both genetic components, additive and non-additive, were important in expression of investigated traits. Components of genetic variance indicated prevalence of dominant component (H) compared to additive (D) and higher concentration of dominant genes (u) compared to recessive (v), in all investigated traits.

The effect of genotype x environment interaction on root yield and quality of sugar beet

AB  - The thesis represents a study about the effect of genotype, environment and their interaction on the agronomic and technological root characteristics of different sugar beet hybrids grown in the Republic of Serbia. Plant material consisted of two hybrids developed at Institute of field and vegetable crops, Novi Sad and six hybrids developed by different foreign seed companies. The environmental factor was presented through different fertilization treatments of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Field experiment took place on the location of Rimski Šančevi during two consecutive years and was arranged in the split plot design with three replications. Root samples from middle rows od each plot were taken and analyzed for the following traits: root yield, sugar content, levels of harmful potassium, harmful sodium and alpha amino nitrogen, recoverable sugar and white sugar yield. Analysis of variance determined that genotype, environment and their interaction had significant effect on all examined traits. During the first year of experiment, environmental factor had the greatest impact on the variability of majority of characteristics while in second year the genotype had the strongest effect. Results of the AMMI analysis suggest that the hybrids G3 and G4 had the highest yields, but their stability varied during the growing season. Hybrid G5 had the highest average sugar content in all environments. Environments with high levels of phosphorus and potassium and with reduced amounts of nitrogen (or no nitrogen) induced the highest levels of sugar content in all tested hybrids. The same environments showed the best results for recoverable sugar and the highest level of stability in both years of testing. According to the results of correlation coefficients and the biplot graphics, relationships between studied properties varied in different growing seasons. The results sugest that the use of multivariate statistical methods such as AMMI allows additional analysis of genotype x environment interaction, which is important for further improvement of selection and proper recommendations for fertilization. It will also improve recommentation of sugar beet hybrids with high white sugar yield and good stability, in order to increase the production of this crop in the agroecological conditions of the Pannonian Plain.
AB  - Ova disertacija predstavlja studiju o uticaju genotipa, sredine i njihove uzajamne interakcije na agronomske i tehnološke osobine korena različitih hibrida šećerne repe gajenih u Republici Srbiji. Biljni materijal se sastojao od dva domaća hibrida šećerne repe, stvorena u Institutu za ratarstvo i povrtarstvo u Novom Sadu i šest hibrida iz različitih stranih semenskih kuća. Uticaj sredine predstavljen je kroz različite tretmane đubrenja sa azotom, fosforom i kalijumom. Poljski deo ogleda se odvijao na lokalitetu Rimski Šančevi tokom dve uzastone godine i postavljen je po planu podeljenih parcelica u tri ponavljanja. Uzorci korena su uzimani iz srednjih redova svih parcelica i potom analizirani na sledeće osobine: prinos korena, sadržaj šećera, sadržaj štetnog kalijuma, sadržaj štetnog natrijuma, sadržaj alfa amino azota, iskorišćenje šećera i prinos kristalnog šećera. Na osnovu rezultata Analize varijanse utvrđen je značajan uticaj genotipa, sredina i interakcije dva navedena faktora na sve ispitivane osobine. Na varijabilnost većine analiziranih osobina u prvoj godini ispitivanja najveći uticaj je imala sredina odnosno tretmani mineralne ishrane dok je u drugoj godini uticaj genotipa bio veći. Rezultati AMMI analize sugerišu da su genotipovi G3 i G4 bili najprinosniji, ali se njihova stabilnost razlikovala tokom sezona gajenja. Genotip G5 je imao najveći sadržaj šećera u svim sredinama. Sredine sa većim dozama fosfora i kalijuma i redukovanim količinama azota (ili bez azota) su imale najveći sadržaj šećera kod svih testiranih hibrida. Iste sredine su pokazale najbolje rezultate za iskorišćenje šećera i najveću stabilnost u obe godine ispitivanja. Prema rezultatima korelacionih koeficijenata i na osnovu biplot grafika utvrđeno je da se veza između proučavanih osobina menjala tokom različitih sezona gajenja. Rezultati su ukazali da primena multivarijacionih metoda poput AMMI omogućava dodatnu analizu interakcije genotipa i sredine što je bitno za dalje unapređenje selekcije i davanje pravilnih preporuka za đubrenje. Takođe poboljšaće se i preporuke za hibride šećerne repe koje se odlikuju visokim prinosom kristalnog šećera i dobrom stabilnošću tokom različitih sezonama gajenja, u cilju unapređenja proizvodnje ovog useva u agroekološkim uslovima Panonske nizije.

Prinos i kvalitet korena šećerne repe u zavisnosti od roka setve

AB  - Poslednjih nekoliko godina na teritoriji Srbije vremenske prilike poprimaju ekstremna obeležja, od izrazitih suša u 2012. i 2015. do enormnih količina padavina i poplava u 2014. godini. U takvim uslovima gubici u proizvodnji šećerne repe su sve veći, a kao glavni razlog ističu se bolesti truleži korena u sušnim i pegavost lista (Cercospora beticola) u kišnim godinama. Pored promene klimatskih uslova treba imati u vidu i da su se patogeni brzo adaptirali i postali otporni na postojeću tehnologiju hemijske zaštite šećerne repe. Dugogodišnja primena preparata sa istim ili sličnim aktivnim materijama i specifičnim mehanizmom delovanja u našoj zemlji dovela je do razvoja rezistentnosti patogena na različite grupe fungicida. Da bi smanjili gubitke i obezbedili napredak u proizvodnji šećerne repe, neophodne su promene u tehnologiji gajenja ove kulture i prilagođavanje novonastalim klimatskim i biotičkim promenama.

AB  - Sugar beet is the most important plant for sugar production in Europe and other temperate
climate regions of the world. Broad genetic diversity is crucial for successful breeding program. The main objective of this study was to evaluate 10 sugar beet hybrids based on their morphological and root quality traits and to determine which genotypes are preferable source for new gene collection and selection program. The trial was performed during the growing season of 2016 on the fields of the Institute of field and vegetable crops, at location Rimski Šančevi. Among the explored genotypes, two were from domestic breeding centers while eight belonged to foreign seed institutions. Standardized mean values of all characteristics were used for analysis. The evaluation included Principal Component Analysis (PCA) for the following traits: root weight (g), root length (cm), root diameter (cm), root volume (cm3), root/head ratio (%) specific root weight (g/cm3) and sugar content (%). According to results significant level of diversity was found for all examined traits. Four principal components with their values of 50,2%; 24,4%; 11,9% and 10,4% determined total variance by the amount of 97,96%. Investigated genotypes could be divided into four distinct groups.

AB  - Multi-environment trials are performed every year with the aim of evaluating sugar beet varieties in different environmental conditions of Serbia. The objective of this research was to interpret the effects of genotype, environment and genotype x environment interaction on root yield, sugar content and white sugar yield. GGE biplot method was used to estimate stability of seven sugar beet hybrids developed at the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops, Novi Sad, Serbia. Mixed model of analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used for the analysis of trial results. Factor genotype effect was assumed fixed while effects of year and environment were assumed random. ANOVA showed that the environment had the greatest effect on root and white sugar yield, while year had the strongest effect on sugar content. Variations of all traits were under significant impact of genotype, while the GEI influence was not a significant. Results of GGE biplot analysis suggested that hybrid Sara was the most stable variety for root yield, while Lara had the greatest stability for sugar content and white sugar yield among the tested genotypes. Also, optimal locations were identified for each genotype, which can be useful when recommending sugar beet varieties for certain growing areas of this field crop.
AB  - Multilokacijski ogledi izvode se svake godine sa ciljem procene hibrida šećerne repe u različitim agroekološkim uslovima Srbije. Cilj ovog istraživanja je bio da se utvrdi uticaj genotipa, spoljašnje sredine, kao i interakcije genotipa i spoljašnje sredine na prinos korena, sadržaj šećera i prinos kristalnog šećera. GGE biplot metod je korišćen za procenu stabilnosti sedam hibrida šećerne repe stvorenih u Institutu za ratarstvo i povrtarstvo. Mešoviti model analize varijanse (ANOVA) je korišćen za analizu rezultata ogleda. U pretpostavci analize varijanse efekat genotipa je bio fiksan, dok su efekti godine i sredine bili slučajne promenljive. ANOVA je pokazala da je najveći efekat na prinos korena i prinos kristalnog šećerna imala spoljašnja sredina, dok je godina imala najveći uticaj na sadržaj šećera. Genotip je imao značajan uticaj na varijabilnost svih ispitivanih osobina, dok uticaj interakcije genotip/sredina nije bio značajan. Rezultati analize GGE biplota ukazuju da je Sara bila najstabilniji hibrid za prinos korena, dok su sadržaj šećera i prinos kristalnog šećera bili najstabilniji kod hibrida Lara. Identifikovane su optimalne lokacije za svaki genotip, što može biti od koristi pri davanju preporuka za gajenje hibrida šećerne repe u određenim regionima proizvodnje ovog useva.

Sampling Error in Relation to Cyst Nematode Population Density Estimation in Small Field Plots

AB  - Cyst nematodes are serious plant-parasitic pests which could cause severe yield losses and extensive damage. Since there is still very little information about error of population density estimation in small field plots, this study contributes to the broad issue of population density assessment. It was shown that there was no significant difference between cyst counts of five or seven bulk samples taken per each 1-m(2) plot, if average cyst count per examined plot exceeds 75 cysts per 100 g of soil. Goodness of fit of data to probability distribution tested with chi(2) test confirmed a negative binomial distribution of cyst counts for 21 out of 23 plots. The recommended measure of sampling precision of 17% expressed through coefficient of variation (cv) was achieved if the plots of 1 m(2) contaminated with more than 90 cysts per 100 g of soil were sampled with 10-core bulk samples taken in five repetitions. If plots were contaminated with less than 75 cysts per 100 g of soil, 10-core bulk samples taken in seven repetitions gave cv higher than 23%. This study indicates that more attention should be paid on estimation of sampling error in experimental field plots to ensure more reliable estimation of population density of cyst nematodes.

Assessment of sugar beet root yield by ammi analysis

AB  - Sugar beet cultivars have different responses in various environments, such as different locations, years, mineral nutrition treatments or the combination of these factors, due to genotype x environment interaction. Additive main effect and multiplicative interaction (AMMI) is one of the most commonly used multivariate methods for analysis and visualization of genotype x environment interaction data. The main goals of the present study were to (i) investigate the application of AMMI method in the analysis of genotype x fertilizer interaction in sugar beet, (ii) to assess genotype x fertilizer interaction, and (iii) to identify sugar beet cultivars with the most stable response and high yield performance across different mineral nutrition treatments. The trial with eight sugar beet cultivars was conducted in two successive growing seasons at Rimski sancevi, Serbia. The different levels of nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium fertilizers (0, 50, 100 and 150 kg ha(-1)) and their combinations represented specific environments for testing genotype x fertilizer interaction. Results from the analysis of variance indicated that the fertilizer treatment, cultivars, and their interaction significantly affected root yield variation in both seasons. Results from our study suggest that AMMI model with two and three first IPCA axes were recommended in 2014 and 2015, respectively. According to AMMI 1 and AMMI 2 biplot, E14 and E15 were high yielding and among the most stable treatments in both years. Among high yielding genotypes in 2014, G4 and G8 stand out as the most stable, while in the following year G3 had the lowest interaction score. AMMI analysis enabled identification of specific associations between cultivars and different mineral nutrition treatments, which was important for adjustment of fertilizer management for each cultivar in order to achieve high root yield with decreased and more rational fertilizer doses.

AB  - Klimatske promene i uvođenje novog sortimenta u proizvodnju zahtevaju usaglašavanje u količini primenjenih mineralnih hraniva. U radu je ispitivan uticaj tri rastuće doze azotnog đubriva na prinos i kvalitet korena šećerne repe. U 2015. godini usled suše rast doza azotnih đubriva uslovio je smanjivanje prinosa korena i digestije u korenu šećerne repe. Kod tretmana sa 100 kgN/ha došlo je do smanjenja prinosa polarizacionog šećera, a pri dozi od 150 kg/ha došlo je do smanjenja prinosa korena. Sadržaj šećera je proporcionalno opadao sa porastom doze azotnog đubriva.

AB  - The effect on sugar beet yield parameters and microbiological soil sta­tus was studied using two techniques of sugar beet inoculation with strains of Azotobacter chroococcum. Cultivar 'Drena' was used in the study, and field trial was set under the conditions of organic farming system in Bački Petrovac. A mixture of three strains of Azotobacter chroococcum was used as microbial fertilizer. Inoculation was performed by: (A) incorporation of strains into soil before sowing; and (B) repeated incorporation of strains into soil two weeks after sowing. PGP characterization of the strains confirmed the ability of producing indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) from 12.63 μg ml-1 to 14.95 μg ml-1, nitrogen fixation, and P-solubilization. Positive effects on the number of azotobacter and free nitrogen fixers in rhizosphere were obtained by inoculation, as well as positive effects on the tested sugar beet yield parameters. The largest increase in root yield, yield of crystal sugar, and yield of polarised sugar compared with the control was obtained by repeated soil inoculation, ranging from 22 to 23%.
AB  - Ispitan je efekat dva načina inokulacije šećerne repe sa sojevima Azotobacter chroococcum na parametre prinosa šećerne repe i mikrobiološki status zemljišta. U ispitivanjima je korišćena sorta Drena, a eksperiment je postavljen u sistemu organske proizvodnje u Bačkom Petrovcu. Kao mikrobiološko đubrivo korišćena je smeša tri soja Azotobacter chroococcum. Inokulacija je izvršena na dva načina: (A) inkorporacija sojeva u zemljište pre setve, (B) ponovljena inkorporacija sojeva u zemljište dve nedelje nakon setve. PGP karakterizacijom korišćenih sojeva utvrđena je sposobnost produkcije indol-3-sirćetne kiseline (IAA) od 12.63 μg ml-1do 14.95 μg ml-1, azotofiksacije i fosfosolubilizacije. Inokulacijom je dobijen pozitivan efekat na broj azotobaktera i slobodnih azotofiksatora u rizosferi, kao i na ispitivane parametre prinosa šećerne repe. Najveće povećanje prinosa korena, prinosa kristalnog i polarizacionog šećera dobijeno je na varijanti ponovljene inokulacije zemljišta i kretalo se od 22 do 23% u odnosu na kontrolnu varijantu.
