Rđe pšenice - prošlost, sadašnjost i budućnost

AB  - Tokom istorije rđe su periodično bile pretnja proizvodnji ratarskih kultura. Ekonomski najznačajnije su rđe koje se javljaju na pšenici: lisna, žuta i stabljična rđa. Odnos pšenica-rđe tokom XX veka je pretrpeo značajne promene, počevši od epidemija stabljične rđe početkom ovog veka, zatim uspostavljanja sistema kontrole datih patogena kroz značajne istraživačke programe, pa do ponovne pojave epidemije stabljične, ali i žute rđe na kraju XX veka. Na našim prostorima značajna epidemija lisne rđe utvrđena je 1994. godine, dok su 2014. godine veliki gubici u prinosu pšenice uzrokovani jačom pojavom žute rđe. Višegodišnja ispitivanja na oglednim poljima na Rimskim Šančevima ukazala su na statistički značajan uticaj sredine/godine i sorte na visinu indeksa oboljenja rđa pšenice.
AB  - Historically, rusts have periodically been a threat to cereal production. The most economically important rusts occur on wheat, such as: leaf rust, yellow or stripe rust and stem rust. During the twentieth century the wheat-rust interaction has suffered significant changes, starting with the epidemics of stem rust at the beginning of this century, then establishing a system of control of given pathogens through major research programs, to the recurrence of epidemics of stem, as well as yellow rust at the end of the twentieth century. In our country a significant epidemic of leaf rust was reported in 1994, while in 2014 great yield losses in wheat were caused due to the large outbreak of yellow rust. Multi-year trials that were conducted on the experimental fields of Rimski Šančevi indicated significant effect of environment/year, and the variety on disease index of wheat rusts.

AB  - Novosadske sorte strnih žita (pšenica, ječam, triticale, durum pšenica, ovas i raž) su namenjene za gajenje u različitim klimatskim i zemljišnim uslovima srednje, južne i jugoistočne Evrope, kao i u uslovima zapadne Azije. Stoga se u oplemenjivanju strnih žita pošlo od činjenice da samo sorte sa kompleksom pozitivnih osobina mogu imati dobru biološku plastičnost i sposobnost prilagođavanja ovako različitim klimatsko-zemljišnim uslovima. Rekombinovanjem i implementiranjem poželjnih gena, novosadske sorte poseduju visok nivo tolerantnosti na abiotičke (suša, visoke i niske temperature, itd.) i biotičke (bolesti i štetočine) stresne faktore.

AB  - Sorta kao autonomni biološki i agronomski entitet, jedan je od presudnih faktora na kvantitativnom i kvalitativnom nivou proizvodnje. Drugim rečima, prinos i kvalitet zrna pšenice koje dobijamo u proizvodnji, u velikoj meri zavise od toga koje smo sorte sejali. Savremene sorte polupatuljaste stabljike sa velikim potencijalom za prinos, u odnosu na sorte sa visokom stabljikom, pokazuju i veće variranje između maksimalnih i minimalnih prinosa, kao i između godina. Te sorte pokazuju i veoma pozitivnu reakciju na dobru agrotehniku. U poslednje vreme pored sorte, kao ključnog faktora daljeg povećanja prinosa i kvaliteta, tehnologija proizvodnje dobija sve više na značaju. Veliki trud koji je uložen u stvaranje sorti visokog genetskog potencijala, može biti uzaludan ukoliko se ne obezbede uslovi za njegovu potpunu realizaciju.

Wheat rusts: The past, present and future

AB  - Historically, rusts have periodically been a threat to cereal production. The most economically important rusts occur on wheat, such as: leaf rust, yellow or stripe rust and stem rust. During the twentieth century the wheat-rust interaction has suffered significant changes, starting with the epidemics of stem rust at the beginning of this century, then establishing a system of control of given pathogens through major research programs, to the recurrence of epidemics of stem, as well as yellow rust at the end of the twentieth century. In our country a significant epidemic of leaf rust was reported in 1994, while in 2014 great yield losses in wheat were caused due to the large outbreak of yellow rust. Multi-year trials that were conducted on the experimental fields of Rimski Šancevi indicated significant effect of environment/year, and the variety on disease index of wheat rusts. Climatic elements which have significantly influenced the development of leaf rust in the period 1998-2013 were as follows: temperature and relative humidity in April, and temperature in May. Climatic conditions which were favorable to yellow rust in 2014, related primarily to mean temperature in January and February, which exceeded the ten-year averages, as well as the heavy rainfall in March and April, which were also higher than average. Furthermore, in these studies we found statistically significant effect of the leaf and yellow rust on wheat yield loss. Given the epidemics of stem rust which in 2016 affected thousands of hectares in the Italian island of Sicily, as well as the data on the occurrence of new aggressive races of yellow rust on the territory of Europe, regular monitoring of climate change and approach that includes integrated crop protection measures represents a necessity in order to keep pace with these pathogens.

S obzirom na epidemiju stabljične rde koja je prošle, 2016. godine, zahvatila hiljade hektara na području Sicilije, kao i na podatke o pojavi novih, agresivnijih rasa žute rde na području Evrope, redovno praćenje klimatskih promena i pristup koji podrazumeva integralne mere zaštite useva predstavlja neophodnost kako bi se držao korak sa ovim patogenima.

S obzirom na epidemiju stabljične rde koja je prošle, 2016. godine, zahvatila hiljade hektara na području Sicilije, kao i na podatke o pojavi novih, agresivnijih rasa žute rde na području Evrope, redovno praćenje klimatskih promena i pristup koji podrazumeva integralne mere zaštite useva predstavlja neophodnost kako bi se držao korak sa ovim patogenima.",

AB  - Seedlings of ten Lr near-isogenic lines (NIL) and four wheat lines with enhanced resistance to Puccinia triticina were treated with overdosed neonicotinoid insecticides. The enzyme of Lr 20 gene accelerated thiacloprid degradation while Lr 29 gene accelerated thiamethoxam degradation according to NILs upper plant parts lengths reduction by 6% or 10% six days after the last of three daily treatments. Lr 27 and Lr 33 effects were intermediate on thiamethoxam but only in the driest conditions. Among other NILs the growth was increased 1-5% by N faster release of S or Cl. The accumulation of Lr 20 and Lr 9 facilitated treatment in the late grain filling period when the amount of their circled residues in seed was permissible. In semiarid regions, when thiamethoxam was applied before June, respecting the adequate leaf area duration of prevalent varieties, interaction with Lr 29 could be also practical through simultaneous release of fungi reducing elements.

Yellow rust threatens to halve the wheat yield

AB  - In the 2013/14 production year, there was a strong appearance of rust on wheat at several locations in Vojvodina and Serbia. According to symptoms, colors, shapes and sizes of urediospores and teliospores the causal agent of yellow rust Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici dominated. The infection intensities ranged from 40 to 60% on some field sites, and at the genetic collection field trials intensities were up to 90%. This pathogen has not been a major issue in the Serbia wheat production, and there is no study of the virulence of its population. There has been report of the emergence of new races of yellow rust in England, France, Spain, Germany, Sweden and Denmark. This pathogen rapidly spreads through the wind and passengers from all over the world and a new race for a very short period of time can pass from one continent to the other. All that facts are reasons for a serious suspicion that there is the appearance of the new race(s) of yellow rust on wheat in Serbia.
AB  - U proizvodnoj 2013/14. godini, na više lokaliteta u Vojvodini i Srbiji, došlo je do jače pojave rđa na pšenici. Na osnovu simptomatoloških karakteristika, boje, oblika i veličine uredo i teleutospora, dominira Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici - prouzrokovač žute rđe. Na pojedinim parcelama u proizvodnji intenzitet zaraze kreće se od 40 do 60%, a u genetskoj kolekciji na Rimskim Šančevima i do 90%. Ovaj patogen do sada nije predstavljao veći problem u proizvodnji pšenice u Srbiji, pa se nije ni radilo na proučavanju virulentnosti njegove populacije. U Engleskoj, Francuskoj, Španiji, Nemačkoj, Švedskoj i Danskoj je došlo do pojave novih rasa žute rđe. Ovaj patogen veoma brzo se širi putem vetra i putnika i nova rasa za veoma kratko vreme može sa jednog kontinenta preći na drugi kraj sveta. Iz tih razloga postoje opravdane sumnje da je u Srbiji došlo do pojave nekih od već opisanih ili do pojave nove ili novih rasa žute rđe na pšenici.

Tolerance of wheat varieties seedlings by glyphosate accelerated degradation

AB  - Lengths of seedlings aboveground parts of nine wheat varieties grown in greenhouse were reduced by 4-20%. They were tested during April at around 20oC after twice daily treatments with glyphosate based herbicide (0.5 ml in 1l water solution, 0.5 dl on 0.5 m2). When results of permanent artificially and daily lighted trials were compared, four groups of varieties were recognized same as was when near isogenic lines containing different leaf rust resistance genes (Lr NILs) were focused in winter. Growth of variety Pobeda decreased more when seedlings were not permanent lighted which confirmed the common herbicide effect. Tolerance of other varieties was again explained by enzymatic degradation of glyphosate and chlorophyll inhibition by consequential phosphorus acids. Varieties Simonida, Tavita and Rapsodia were similar by reaction to glyphosate as Lr 1 and Lr 21 NILs. NS 40S contained Lr 3a with increased hydrolytic stability compared to Lr 24 but able to cleave external single phosphorus for the difference of Lr 19 or Lr 29. Their final effect was similar to previous stated of Lr 15 NIL during the winter. Varieties Gora and Metka had gene Lr 19, Enigma Lr 29 while Ilina Lr 24. Focusing herbicide residua transfer in seed probability, accounting optimal time for recovering ability of chlorophyll and temporary higher temperatures necessary for Lr genes even parasite free activity the varieties Gora, Metka and Enigma appeared to be possible solution for glyphosate apply near wheat heading in semiarid regions.
AB  - Dužine nadzemnih delova sejanaca devet sorti pšenice gajenih u staklari bile su redukovane 4-20%. Testirane su pri temperaturama oko 20oC tokom proleća posle dva dnevno uzastopna tretmana herbicidom na bazi glifosata (0,5 ml u 1l vodenog rastvora, 0,5 dl na 0,5 m2). Na osnovu razlika između stalno veštački i dnevno osvetljenog ponavljanja prepoznate su četiri grupe sorti, što je potvrdilo rezultate dobijene kod izogenih linije različitih gena otpornosti prema prouzrokovaču lisne rđe (NIL) testiranih tokom zime. Rast sorte Pobeda bio je usporeniji kada nije bila permanentno osvetljena te je prepoznat uobičajen efekat herbicida. Tolerantnost drugih sorti je bila povezana sa ubrzanom degradacijom glifosata te uticajem posledične fosforne kiseline na inhibiciju hlorofila. Sorte Rapsodija, Simonida i Tavita su po reakciji prema herbicidu bile slične Lr 1 i Lr 21 liniji. Ubrzano žućenje lista NS 40S bilo je zavisno od gena Lr 3a neuticajnog na poslednje fosforne residue nakon otpuštanja kiseonika, dok je sličan efekat hidrolitički najstabilnijeg Lr 15 u NIL isključen na osnovu analiza uticaja na degradaciju glutena. Na osnovu pomenutih kriterijuma, sorte Gora i Metka su sadržale Lr 19, Enigma Lr 29 a Ilina Lr 24. Poštujući pre svega više vremena za eliminaciju originalnih rezidua herbicida blizu klasanja, česte temperature uslove povoljne za aktivnost Lr gena, posledice na rast te brži oporavak hlorofila, za tretman u to doba u semiaridnim regionima, sorte s Lr genima kao Gora, Metka i Enigma su prepoznate kao moguće praktično rešenje. Tretman sorte Ilina je rizičan usled očekivanog izostanka efekta a ostalih usled rezidua.

Functions of LR genes beside reduction of Puccinia triticina

AB  - Wheat leaf rust race specific resistance controlling genes (Lr) caused 0.01-0.03 decrease of SAGR = divided first two internodes with stem length. In addition, nitrogen transport in upper parts by those genes was 3-19% higher in comparison to near isogenic lines with nonspecific Lr 22a and Lr 22b genes. RAR (divided root nitrogen content with sum of up ground and root ones) values of Lr16, Lr29 and Lr37 between Lr1, Lr15 or Lr19 and nonspecific genes were explained by hydrolytic stability of endo-proteases responsible for cleaving of glutens disulphide bridges. According to RAR, Lr 34 seemed to be specific Lr gene but increased SAGR as was by nonspecific Lr genes focused SUTs as adequate for its conformity. Two different drought and heat stress respond systems were linked to Lr genes; one based on gluten degradation consequential through photosynthesis decrease and another on accelerated transfer of starch products and water in stem.
AB  - Geni za specifičnu otpornost prema prouzrokovaču lisne rđe pšenice (Lr) smanjivali su rast sledećih delova stabla (SAGR) za 0,01-0,03 u poređenju sa osnovnom sortom Tačer ili Lr 22b linijom. RAR, odnosno podeljen sadržaj azota u korenu sa zbirom navedene vrednosti i one u nadzemnom delu u stadijumu sejanaca, bio je umanjen u odnosu na poslednje pomenute genotipove. Ubrzanje transporta proteina u nadzemne delove preko gena za specifičnu otpornost je bilo 3-19%. Enzimi za specifičnu otpornost su svrstani u glutenaze, odnosno endoproteaze, odgovorne za oslobađanje sumpora iz disulfidnih mostova pri prolasku proteina kroz klicu. Razlike po RAR-u između Lr 1, Lr 15, Lr 19 sa istim vrednostima i nešto različitih Lr 16, Lr 29 i Lr 37 od Lr 22b i Lr 38 linija nosilaca nespecifičnih Lr gena bilo je objašnjeno različitom hidrolitičkom stabilnošću. Lr 34 je po RAR-u bio sličan grupi specifičnih gena, ali povišen SAGR u odnosu na Tačer i produžen LP ukazivali su na enzimatsku familiju transportera šećera pre nego ABC transportere. Dva različita sistema za tolerantnost prema suši odnosno stresu usled visokih temperatura vazduha povezana su sa genima za otpornost prema Puccinia triticina. Rasno specifični geni su umanjivali fotosintezu preko produkata degradacije glutena u listu, ujedno povišujući LGR i snižavajući SAGR, dok su nespecifični delovali obrnuto i stoga povezani sa degradacijom skroba. Two different drought and heat stress respond systems were linked to Lr genes; one based on gluten degradation consequential through photosynthesis decrease and another on accelerated transfer of starch products and water in stem., Geni za specifičnu otpornost prema prouzrokovaču lisne rđe pšenice (Lr) smanjivali su rast sledećih delova stabla (SAGR) za 0,01-0,03 u poređenju sa osnovnom sortom Tačer ili Lr 22b linijom. RAR, odnosno podeljen sadržaj azota u korenu sa zbirom navedene vrednosti i one u nadzemnom delu u stadijumu sejanaca, bio je umanjen u odnosu na poslednje pomenute genotipove. Ubrzanje transporta proteina u nadzemne delove preko gena za specifičnu otpornost je bilo 3-19%. Enzimi za specifičnu otpornost su svrstani u glutenaze, odnosno endoproteaze, odgovorne za oslobađanje sumpora iz disulfidnih mostova pri prolasku proteina kroz klicu. Razlike po RAR-u između Lr 1, Lr 15, Lr 19 sa istim vrednostima i nešto različitih Lr 16, Lr 29 i Lr 37 od Lr 22b i Lr 38 linija nosilaca nespecifičnih Lr gena bilo je objašnjeno različitom hidrolitičkom stabilnošću. Lr 34 je po RAR-u bio sličan grupi specifičnih gena, ali povišen SAGR u odnosu na Tačer i produžen LP ukazivali su na enzimatsku familiju transportera šećera pre nego ABC transportere. Dva različita sistema za tolerantnost prema suši odnosno stresu usled visokih temperatura vazduha povezana su sa genima za otpornost prema Puccinia triticina. Rasno specifični geni su umanjivali fotosintezu preko produkata degradacije glutena u listu, ujedno povišujući LGR i snižavajući SAGR, dok su nespecifični delovali obrnuto i stoga povezani sa degradacijom skroba. Kod linija sa poslednje pomenutim genima primećeno je ranije gubljenje fotosintetičke aktivnosti postojećih organa i brži rast sledećih na uštrb prethodno formiranih.",

Integrated protection from prevalent wheat parasites in semiarid region

AB  - This paper is aimed at presenting contemporary knowledge in the field of integral wheat protection against parasites, i.e. the use of cultural measures and genetic analyses directed at adequate use of breeding results, monitoring and forecasting of prevalent parasite growth and development with the aim of rational fungicide application. In addition, the paper suggests the proper use of biological measures through artificial infection with Pyrenophora tritici repentis (Ptr) in years not favourable for facultative parasite development. Growing of the varieties not lower than 85 cm with optimal stem growth ratio in regions with 550-650 mm precipitation, deep and complete soil cultivation plus nutrition before sowing in late October reduced the risk of facultative parasite appearance on lower and middle leaves by over 15%, which was considered useful because of the antagonism to obligate parasites. Severity of Puccinia triticina on last two leaves when facultative parasites were absent was increased at 60-70% as maximal level according to suggested SAGR. Nevertheless, we suggest growing of varieties with prolonged latency period resistant to Puccinia triticina. The aim is to avoid overaccumulation of resistance genes consequential through the decrease of wheat grain yielding potential. Genes facilitating toxin from Ptr spreading have to be excluded because of necessary antagonistic effect from the middle leaves. This implies gene for the obligate parasite specific resistance diversity of varieties in order to reduce the probability of simultaneous overcoming of resistance and avoid insurmountable changes in seed production. The final result of the proposed system should be the last two leaves with mostly minimal parasite appearance and the possibility of economical and efficient single curative treatment application once in ten years when facultative parasites are absent in spring or after the resistance of variety is overcome in standard conditions. The practical aim was also dependent on leaf rust development and green leaf area dissapearence forecasting models as well as balance between the size of the farm and equipment due to short deadlines.
AB  - Savremena saznanja iz oblasti integralne zaštite pšenice u semiaridnim regionima, odnosno primena agrotehničkih mera i genetičkih analiza u smeru adekvatnog korišćenja rezultata oplemenjivanja te praćenja i prognoze rasta i razvoja prevalentnih parazita radi racionalne upotrebe fungicida uz predlog biološke mere, tj. veštačke infekcije s Pyrenophora tritici repentis (Ptr) u godinama nepovoljnim za razvoj fakultativnih parazita su prikazana u radu. Gajenjem sorti ne nižih od 85 cm optimalnog rasta delova stabla, primenom pune agrotehnike, ishrane i kasnijom setvom smanjena je opasnost od infekcija fakultativnih parazita na donjem i srednjem lišću preko 15% koja je smatrana korisnom usled antagonizma s obligatnim parazitima a povećan je maksimalni mogući intenzitet obligatnih parazita na 60-70% zahvaćenosti gornjih listova. Sugerisano je gajenje sorti s produženim latentnim periodom umesto kompletno otpornih prema prouzrokovaču lisne rđe radi izbegavanja štetnih efekata preakumuliranih gena za specifičnu otpornost na prinos zrna. Sorte efikasne prema širenju toksina Ptr je potrebno isključiti usled obezbeđenosti dovoljnog antagonističkog efekta sa srednjeg lišća. Predloženo podrazumeva različitost gena za navedenu specifičnu otpornost sorti kako bi bila smanjena verovatnoća istovremenog prevazilaženja otpornosti te izbegnute nesavladive promene u semenarstvu. Krajnji rezultat predloženog sistema su dva gornja lista bez parazita i mogućnost ekonomične i efikasne jednokratne kurativne zaštite jednom u deset godina kada fakultativni paraziti izostanu ili nakon prevaziđene otpornosti sorte u standardnim uslovima. Praktična primena predloženih rešenja takođe je zavisna od prognoznih modela razvoja lisne rđe i nestanka zelene lisne površine i usklađenosti veličine i opremljenosti poljoprivrednih gazdinstava usled kratkih rokova.

AB  - U proizvodnoj 2004/05. godini na više lokaliteta: Rimski Šančevi, Kać, Kikinda, Zrenjanin, Pančevo, Kovin, Smederevo, Smederevska Palanka, zabeleženo je propadanje biljaka u različitim fenofazama razvoja useva pšenice. Na prikupljenim uzorcima vršena je identifikacija patogena. Rezultati analize pokazali su da su glavni uzroci truleži korena i prizemnog dela stabla pšenice bile gljive iz roda Fusarium. Od 1308 analiziranih biljaka sorte Zlataka, kod 722 (55,2%) su prouzrokovač i truleži korena bile gljive iz roda Fusarium, kod 14 (1,1%) biljaka uzrok propadanja korena bila je gljiva Gaeumannomyces graminis, svega 9 (0,7%) analiziranih biljaka bilo je sa simptomima proouzrokovača sočivaste pegavosti Pseudocercosporella herpotrichoides.

At the Rimski Šančevi location, of the 1,308 plants of the wheat cultivar Zlatko that were subjected to analysis, 722 (55.2%) had root rot caused by fungi of the genus Fusarium, 14 (1.1%) had roots deteriorated by the fungus Gaeumannomyces graminis, while only 9 (0.7%) had symptoms typical of the causal agent of foot rot, Pseudocercosporella herpotrichoides.

AB  - Istraživanje je izvedeno s ciljem da se ispita otpornost i tolerantnost osam trenutno aktuelnih novosadskih sorti prema prouzrokovačima bolesti u poljskim uslovima. Setva je obavljena 26.10. 2004. godine simultano s kontrolom (K) u parcelice površine 7 m 2, iste udaljene 2m. Nakon jednog prihranjivanja s 50 kg azota (AN), radi karence u proizvodnji nedozvoljeno tretiranje K je obavljeno 02.06.2005. fungicidom Folicur EC 250 u količini 5 cm3 na 100 m 2 . • lntenziteti zaraza (% od zelene lisne mase) očitavani su 2., 12. i 27 juna, a žetva je obavljena 7. jula. Tokom 2005. godine vremenski uslovi na lokalitetu Rimski šančevi kraj Novog Sada su bili povoljni za početne infekcije prouzrokovača pepelnice, septorioza te fuzariozne palezi klasa.

AB  - Fourteen winter wheat varieties obtained from the Czech Republic for testing disease resistance were sown in dishes and grown in the field next to the LRTCW line and variety Rodna of Serbia and Montenegro, 2003. All genotypes were found by the type of reaction to be susceptible to Puccinia triticina at the seedling stage in the greenhouse. In four varieties with comparatively short leaves, Pyrenophora tritici-repentis was found to appear at a frequency of 20% on the leaves below the last two. The following year untreated seeds of all varieties were sown in the field and no Pyrenophora tritici-repentis was found. The average difference in the intensity of Puccinia triticina infection on the last two leaves between the two years was 51% for the varieties with P. tritici-repentis, and 23% for the other group. Even small amounts of toxins decreased the development of the obligate parasite. The hypothesis of a seed-borne character of Pyrenophora tritici-repentis was supported in the other varieties grown in close proximity. They showed early spike maturation, compared with the flag leaf and lower resistance to low temperatures in 2004 and 2005.
AB  - Četrnaest genotipova ozime pšenice dobijenih iz Češke Republike radi testiranja na otpornost prema prouzrokovačima bolesti, posejano je (2003. godine) u saksije i uzgajano u poljskim uslovima pored LRTCW linije i sorte Rodna iz Srbije i Crne Gore. Po tipovima reakcije svi genotipovi su bili osetljivi prema Puccinia triticina u stadijumu sejanaca u stakleniku. Na sortama sa relativno kraćim trajanjem lisne površine Pyrenophora tritid-repentis je pokrila 20% lisne površine ispod poslednja dva. Sledeće godine seme pomenutih genotipova je posejano u polju, ali nije došlo do pojave žuto-mrke pegavosti. Prosečna razlika po intenzitetu zaraze sa R triticina između dve godine je na sortama sa R tritici-repentis bila 51% a za ostale 23%. Utvrđeno je da su čak i manje doze toksina smanjile razvoj obligatnog patogena R triticina. Hipoteza o prenošenju prouzrokovača žuto-mrke pegavosti semenom podržana je i preko drugih sorti gajenih u blizini. One su ispoljile rano odumiranje klasa u odnosu na zastavičar (u našim uslovima) i slabiju otpornost prema niskim temperaturama u 2005. godini.

AB  - The former method for estimating characters of resistance level to Puccinia triticina at seedling stage in greenhouse was of low capacity according to number of simultaneous tested wheat genotypes because of inoculation in settling tower, three days of successive pustule counting on each plant and time spent in data processing. The aim was to change all these limiting factors and achieve at least the similar correlation of data processed throw new formula with maximal infection intensities in field. The resistance characters values of seedlings were achieved at approximate 20 °C in greenhouse during the winter period (temperature rising below 24 °C increase the leaf rust development).

Parcelice (7m 2) tretirane (T) su preparatom Folicur EC 250 (250 g/I tebukonazol+ 20% dodecilbenzosulfonska kiselina) 24.05. 2004. godine (5 cm 3 preparata na 100 m2), bile su paralelno postavljene, a udaljene dva metra od netretiranih (K) posejanih istim genotipom. Očitavanja intenziteta zaraze su vršena 20.05., 02.06., 10.06 i 21.06 2004. godine. Na srednje kasnoj sorti Pobeda zabeležen je maksimalan intenzitet Puccinia triticina 50, Erysiphe graminis 25, a na parcelicama tretiranim fungicidom 20-30 i 10.

Sowing was performed on 22.10. 2003. as harvesting on 06.07.2004. Parcels (7 m2) treated (T) with fungicide Folicur EC 250 (250 g/I tebukonazole + 20% dodecilbenzosulfonic acid) on 24.05.2004. (5 cm3 of the fungicide on 100 m2) were parallel with untreated (K) sown by same genotype two meters distanced. Estimation of the infection intensities was on 20.05, 02.06, 10.06. and 21.06.2004. Middle late maturating variety Pobeda
allowed the maximal intensity of Puccinia triticina 50, Erysiphe graminis 25 untreated and 20-30 and 10 treated.

AB  - Blumeria graminis tritici, the causal agent of Powdery mildew, is a regular and economically important disease of wheat in Serbia and a major disease problem in wheat crops in Europe, particularly in northern and western parts. Infection intensity vanes in dependence of wheat variety, climate conditions and agricultural practices. Although there have been no epiphytotics in Serbia yet, this disease can play a significant role in yield formation. Successful wheat breeding for resistance to the causal agent of powdery mildew is based on the identification of virulence and changes in the pathogen population. The asexual part of the population of E. graminis tritici consists of patothypes formed by asexual reproduction in spring. The dynamics of the population is ensured by the combination of pathotypes of different origin. This paper reviews the results obtained in the period of 7 years, from 1997 to 2003. The population of B. graminis tritici was studied during wheat vegetation in the spring, using mobile nurseries in the location Rimski Šancevi near Novi Sad.

abstract = "Blumeria graminis tritici, the causal agent of Powdery mildew, is a regular and economically important disease of wheat in Serbia and a major disease problem in wheat crops in Europe, particularly in northern and western parts. Infection intensity vanes in dependence of wheat variety, climate conditions and agricultural practices. Although there have been no epiphytotics in Serbia yet, this disease can play a significant role in yield formation. Successful wheat breeding for resistance to the causal agent of powdery mildew is based on the identification of virulence and changes in the pathogen population. The asexual part of the population of E. graminis tritici consists of patothypes formed by asexual reproduction in spring. The dynamics of the population is ensured by the combination of pathotypes of different origin. This paper reviews the results obtained in the period of 7 years, from 1997 to 2003. The population of B. graminis tritici was studied during wheat vegetation in the spring, using mobile nurseries in the location Rimski Šancevi near Novi Sad.",

AB  - Primena folijarnih fungicida sa ciljem suzbijanja parazita na strnim žitima u 2001. godini bila je opravdana, a što su potvrdili rezultati mikroogleda sa Rimskih Šančeva, Kragujevca i Sombora. Kod pšenice povećanje prinosa iznosilo je od devet do 28%, a na ječmu od dva do 23%. Značajnost povećanja prinosa bila je u direktnoj korelaciji sa osetljivoscšću sorte, vremenom primene i efikasnošću preparata.

Lr nil reactions to severities of Puccinia triticna and Puccinia striiformis

AB  - Resistance according to characters, to Puccinia triticina and Puccinia striifonnis of the Lr near isogenics Thatcher based lines were investigated in field conditions during the 2001., in Yugoslavia and Bulgaria. Differences in reaction types and infection intensity exist in and between localities. Completely resistant were lines Lr 9, Lr 19 and Lr 24 (last only in Yugoslavia). In Bulgaria were notified higher levels of Puccinia triticina severities connected with environment influence and absence of competition with the yellow rust causer. The data for Lr 23, Lr 33 and Lr 34 lines are most different comparing two localities. Previously estimated level of incomplete resistance of Lr 17, Lr 21 and Lr 23 lines was approved in Yugoslavia. Puccinia striiformis have been occurred only in our country. Most resistant lines according to severity of the attack were Lr 23, Lr 24, Lr 25 Lr 22a, Lr 3KA, Lr 27 and Lr 37 while Lr 11, Lr 16, Lr 19, Lr 25 and Lr 34 reacted hipersensitively. Opposite was with Lr 3, Lr 14b, Lr 18, Lr 32 and Lr 38. So, some of mentioned Lr lines possibly gave more resistance than those carrying Yr genes closely linked or identical with Lr genes (Yr 9 with Lr 26 Yr 18 with Lr 34 and Yr 17 with Lr 37).
AB  - Ispitivane su razlike po otpornosti između skoro izogenih linija različitih po hromozomima nosiocima gena za otpornost prema prouzrokovaču lisne rđe (NIL) prema tom parazitu i Puccinia striiformis (prouzrokovač žute rđe) u Jugoslaviji i Bugarskoj. Razlike po reakcionim tipovima i intenzitetima zaraze s Puccinia triticina postoje kod Lr skoro izogenih linija u istim i između lokaliteta. Kompletno otporne su linije Lr 9 i Lr 19 i Lr 24 (samo u Jugoslaviji). U Bugarskoj su zapaženi nešto niži reakcioni tipovi i viši intenziteti tokom 2001. godine. Najviše se razlikuju podaci za Lr 23, Lr 33 i Lr 34 linije. Ranije određen stepen nekompletne otpornosti Lr 17, Lr 21 i Lr 23 linija u Bugarskoj je potvrđen i kod nas. Puccinia striiformis se javila samo u Jugoslaviji. Contribution of non-specific leaf rust resistance in Yugoslav wheat production and breeding

AB  - The term of the non-specific resistance is based on interactions between different aviable virulences of
pathogen and host genotype without significant differences in expression. The numerous genotypes
which show the resistance characters were crossed (in the Institute of field and vegetable crops). The
result are varieties with satisfactory level of the resistance to Puccinia recondita tritici (some of them
ocupied 20% of in the Yugoslavia by wheat covered area), for eight or more years, without cases of
predictable and proved overcoming in particular region. Varieties Renesansa, Prima, Lasta and
according to investigated character similar new genotypes possess the relative (in comparison with
before or nowadays widespread varieties Novosadska Rana 2 or Evropa 90) higher level of the partial
resistance in the seedling (greenhouse) and adult stage in the field, without influence of
pseudoresistance increasing factors (bad growing conditions, short green leaf area period etc). By the
genealogies it is expectable that they possess known genes for the resistance effective to some
virulence of the pathogen before or out of the region. Mostly, they are not originated from relative
species (only wheat/rye translocation is common). Variety Lasta is most stable in expresion of nonspecific
resistance characters.

AB  - Opisan je veliki broj parazita strnih žita ali svega nekoliko u našim uslovima nanosi ekonomski značajne štete. Među njima najznačajniji su oko 200 prouzrokovača bolesti pšenice, od kojih se pedesetak smatra ekonomski značajnim. U radu je dat pregled najznačajnijih parazita strnih žita, njihova štetnost, gubici u prinosu i nivo otpornosti novosadskih genotipova. Od više štetnih vrsta, tokom 1999/ 2000.g. , na strnim žitima ekonomski značajne bili su štetni glodari, žitna pijavica i žitni bauljar. U glavnim proizvodnim rejonima gajenja strnih žita dominiraju jednogodišnji korovi, mada se poslednjih godina udeo višegodišnjih korova povećava. Kao rezultat niskog nivoa agrotehnike i odsustva adekvatnih mera u suzbijanju korova u poslednjih nekoliko godina, u pojedinim lokalitetima Vojvodine registrovana je visoka brojnost korova Galium aparine L, Cirsium arvense Scop. i Matricaria chamomilla L.
AB  - Among the 20 most widely grown NS wheat cultivars, the ones that are the most resistant to obligate parasites are Mina, Pesma and Tiha. The following cultivars from the NS wheat breeding program are resistant to S. tritici: Francuska, Di na, Evropa 90, Suboti anka, Jednota, Dejana, Lasta, Pesma and Danica. Tests conducted under field and controlled conditions have shown that the NS winter wheat lines NS 56/91 and NS 45/92 are as resistant to the spike fusarium disease as the most resistant cultivars Sumai 3, Frontana and Amigo. Among the commercially grown cultivars, the cultivars Renesansa, Jarebica, Tera, Novosadska Rana 5 and Evropa 90 have higher resistance than the others.

AB  - Stamena is a winter wheat variety developed at the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Novi Sad, Yugoslavia. It was released by the Federal Commission for varietals Approval in 1999. Stamena was developed by crossing genetically divergent and highly productive parents Lasta and Rodna (Breeders: T. Mišić. N. Mladenov, Z. Jerković and R. Jevtić). Spike is white, smooth, awn less, medium compact with 18-21 spike lets. The grain is vitreous and dark red (Triticum aestivum L. ssp. vulgar e var. lutescens). Stamena is a medium early variety, 1 day earlier than Partizanka and 3 days earlier than Jugoslavija (Table 4). It has excellent resistance to winterkilling, as in very winter hardy Partizanka. The average stem height is 78 cm, with a good resistance to lodging. Stamena has field resistance to leaf rust (Pucce, recondita tritict), horizontal resistance, which is the type of resistance that modern wheat breeding is interested in. The resistance to stem rust (Pucce, graminis tritict) is good and to powdery mildew (Erysiphegraminis tritici) very good. The 1000 grain mass is about 32 g and volume grain mass 81.3 kg/hi. (Table 2). Stamena is classified in the subgroup A-l. It has excellent milling and baking quality and it belong to the 1st technological group (quality enhancer). The quantity of dry gluten is about 9%. The variety Stamena is a very productive, with the genetic potential for grain above 11 t/ha suitable for growing on fertile and less fertile soils. It has started to be grown commercially in 2000.
AB  - Ozima, srednje rana sorta pšenice Stamena, oplemenjena je metodom proste hibridizacije genetički divergentnih roditelja, sorti Lasta i Rodna. U njoj su vrlo uspešno kombinovani geni koji kontrolišu glavne agronomske osobine: potencijal prinosa zrna iznad 11 t/ha, odličan tehnološki kvalitet na nivou poboljšivača, visoka otpornost prema niskim temperaturama i mrazu kao i pojavama koje prate mraz (golomrazici i suvomrazici), poljska otpornost prema prouzrokovaču lisne rđe (Pucce. recondita tritict) i dobra otpornost prema stabljičnoj rđi i vrlo dobra prema pepelnici (Pucce. graminis tritici, Erysiphe graminis tritici), srednje niska stabljika, oko 78 cm visine i dobra otpornost prema poleganju. Ističe se velikom biološkom plastičnošću i sposobnošću adaptacije različitim klimatsko-zemljišnim uslovima. Vrlo je perspektivna sorta. Registrovanje od strane Savezne komisije za priznavanje sorti 1999 godine (selekcioneri T. Mišić, N. Mladenov. Z. Jerković i R.Jevtić).

Inheritance of the wheat active resistance to puccinia recondita tritici

AB  - Over many years, under field conditions after artificial inoculation resistance to Puccinia recondita tritici_of three winter wheat genotypes KM 157/89, Kremna and Delta cv. was estimated. Complete resistant line from Bulgaria was crossed with Yugoslavian incompletely resistant cultivars. The aim of the study was to create durable resistant genotypes containing both active genes for resistance based on the investigation of parental resemblance, mode of the inheritance, type of the interaction and the number of involved genes. For durability, the identical properties of certain parental genes are of great importance. According to the segregation in the types and assessments of the resistance after quantitative inoculation of the progenies and parents in the settling tower, it can be concluded that incomplete resistance character was controlled by accumulated interacting genes in different combinations, while complete resistance by three complementary effective genes. One of the genes from KM 157/89 (AABBCC) was also noticed in Delta (aaBBcc) i Kremna (aabbCC) cv. The genes for complete and incomplete resistance in the investigated progenies were not alike. Combination or dosage of the investigated genes for hypersensitivity did not influence the incomplete resistance.
AB  - Nasleđivanje otpornosti prema Puccinia recondita tritid u F l i F2 potomstavima iz ukrštanja jednog kompletno sa dva različito nekompletno otporna genotipa, ispitivano je u kontrolisanim uslovima u stadijumu sejanaca. Nasleđivanje kompletne otpornosti je dominantno. U F2 generaciji dolaze do izražaja i geni za nekompletnu otpornost, ispoljeni različitom uspešnošću infekcije. Oni nisu identični sa tri gena za hipersenzitivnu reakciju, čiji je rezultat većinom kompletna otpornost (O i) a nasleđuju se i deluju nezavisno.

Od 20 najraširenijih novosadskih sorti pšenice, po svojoj otpornosti prema E. graminis triticii P. recondita, u 1999. g. izdvajaju se sorte Mina, Pesma i Tiha. Što se tiče insekata, u radu se prikazuju rezultati višegodišnjeg rada ispitivanja otpornosti, odnosno tolerantnosti prema žitnoj stenici (Eurygaster austriaca), žutoj pšenicnoj muvi (Opomyza florum) i žitnoj pijavici (Lema melanopus).
AB  - Because pathogens and insects significantly affect wheat yield level, breeding for resistance is the most effective method of their control which in turn, secures satisfactory yields. In the course of 1998 and 1999, domestic wheat varieties and lines were tested for resistance to the prevalent parasites Erysiphe graminis and Puccinia recondita. The tests were conducted in general and specific disease nurseries. Infection coefficients (ACI) were calculated on the basis of the registered intensities and types of infection.
