Genetic resources of alternative crops

Abstract
Alternative crops are known as plant species that occupy small and variable agricultural areas. The crops adapted to agro ecological conditions of Southeast Europe are with the developed technology of the production which means machinery commonly used for conventional crops with a moderate increase in manual labor. Therefore significant income can be made on relatively small acreages, making these crops valuable firstly for integrated, ecological and organic cultivation systems. The paper describes available genetic resources of sorghum, hemp, buckwheat, millet, pumpkins and medicinal, aromatic and spice plants of the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops, Novi Sad.
U alternativne kulture se svrstavaju biljne vrste koje se gaje na malim i vrlo promenljivim površinama. Kod alternativnih kultura kojima odgovaraju klimatski uslovi jugoistočne Evrope tehnološki proces proizvodnje je poznat, a mehanizacija je ista kao kod konvencionalnih kultura. Stoga se uz nešto veće angažovanje manualne radne snage može ostvariti značajan dohodak i na manjim površinama, te je njihovo gajenje značajno pre svega za integralne, ekološke i organske sisteme. U radu su sagledani genetički resursi: sirkova, konoplje, heljde, prosa, tikava i lekovitog, aromatičnog i začinskog bilja Instituta za ratarstvo i povrtarstvo iz Novog Sada.
