AB - Camelina, a traditional oil-producing plant, has gained global interest due to the highquality oil found in its seeds. It has numerous applications, including human dietary consumption, aviation biofuel, and biodiesel production. Seed quality testing is crucial for identifying suitable seed batches for market sale. Currently, vigor tests have been established for a limited selection of commercially cultivated plant species, including camelina. This study aims to assess seed vigor and contribute to the development and validation of methods/tests for reliable vigor assessment. The experiment used two camelina genotypes developed at the Institute of Field and Vegetables Crops in Novi Sad, Serbia. The findings revealed a noteworthy reduction in germination percentages for both genotypes across all the conducted tests, as compared to the conventional laboratory germination. Simultaneously, there was a notable increase in abnormal seedlings. However, no statistically significant differences in the values of growth parameters were observed among the applied tests. In summary, the reduced seed vigor values indicate potential issues with this trait, despite generally sound germination. Additionally, the preliminary findings and methodology developed for testing the camelina seed vigor highlighted the need for optimization when applying these tests to other species to ensure their reliability and applicability.

AB - Red clover (Trifolium pratense L.) is the second most important perennial
forage legume in the Republic of Serbia, cultivated on 90-120.000 ha. The
objective of this study was to determine the effects of cutting management on
seed yield, some seed yield components, and seed quality of the NS red clover
variety Una during the second and third year of growing. Five cutting
managements with variable dates of initial cutting were tested in the 2019-2020
period. The first cutting was used for seed production in the C1 management and
the second growth in the C2-C5 managements (C2-budding, C3-start of
flowering, C4-mid of flowering, and C5-full flowering). In all cutting systems,
significantly higher seed yields were achieved in the second year of growing.
Unfavourable environmental conditions for pollinators as well as thinning of red
clover crops in the third year of growing are the main reasons for low seed yields.
The highest seed yield (539 kg/ha) was achieved in the C2 cutting management
in the second year of growing. The cutting management had no significant effects
on red clover seed quality.

AB - Isoflavones are one of the best studied groups of phytoestrogens. Phytoestrogens are plant compounds that can exhibit a biological effect similar to the reproductive hormone estrogen. From nutritive and pharmaceutical aspect, red clover is one of the most important sources of these compounds, and they are often used as a raw material for production of dietary supplements used for alleviation of menopausal symptoms.
The objective of this study was to determine the concentrations of isoflavones in 11 diploid (2n) and 10 tetraploid (4n) cultivars of red clover (Trifolium pratense L.) from different origine, in a whole plant and separately: in stems, leaves and flowers at the stage of full flowering. Herbage samples from whole and different parts of plant were dried at 60˚C for about 48 hours, homogenized and grounded to a particle size of Ӕ = 0.8 mm as well as mixed with 2 ml of water on 37°C. After that, HCl and ethanol are added and mixture is heated to boiling. Obtained extract are purified by solid phase extraction on HLB cartridges and analyzed on HPLC after filtration. Zorbax SB C 18 reversed phase HPLC column is used for separation of main isoflavones present in red clover: formononetin, biochanin A, genistein and daidzein. Isoflavones are identified by comparing the retention times in HPLC chromatograms and UV spectral patterns with those of standard compounds. Isoflavone concentrations are quantified by external standard method using five-point regression curves of formononetin, biochanin A, genistein, and daidzein standard compounds.
The content of total isoflavones ranged from 3.83 (Marieta -2n cultivar) to 17.11 mg g-1 DM (Margot-4n cultivar). Red clover plant parts were significantly different according to isoflavone content. The leaf was the richest source of isoflavones (6.54 mg g-1 DM), followed by flowers (1,96 mg g-1 DM) and stem (1.16 mg g-1 DM). Biochanin A and formononetin were the predominant isoflavones in leaves, while genistein was mostly present in flowers.
Tetraploid red clover cultivars (4n) had significantly higher isoflavones content compared to diploids (2n). On average, the content of isoflavones in tetraploids (11.0 mg g-1 DM) is statistically significantly higher than in diploids (8.44 mg g-1 DM).

AB - Heat stress seriously affects the production of cool-season food legume crops such as
garden peas. Seed priming is a widely used technique that increases germination and improves
plant growth and development, resulting in better field performance and higher yield of crops. In
the current study, we investigated three seed priming treatments—hydropriming (dH2O),
osmopriming (2.2% w/v CaCl2), and hormopriming (50 mg L-1 salicylic acid - SA)—and their effect
on germination, initial seedling development, and physiological traits of two novel garden pea
cultivars, under optimal conditions and heat stress. Seed priming with H2O, CaCl2, and SA enhanced
garden pea performance under both optimal and stress conditions via significant improvements in
germination energy, final germination, mean germination time, mean germination rate, seedling
vigor index, shoot length, root length, fresh seedling weight, dry seedling weight, shoot elongation
rate, root elongation rate, relative water content, chlorophyll content, and membrane stability index,
as compared to control. The highest effect on the examined parameters was achieved by
osmopriming and hormopriming in both cultivars, suggesting that these treatments could be used
to improve the heat stress tolerance of garden pea, after extensive field trials

AB - Backgraund: The presence or absence of fungi on the seed surface is an important aspect that determines the quality of seeds. Since the data on the presence of Fusarium spp. and other seed-borne pathogens on vegetable pea in Serbia are scarce, the aim of this study was to isolate seed-borne pathogens and identify the disease-causing Fusarium spp. from the infected pea seed.
Methods: Colony morphology and microscopic characters of isolated Fusarium species were recorded from the cultures grown on PDA and CLA, respectively. In order to confirm the morphological identification at the species level, a single-spore culture of the representative isolates was subjected to genomic DNA extraction and gene amplification using the translational elongation factor 1α(TEF-1α) region. The PCR products were sequenced and the sequences were compared against the GenBank nucleotide database by using the BLAST alignment.
Result: Based on morphological and microscopic characteristics, as well as molecular identification by sequencing the TEF gene, the presence of Fusarium equiseti and F. proliferatum was confirmed on the representative isolates Ps18, Ps19 and Ps1, Ps36 obtained from vegetable pea seeds, respectively. According to our knowledge and research, this is the first report of F. equiseti and F. proliferatum on vegetable pea seeds in Serbia.

AB - Nanopriming is a newly developed seed technology that improves seed germination, initial plant growth, and crop yield by enabling plants to withstand a variety of abiotic stresses. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of comprehensive metal-based (Co, Mn, Cu, Fe, Zn, Mo, and Se) nanopriming as compared to hydro- and non-primed seeds of three different pea cultivars in a germination test. Seed priming with nanoparticles (NPs) improved field pea quality via significant increase in germination energy (cv. E-244), final germination (cv. E-244, cv. Dukat), shoot length (cv. E-244, cv. Partner), root length (cv. E-244, cv. Dukat, cv. Partner), fresh shoot weight (cv. Partner), dry shoot weight (cv. Partner), seedling vigor index (cv. E-244, cv. Partner), and chlorophyll content (cv. Dukat, cv. Partner), as compared to both hydropriming and the control. Moreover, nanopriming led to significant improvements in shoot length, fresh shoot length, dry shoot length, seedling vigor index (cv. Dukat), and dry root weight (cv. E-244) as compared to the control only. In general, the highest effect on the examined parameters was achieved by nanopriming, indicating that this treatment may be utilized to raise field pea quality performance. To optimize the method, it is necessary to conduct extensive laboratory and field trials.

AB - Soil salinization is one of the most significant global problems, leading to reduced agricultural productivity potential and biodiversity. The main salt commonly found on the surface of soils and in water is NaCl, which directly impacts plant growth and land degradation. Therefore, this study was conducted to examine the morpho-physiological characteristics of two genotypes of Camelina sativa (‘NS Slatka’; ‘NS Zlatka’) and two genotypes of Carthamus tinctorius (‘NS Lana’; ‘NS Una’), which potentially characterize them as salt-tolerant crops. The levels of salinity tolerance were compared under five NaCl treatments, ranging from 0 mM to 200 mM. Based on the obtained results, seeds of all four genotypes germinated at the highest salt concentration (200mM NaCl), but the germination percentage declined at all salt oncentrations. Moreover, lower salt concentrations induced root elongation and reduced shoot length of seedlings of all four genotypes. Salt stress tolerance indexes showed the importance of converting the plant parameters into mathematical indexes, and the significance of comparing all the tolerance indexes according to salt stress.

AB - Salinity is one of the greatest challenges of successful agricultural production worldwide. However, seed priming might be efficient practice for enhancing seed germination and initial plant growth and development. This experiment was undertaken with the aim of assessing the impact of different priming methods on seed quality parameters and early growth of garden pea (Pisum sativum L.) cultivars under salinity stress. Pea seeds of three different cultivars were primed with water (hydropriming), KNO3 solution (0.5%), and PEG 6000 solution (-0.5 MPa) for 24h in the dark. Unprimed and primed seeds were germinated between filter papers saturated with 120 mM NaCl using the germination test. The results clearly showed that the examined parameters of primed pea seeds were substantially greater than the parameters of unprimed seeds under saline stress. Moreover, seed priming with KNO3 and PEG solutions were more effective in improving seed quality and initial growth in garden peas than hydropriming.

AB - The objective of this study was to examine the effects of different priming treatments on seed quality and initial growth and development of garden pea. For this purpose, three garden pea cultivars, developed at the Institute of Field and Vegetable crops, Novi Sad were examined. The laboratory experiment was conducted under optimal conditions. Seeds were primed in water (hydropriming), 0.5% KNO3 solution, and -0.49 MPa PEG solution for 24 hours; non-primed seeds were controls. The results showed that the percentage of germination, shoot and root length, and mean germination rate significantly increased after the tested priming treatments, while the percentage of abnormal seedlings and mean germination time were significantly decreased after the priming treatments compared to the control. The increase of fresh and dry seedling biomass was significant only in cv.1 and cv.2. Despite the genetic diversity of pea cultivars, the results indicated that the examined seed priming treatments enhanced seed quality and vigour of garden pea cultivars.

AB - Background: This study was carried out for an understanding of the antioxidant mechanisms of field pea varieties under osmotic stress conditions caused by a lack of water. The activities of antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), ascorbate peroxidase (APx) and glutathione reductase (GR) were examined and analyzed. The gene expression levels of Cu/Zn SOD, cAPx and GR genes were also examined.
Methods: Osmotic stress was stimulated using PEG 6000 with the osmotic potential of -0.1 MPa in 10 days old plant seedlings. The activity of the antioxidant enzymes was measured in the shoots and roots of pea seedlings. The gene expression levels of genes coding antioxidative enzymes were examined by the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) technique. Arabidopsis 18S rRNA was used as endogenous control.
Result: Osmotic stress changed the activities of antioxidant enzymes in the shoots and roots of pea seedlings. Varieties more tolerant to osmotic stress showed a significant increase in antioxidant activities in shoots and roots, while sensitive varieties showed a significant decrease. The results of the analysis of the expression of genes, coding for antioxidant enzymes, showed that the reaction of the tested cultivars to ROS was the result of increased expression of the tested genes in tolerant cultivars, i.e. decreased expression in sensitive cultivars.

AB - The competitiveness of Bradyrhizobium japonicum inoculation strain against indigenous rhizobia was examined in a soil pot experiment. The effect of inoculation strain was evaluated under different soil conditions: with or without previously grown soybean and applied commercial inoculant. Molecular identification of inoculation strain and investigated rhizobial isolates, obtained from nodules representing inoculated treatments, was performed based on 16S rDNA and enterobacterial repetitive intergenic consensus (ERIC) sequencing. Inoculation strain showed a significant effect on the investigated parameters in both soils. Higher nodule occupancy (45% vs. 18%), nodule number (111% vs. 5%), nodule dry weight (49% vs. 9%), shoot length (15% vs. 7%), root length (31% vs. 13%), shoot dry weight (34% vs. 11%), shoot nitrogen content (27% vs. 2%), and nodule nitrogen content (9% vs. 5%) was detected in soil without previously grown soybean and applied commercial inoculant. Soil had a significant effect on the shoot, root and nodule nitrogen content, while interaction of experimental factors significantly altered dry weight and nitrogen content of shoots, roots and nodules, as well as number of nodules. Nodulation parameters were significantly related with shoot dry weight, shoot and nodule nitrogen content. Symbiotic performance of inoculation strains in the field could be improved through co-selection for their competitiveness and effectiveness.

AB - Background: Bacillus spp., known to promote growth and reduce disease of various field and vegetable crops, are frequently found in soils. The objective of the study was to select effective Bacillus spp. isolates with multiple plant growth properties and antifungal activities and to examine their effect on germination of soybean. Bacterial isolates were screened for production of indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) and siderophores and solubilization of phosphate. The ability of bacterial isolates to inhibit the growth of seven phytopathogenic fungi affecting soybean was determined using a dual plate assay. Bacillus spp. were further selected and examined in a seed germination test. All Bacillus spp. isolates were positive for IAA production, while siderophore production and P-solubilization were observed in 80% and 20% bacterial isolates, respectively. Bacillus spp. exhibited the highest antifungal activity against Diaporthe caulivora, followed by Diaporthe sojae, Diaporthe eres, Diaporthe longicolla and Macrophomina phaseolina and the least antagonistic effect toward Fusarium graminearum and Fusarium subglutinans. Selected isolates of B. subtilis significantly affected final germination, shoot length, root length, shoot dry weight and root dry weight of two soybean cultivars. The most effective Bacillus spp. isolates could be used as potential inoculants for improving soybean productivity.

AB - Bio-priming is a new technique of seed treatment that improves seed germination, vigor, crop growth and yield. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of Bradyrhizobium japonicum (commercial strains) and Bacillus megaterium (newly isolated strains) as a single inoculant and co-inoculant during seed bio-priming to improve seed germination and initial seedling growth of two soybean cultivars. The treated seeds were subjected to germination test (GT), cold test (CT) and accelerated aging test (AAT). B. megaterium significantly improved all parameters in GT and CT; final germination, shoot length, root length, root dry weight, and seedling vigor index in AAT, as compared to control. In addition, co-inoculation significantly increased all parameters except shoot dry weight in GT; all parameters in CT; germination energy, shoot length, root length, and seedling vigor index in AAT, in comparison to the control. Moreover, Br. japonicum significantly improved the germination energy, shoot length, shoot dry weight, root dry weight, and seedling vigor index in GT; all parameters in CT; shoot length, root length, and seedling vigor index in AAT, compared with non-primed seeds. Thus, B. megaterium strains could be used in soybean bio-priming as a potential single inoculant and co-inoculant, following proper field evaluation.

AB - Sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) is one of the most important oilseed crops worldwide. Numerous pathogens can affect sunflower cultivation and production, causing serious yield losses. The control of sunflower pathogens is conditioned by the limited management strategies, and it is focused on genetic resistance and chemical treatments. However, the excessive usage of agrochemicals leads to the loss of soil fertility and gradual decrease of microbial diversity, which is subsequently reflected in reduced growth and yield. For as much, the use of Bacillus spp. is becoming more frequent in modern agriculture as an environmentally sustainable and safe alternative to synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. Spore-forming Bacillus spp. are well known to protect plants from seed or soil-borne pathogens by the synthesis of various metabolites with antifungal activity, such as hydrolytic enzymes and antibiotics. These bacteria are also reported to enhance plant growth through the phytohormone production and nutrient acquisition. This study aimed to select the most effective Bacillus spp. from a group of ten antagonistic strains by antifungal activity assay.

AB - The sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) is one of the most important oil crops in the world and the most important cultivated oil crop in Serbia, where it is grown on about 160,000 to 210,000 ha and the seed yield ranging from 1.7 to 2.3 t/ha. Several seed-borne fungi including species of Alternaria, Aspergillus, Cladosporium, Drechslera, Epicoccum, Fusarium and Penicillium, have been reported from sunflower seeds and could cause different levels of losses in its production. During the routine seed quality control and seed health testing analysis of sunflower, according to ISTA Rules, Cladosporium spp. infection was observed on an average of 5%. The aim of this study was the isolation and identification of Cladosporium spp. based on their morphological characteristics and molecular analyses. Isolation of the pathogen was carried out by transferring infected seeds onto a potato dextrose agar (PDA), and incubated for 5 days at 25 °C. Cladosporium-like colonies were transferred onto fresh PDA and water agar (WA, 17 g agar and 1 liter of distilled H2O) to obtain monosporial isolates. Seven days later, five isolates formed grey-greyish brown, velvet-like colony with apically and laterally branched conidiophores. Margin of the colony was white to grey-olivaceous. Conidias were mostly globose to subglobose, 3-4.5 µm in diameter, mild to dark olivaceous brown.

abstract = "The sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) is one of the most important oil crops in the world and the most important cultivated oil crop in Serbia, where it is grown on about 160,000 to 210,000 ha and the seed yield ranging from 1.7 to 2.3 t/ha. Several seed-borne fungi including species of Alternaria, Aspergillus, Cladosporium, Drechslera, Epicoccum, Fusarium and Penicillium, have been reported from sunflower seeds and could cause different levels of losses in its production. AB - Bacillus spp. are well known to protect plants from seed or soil-borne
pathogens by the synthesis of various metabolites with antimicrobial activity, such as hydrolytic enzymes and antibiotics. This study aimed to select the most effective Bacillus spp.
from a group of ten antagonistic strains by antifungal activity assay. Bacillus strains were
primarily isolated from the soil and identified as B. safensis, B. pumilus and B. subtilis by
16S rDNA sequencing. The four analyzed fungi: Macrophomina phaseolina, Alternaria
alternata, Cladosporium cladosporoides, and Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, were obtained from
sunflower seeds and identified using PCR analysis and primers specific for ITS region. The
antifungal activity of bacterial strains was examined in a dual plate assay. Bacillus spp.
demonstrated the highest antagonism against S. sclerotiorum, followed by C. cladosporoides,
M. phaseolina, and A. alternata, with an average percentage of growth inhibition (PGI) of 77%,
70%, 64% and 59%, respectively. Overall, Bacillus spp. included in this study demonstrated
a rather strong biocontrol potential, although the effect of particular strain varied depending
on the tested fungi. The highest antagonistic effect toward M. phaseolina and A. alternata
was exhibited by B. safensis B2 and B. pumilus B3. B. pumilus B11 and B. subtilis B32 were
the most efficient against C. cladosporoides, whereas B. pumilus B3 and B. subtilis B7 had
the highest antifungal activity against S. sclerotiorum. Findings point to the fact that the
most effective Bacillus spp. could be used as potential biocontrol agents for improving plant
health and productivity.

AB - The effects of physical invigoration seed treatment are manifested in many ways, including morphological and structural aspects, changes in the gene expression and the accumulation of proteins and metabolites. To invigorate seed and to investigate the effects of different invigoration techniques on germination and growth seedling characteristics of sunflower, an experiment was conducted with sunflower hybrid Fantazija at the Laboratory for seed testing, Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops, Novi Sad, Serbia. The process of seed invigoration was performed after seeds were exposed to double stressful condition of high temperature and high humidity (72h at 41°C) (the accelerate aging test) by H2O treatment (the seeds were soaked in water for 24 hours) and KH2PO4 treatment (the seeds were soaked in KH2PO4 solution for 24 hours), followed by washing and drying near to initial weight. Treatments with H2O and KH2PO4 affected the decrease of germination, but they were effective in reducing mean germination time (MGT). After the accelerate aging test, the process of invigoration (both H2O and KH2PO4) influenced a minor increase germination percentage, but MGT was prolonged.

AB - Seed deterioration is an unavoidable process to which seeds of oilseed plant species such as sunflower are especially sensitive. This study aimed to determine whether different invigoration techniques can improve the attributes of germination in sunflower and alleviate the effects of seed ageing. Both aged and non-aged seeds were subjected to invigoration by pre-soaking with distilled water and with 3% of KH2PO4 for 24 hours at 25°C. Germination performance, seedling growth and SDS-PAGE protein profile were determined. The outcome of invigoration depended on the condition of the seeds: invigoration of seeds with both water and KH2PO4 reduced the percentage of germination in non-aged seeds, while in aged seeds there was an increase in germination compared to the control. The SDS-PAGE seed protein profiles revealed that the low molecular weight proteins produced high-intensity bands and the high molecular weight proteins were in low concentrations. After accelerated ageing followed by H2O treatment, some bands of proteins appeared in the region of 2S albumins and were associated with a higher percentage of germination. Our results point out that invigoration treatments were more effective in low vigour seeds which can provide wide practical benefits.

After accelerated ageing followed by H2O treatment, some bands of proteins appeared in the region of 2S albumins and were associated with a higher percentage of germination. Our results point out that invigoration treatments were more effective in low vigour seeds which can provide wide practical benefits.",

AB - Grass pea (Lathyrus sativus L.) is a legume with high protein content and good quantities of essential amino acids. It has high tolerance to drought, high adaptability to extreme conditions, disease resistance and low input requirement for cultivation, which makes it very useful for cultivation by resource-poor farmers. Potential usage of grass pea is limited due to the presence of anti-nutritional factors including protease inhibitors, especially trypsin inhibitors. They have a major impact on nutritional value, by inhibiting pancreatic serine proteases (thus impairing protein digestion), but are also likely to protect legume seed against attack by predators. Although once extensively grown throughout Balkan Peninsula, grass pea was nearly forgotten. In recent years there was an effort to reintroduce and increase the interest of researchers and farmers in this crop. The aim of this study was to establish whether genotype and environment have significant influences on trypsin inhibitor activity (TIA) in grass pea and to determine whether TIA is correlated with seed protein content.

AB - Sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) is one of the most important oilseed crops throughout the world, and in Serbia it is grown on about 160,000 to 210,000 ha. Alternaria alternata (Fr.) Keissler has been detected as the most frequent seed-borne pathogen, able to infect a wide variety of plant species in different countries. During a routine seed quality control and seed health testing analysis of sunflower seed in 2018-2019, according to ISTA Rules, Alternaria spp. infection was observed on an average of 18%. The aim of this study was the isolation and identification of Alternaria spp. based on their morphological characteristics and molecular analyses. Isolation of the pathogen was carried out by transferring infected seeds onto a potato dextrose agar (PDA), and subsequent incubation at 25°C. Seven days later, 21 isolates formed circular, smooth, grey to brownish-black colonies, with concentric zones of very intensive sporulation. Conidiophores were branched, solitary or in small groups, brown to olivaceous brown, ranging from 128 to 232 µm. All isolates were subcultured onto a PDA using a single spore technique.

AB - Red clover (Trifolium pratense L.) is the second most important perennial forage legumes in the Republic of Serbia, cultivated on 90-120.000 ha. Nowadays red clover is considered as a very important catch crop and green manure as well as row material for production of pharmaceutical supplements based on phytoestrogens. Currently, domestic seed production is not sufficient to meet the demand, so the import of seeds from other countries is necessary. One of the most important factors that guarantee high yields of red clover seeds is cutting management, heavily influenced by environmental conditions. The objective of this study was to determine the effects of cutting management on seed yields, some seed yield components and seed quality of NS red clover variety Una. The trial was established on the experimental field of the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Bački Petrovac according to a randomized block design with three replicates. Red clover variety Una was sown on April 10, 2018, at a row-to-row spacing of 25 cm with a seeding rate of 15 kg ha-1. The size of the elementary plot unit was 15 m2 (3x5 m).

AB - Germination and seedling growth of seven genotypes of field pea (Pisum sativum L.) were studied in PEG-6000 solution having osmotic potentials -0.1 and -0.2 MPa. A study was undertaken to evaluate the influence of different osmotic potentials (MPa) on seed germination percentage (GP) and mean germination time (MGT). Results show that the percentage of germination decreased with a decrease in osmotic potential, while mean germination time increased. Variety Javor is much more sensitive than the other varieties at all levels of osmotic stress. By contrast, the lowest sensitivity of germination and MGT was found in varieties Mraz and Trezor. Seed germination tests at -0.1 to -0.2 MPa have the potential to be used as tests in field pea. Osmotic stress exposure and its duration significantly affected the growth of seedlings (shoot and root) and the accumulation of biomass, while its effect was more prominent on the growth of the shoot than on root growth, which was also confirmed by the root tolerance index.

AB - Delivery of micronutrients to plants through seed priming
improves seedling vigour and increases crops yields. Two-year
filed trial was conducted in Pančevo, Serbia, with aim to study the
effect of seed priming with zinc (Zn) on field performance of three
maize hybrids on calcareous chernozem deficient in plant available
Zn. Seed priming treatments were: control (without priming),
water priming and priming with 4 mM zinc sulphate water solution.
Seed priming had significant effect on early plant growth,
plant height, yield components, grain yield and grain Zn concentration.
Zn-priming promoted plant growth and increased final plant
height. Across two growing seasons with contrasting precipitation
and three tested maize hybrids, Zn-priming resulted in an average
increase of grain yield by about 18% compared to control, and by
about 8.4% compared to water priming. A significant relationship
between plant growth parameters, grain yield components and
grain yield was detected. Grain Zn concentration was increased by
Zn-priming in two hybrids in the season with less precipitation and
in one hybrid in the second season. The results imply that using the
seeds with elevated Zn content can improve overall field performance
of maize grown on calcareous chernozem.

about 8.4% compared to water priming. A significant relationship
between plant growth parameters, grain yield components and
grain yield was detected. Grain Zn concentration was increased by
Zn-priming in two hybrids in the season with less precipitation and
in one hybrid in the second season. The results imply that using the
seeds with elevated Zn content can improve overall field performance
of maize grown on calcareous chernozem.",

AB - U usevu pasulja i boranije širom sveta zabeleženo je preko 200 oboljenja različite
etiologije, međutim u mnogim delovima sveta najznačajnije štete u proizvodnji
mahunarki izazivaju upravo biljni virusi. Pasulj je domaćin 44 različita virusa
među kojima su najvažniji virus običnog mozika pasulja (Bean common mosaic
virus, BCMV), virus običnog nekrotičnog mozaika pasulja (Bean common mosaic
necrosis virus, BCMNV), virus žutog mozaika pasulja (Bean yellow mosaic virus,
BYMV) i virus mozaika krastavca (Cucumber mosaic virus, CMV). Virusi pasulja
uzroka široke rasprostranjenosti ovih virusa u svetu.
porasta biljaka i prinosa.
AB - Over 200 diseases with different etiologies have been determined in dry beans
and green beans. However, viral diseases seem to cause the greatest economic damage
to legume production in most parts of the world. Dry beans can be infected by
44 different viruses including Bean common mosaic virus (BCMV), Bean common
mosaic necrosis virus (BCMNV), Bean yellow mosaic virus (BYMV) and Cucumber
mosaic virus (CMV). Transmission through seeds and/or spread by aphids in
non-persistent manner play important role in worldwide distribution of bean viruses.
Viral diseases on dry and green beans can have an array of symptoms. The most
common symptoms are the mosaic pattern, variegation or deformation of leaves
and pods, resulting in reduced plant growth and yield.
