AB  - Poljoprivredna proizvodnja je u velikoj meri uslovljena klimatskim faktorima. Scenario globalne promene klime predviđa da će naredne godine biti sušne, sa toplijom klimom, koja će imati negativan uticaj na visinu prinosa ratarskih biljaka. Alternativne biljne vrste-ABV, zahvaljujući tolerantnosti prema suši i visokim temperaturama, imaju perspektivu u strukturi ratarske proizvodnje. Za dobijanje visokog i stabilnog prinosa semena alternativnih biljnih vrsta neophodno je pored kvalitetnog sertifikovanog semena primeniti i odgovarajuću sortnu tehnologiju gajenja, prilagođenu zahtevima pojedinih sorti, klimatskim uslovima lokaliteta gajenja i osobinama zemljišta. U ovoj studiji su ispitivani prinosi sorti: prosa (Biserka i Rumenka), heljde (Novosadska), sirka za zrno (Alba i Gold), sirka metlas a (Prima i Reform), konoplje (Helena i Marina), facelije (NS Priora), uljanog lana (NS Primus i NS Marko) i uljane tikve (Olivija i Olinka). Ostvareni prosečni prinosi ABV u 2022. godini bili su na nivou višegodišnjeg proseka. Visoke temperature i nedostatak padavina u kritičnim fazama rasta biljaka su uslovili prosečne i nešto niže prinose. Evidentne su velike i fluktuacije prinosa u zavisnosti od primenjenih agrotehničkih mera u toku vegetacionog perioda: vremena setve i navodnjavanja.

Natural products in stored product pest control: challenges and opportunities

AB  - Postharvest losses of stored grains are recognized as a major constraint in food security. Thus, the reduction of losses caused by stored product pests (insects, microorganisms and rodents) can increase available food supplies. The control of pests in storage and processing industry is mainly relying on the use of chemically synthesized pesticides and toxic fumigants. However, due a ban or restriction of a number of insecticides, there is an expansion in use of natural products (particularly inert dusts and botanicals). The efficacy of several inert dusts (diatomaceous earth - DE, kaolin clay - KA and vermiculite - VE (5, 7.5, 10, 15 and 20 gm-2)) and plant extracts of weed and invasive plant species (Erigeron cannadensis, Daucus carota and Halacsya sendtneri (0.5, 1 and 2%)) in suppressing the Sitophilus oryzae weevils was evaluated in contact toxicity tests. DE caused significant mortality at rates 10 (67.8%), 15 (75.3%) and 20 gm-2 (98.2 %), as well as KA (75%) at 10 gm-2, after 24 h. The mortality increased with the exposure period, so in both cases, after 72 h, the mortality was very high (97.8 – 100%), regardless on the applied rates. However, VE as well as plant extracts exhibited very low insecticidal activity, since the mortality was 0-17.5%, and 0-11%, respectively.

AB  - U ovoj studiji, analizirana je proizvodnja pšenice u dvadesetogodišnjem periodu (2001-2020. godina) u svetu i u Srbiji. Variranja visine prinosa zrna po jedinici površine u Srbiji poređene su sa količinom padavina u vegetacionom periodu pšenice. Kvantifikovanjem uticaja klimatskih promena na proizvodnju pšenice daje nam mogućnost da se kreiraju dugoročni planovi u poljoprivrednoj proizvodnji kako bi se održao visok i stabilan prinos zrna. Prosečan prinos zrna, za ispitivani period u svetu, iznosio je 3.112 kg ha-1 dok je u Srbiji bio veći za 26% i iznosio je 3.925 kg ha-1. I pored značajnih godišnjih variranja, trend povećanja prinosa pšenice u svetu bio je značajan. U 2020. godini prosečan prinos zrna u svetu je povećan za 23,5%, a u Srbiji za 34,6% u poređenju sa 2001. godinom. Analiza proizvodnje, kod svetski najvažnijih snabdevača pšenicom, beleži značajno povećanje prinosa po jedinici površine, kao i ukupnu proizvodnju.
AB  - This study analyzed wheat production in the twenty-year period (2001-2020) in the world and in Serbia. Variations in the yield of wheat grains per unit area in Serbia were compared with the amount of precipitation in the growing season. By quantifying the impact of climate change on wheat production, it gives us the opportunity to create long-term plans in agricultural production in order to maintain a high and stable grain yield. The average grain yield, for the examined period in the world, amounted to 3,112 kg ha-1, while in Serbia it was higher by 26% and amounted to 3,925 kg ha-1. Despite significant annual variations, the trend of increasing wheat yields in the world was significant. In 2020, the average grain yield in the world increased by 23.5%, and in Serbia by 34.6% compared to 2001. The analysis of production at the world's most important wheat suppliers records a significant increase in yield per unit area, as well as total production. AB  - In this paper are shown the results of the production characteristics of the perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) cv. `Naki', which grown in rows with different row spacing and seed rate in the agroecological conditions of central Serbia in three successive analysed years. Four levels of two observed factors were used in the experiment: row spacing (12.5; 25; 37.5 and 50 cm) and seed rate (9, 16, 23 and 30 kg ha(-1)). Due to the analyses, the height of the tiller, the length of the spike and the number of spikelets per spike gave better results by sowing in wider rows (37.5 and 50 cm) using lower seed rate (9 and 16 kg ha(-1)). Seed yield and harvest index responded favourably to sowing in rows at a wider row spacing (37.5 and 50 cm) in combination with a lower seed rate (9 and 16 kg ha(-1)), while shoot dry weight gave better results by sowing in narrower rows (12.5 cm) with lower seed rate (9 and 16 kg ha(-1)). Using the appropriate row spacing in sowing and the optimum of seed rate provides the highest results of the production characteristics of the perennial ryegrass that can be applied to further production.

Due to the analyses, the height of the tiller, the length of the spike and the number of spikelets per spike gave better results by sowing in wider rows (37.5 and 50 cm) using lower seed rate (9 and 16 kg ha(-1)). Seed yield and harvest index responded favourably to sowing in rows at a wider row spacing (37.5 and 50 cm) in combination with a lower seed rate (9 and 16 kg ha(-1)), while shoot dry weight gave better results by sowing in narrower rows (12.5 cm) with lower seed rate (9 and 16 kg ha(-1)). Using the appropriate row spacing in sowing and the optimum of seed rate provides the highest results of the production characteristics of the perennial ryegrass that can be applied to further production.",

AB  - The soybean harvest in 2019 began at the end of August. The quality of the natural seed was very high. The moisture content of the harvested seeds ranged from 7.1 % to 14.1 %. Thanks to this humidity, there was no need to dry the seeds, which is very important given the fact that drying soybeans can reduce the quality. Seed germination ranged between 82 % and 96 %. It should be noted that 97 % of seeds were harvested with germination greater than 85 % while about 65 % of seeds had germination above 90 %. The weight of 1000 grains averaged about 160 g. Soybean seed processing started on time and without major problems. The purity of the processed seed was on average 99.4 %. Of the total amount of processed seeds, about 72 % of seeds had germination greater than 85 %. The achieved seed quality was better compared to the one in 2018.
AB  - Iako su proizvodnju soje u 2019. godini pratili brojni problemi, na kraju možemo da kažemo da je bila uspešna kako po zasejanim površinama tako i po ostvarenom prinosu. Žetva soje započela je krajem avgusta. Prijem semena u doradnim centrima obavljen je bez većih problema zahvaljujući dobro pripremljenoj opremi i dobroj organizaciji prijema semena. Kvalitet naturalnog semena bio je veoma dobar sa zanemarljivo malim prisustvom zelenih i nedozrelih zrna. Vlažnost požnjevenog semena bila je u rasponu od 7,1% do 14,1% dok je oko 65% semena zaprimljeno sa vlažnošću iznad 10%. Zahvaljujući ovakvoj vlažnosti, nije bilo potrebe za sušenjem semena što je jako važno s obzirom na činjenicu da se sušenjem soje kvalitet može smanjiti. Klijavost semena, kao najvažniji parametar kvaliteta, bila je u rasponu između 82% i 96%. Treba istaći da je 97% semena požnjeveno sa klijavošću većom od 85% dok je oko 65% semena imalo klijavost iznad 90%. Masa 1000 zrna u proseku je iznosila oko 160 g. Na osnovu zaprimljenih količina semena u doradnim centrima može se reći da će količina semena nakon dorade biti dovoljna za setvu soje u 2020. godini. Dorada semena soje počela je na vreme i bez većih problema. Ostvarena čistoća dorađenog semena bila je u proseku 99,4%. Od ukupne količine dorađenog semena oko 72% semena imalo je klijavost veću od 85%, dok je oko 50% semena imalo klijavost iznad 90%. Ostvareni kvalitet semena bio je bolji u odnosu na 2018. godinu.

Effects of long-term fertilization on yield of siderates and organic matter content of soil in the process of recultivation

AB  - The aim of this research was to determine the possibility of increasing organic matter content in humusless deposol topsoil and forming of a more favourable adsorptive complex by introducing green manure. Green manure biomass came from these compound plant species: winter rye + common vetch, forage pea + rapeseed mustard and Sudan grass. Compound feed was sown on degraded soil (type deposol) of the Stanari coal mine. Applied cultivation practices included primary and secondary tillage and additional plant nutrition. Mineral fertilizers were applied: NPK 7:20:30 (400 kg ha(-1)) and CAN 27% (200 kg ha(-1)). One of the treatments included addition of bentonite clay as absorbent of nutrients. During intensive vegetation the growth of the green biomass was measured, the crops were harvested, cut and ploughed in deposol topsoil. Organic matter content in deposol was determined when soil samples were taken 6 months after green manure incorporation. The results show that the mineral fertilization of siderates significantly increased green biomass yield and Sudan grass gave two cuts, which positively affected the increase of organic matter content in soil.

AB  - Compared to the 2016 growing season, in which the record soybean production was achieved owing to exceptional environmental conditions, the 2017 growing season cannot be considered favourable to soybean seed production. The start of the 2017 growing season was marked by heavy rainfall and the air temperature levels at a multi-year average. Conversely, dry weather with high air temperatures at the time of pod formation and subsequent seed filling had a negative effect on yield formation, resulting in an average soybean yield of about 1.5 t/ha, i.e. more than 50 % lower than the yield obtained in 2016. The 2017 soybean harvest started in late August and ended during September. The seed moisture recorded in post-harvest seeds ranged from 7.1 % to 13.9 %. Seed germination ability was found to be greater than 85 % in most of the post-harvest seeds. Soybean seed processing has been carried out in a timely manner, without major disturbances.
AB  - Za razliku od rekordne proizvodnje soje u 2016. godini, koju su pratili izuzetno povoljni klimatski uslovi spoljne sredine, za 2017. ne može se reći da je pogodovala proizvodnji ove biljne vrste. Zbog veoma hladnog i kišnog proleća, period klijanja i nicanja značajno je produžen, međutim, zahvaljujući kvalitetnom semenu, usevi su dobro ponikli, pri čemu su ostvareni željeni sklopovi. Početak vegetacionog perioda obeležen je obilnijim padavinama i temperaturom vazduha koja je bila na nivou višegodišnjeg proseka. Međutim, period formiranja mahuna i kasnije nalivanja semena (kritični period) bio je sušan i praćen visokim temperaturama vazduha, što je imalo negativne posledice po formiranje prinosa. Zbog toga je ostvareni prosečni prinos soje od oko 1,5 t/ha bio manji za više od 50% u odnosu na 2016. godinu. Žetva soje započela je krajem avgusta meseca, a ovaj posao završen je tokom septembra. Vlažnost požnjevenog semena bila je u rasponu od 7,1% do 13,9%. Ipak, najveći deo semena zaprimljen je u doranim centrima sa vlažnošću između 9% i 12%, što je jako važno s obzirom na mehaničke osobine semena soje. Najveći deo semena požnjeven je sa klijavošću većom od 85%. Na kraju, može se zaključiti da je ostvareni kvalitet naturalnog semena dobar, a da će požnjevena količina semena nakon dorade biti dovoljna za setvu soje u 2018. godini. Dorada semena soje počela je na vreme i bez većih problema. Prve analize kvaliteta dorađenog semena potvrđuju očekivanja da će proizvođači soje ove godine imati na raspolaganju kvalitetno seme.

Evaluation of stability in new early-maturing sunflower hybrids

AB  - Sunflower is one of the most important oil crops in Serbia and in the world. The breeding process involved the selection of the medium-early maturity hybrids which had the tendency to maximize yield potential and stability in different regions of sunflower production in Serbia. The objective of this study was to test the possibility of using early-maturing hybrids instead of the mediummaturing ones, given the balance between yield and stability parameters. Three new early-maturing sunflower hybrids NS1, NS2 and NS3, developed at the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops, Novi Sad, were used in the study. There was no significant variation between early-maturing hybrids and standard hybrids for seed and oil yield. Results showed that early-maturing, high yielding hybrids were suitable for the cropping system in all tested locations. The early-maturing hybrids NS2 and NS3 are recommended for further inclusion in the breeding program due to their stability and high seed and oil yield. The entire sunflower breeding program contributed to the development of the local early-maturing hybrids and hybrids with better yield potential.
AB  - Suncokret je najvažnija uljana kultura u Srbiji. Glavni ciljevi oplemenjivanja suncokreta su stvaranje srednje ranih hibrida sa visokim genetskim potencijalom za prinos semena i ulja, a stabilnim u regionima proizvodnje suncokreta u Srbiji. Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je da se ispita mogućnost korišćenja ranostasnih hibrida umesto hibrida srednje dužine vegetacije, koji su u pogledu prinosa semena i ulja i parametara stabilnosti na nivou standardnih hibrida suncokreta. U radu su ispitana tri nova ranostasna hibrida suncokreta NS1, NS2 i NS3, stvorena u Institutu za ratarstvo i povrtarstvo, Novi Sad. Na osnovu dobijenih rezultata utvrđeno je da nije bilo značajne razlike između ranih hibrida i standardnih hibrida suncokreta za prinos semena i ulja. Rani hibridi suncokreta pokazali su različit nivo stabilnosti gajenja u ispitivanim lokalitetima. Rani hibridi NS2 i NS3 su pokazali visok stepen stabilnosti na svim ispitivanim lokalitetima i visoke prinose semena i ulja. Dobijeni rezultati predstavljaju značajan doprinos u oplemenjivanju suncokreta i razvoju domaćih hibrida sa kraćom dužinom vegetacije, a boljim potencijalom prinosa semena i ulja.

The breeding process involved the selection of the medium-early maturity hybrids which had the tendency to maximize yield potential and stability in different regions of sunflower production in Serbia. The objective of this study was to test the possibility of using early-maturing hybrids instead of the mediummaturing ones, given the balance between yield and stability parameters. Three new early-maturing sunflower hybrids NS1, NS2 and NS3, developed at the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops, Novi Sad, were used in the study. Results showed that early-maturing, high yielding hybrids were suitable for the cropping system in all tested locations. The early-maturing hybrids NS2 and NS3 are recommended for further inclusion in the breeding program due to their stability and high seed and oil yield. The entire sunflower breeding program contributed to the development of the local early-maturing hybrids and hybrids with better yield potential., Suncokret je najvažnija uljana kultura u Srbiji. Glavni ciljevi oplemenjivanja suncokreta su stvaranje srednje ranih hibrida sa visokim genetskim potencijalom za prinos semena i ulja, a stabilnim u regionima proizvodnje suncokreta u Srbiji. Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je da se ispita mogućnost korišćenja ranostasnih hibrida umesto hibrida srednje dužine vegetacije, koji su u pogledu prinosa semena i ulja i parametara stabilnosti na nivou standardnih hibrida suncokreta. U radu su ispitana tri nova ranostasna hibrida suncokreta NS1, NS2 i NS3, stvorena u Institutu za ratarstvo i povrtarstvo, Novi Sad. Na osnovu dobijenih rezultata utvrđeno je da nije bilo značajne razlike između ranih hibrida i standardnih hibrida suncokreta za prinos semena i ulja. Rani hibridi suncokreta pokazali su različit nivo stabilnosti gajenja u ispitivanim lokalitetima. Rani hibridi NS2 i NS3 su pokazali visok stepen stabilnosti na svim ispitivanim lokalitetima i visoke prinose semena i ulja. AB  - Soybean seed size can have a major effect on the quality of seeds. Beside the effect that seed size has on 1000-grain weight, it can also affect other seed quality parameters. Some authors suggest it can be expected that larger seeds have better quality. Seeds with higher content of reserve nutrients provide better developed plants, so it is possible to expect higher yields. Since the soybean seed does not have the minimum dimension of certified seed prescribed by law, it is necessary to examine the minimum size of seed that gives good enough results at planting, growth and development of plants. On the basis of these indicators, set up of cleaners and selection of work sieves cleaners during processing of soybean seed should be accessed. Soybean has a roundish shape, so it is possible to calibrate by a simple procedure using sieves of different sizes and openings. The effect of certain sizes on the soybean seed germination and initial growth of seedlings of varieties which are characterized by different seed sizes was tested in this work. On that occasion the varieties Balkan, Victoria and Trijumf, which were developed at the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Novi Sad were used. Dry matter content in the plant was used as an indicator of initial seedling growth. It was found that the dry matter content of seedlings increases with larger sizes, compared to dry matter content of smaller sizes. Thus, the lowest value was recorded in the variety Trijumf, for the size of 4.0 to 4.5 mm 4.7 g, while the highest value was recorded also in the variety Trijumf for the size of 6.0 to 6.5 mm 8.1 g. In addition, it was observed that the germination of seed of different sizes has different values. The lowest values were recorded in Balkan variety for the size of 4.0 to 4.5 mm 64%, while the highest germination was recorded in the variety Victoria for the size of 5.5 to 6.0 mm 85%.
AB  - Krupnoća semena soje može da ima veliki uticaj na kvalitet semena. Pored toga što veličina zrna utiče na masu hiljadu zrna, takođe može da utiče i na druge parametere kvaliteta semena. Literaturni izvori navode na zaključak da se može očekivati da je krupnije seme kvalitetnije. Seme sa većim sadržajem rezervnih hranljivih materija daje razvijeniju biljku pa je moguće očekivati i veće prinose. S obzirom da kod semena soje nije zakonom propisana minimalna dimenzija deklarisanog semena, potrebno je ispitati koja minimalna dimenzija semena daje dovoljno dobre rezultate u setvi, porastu i razvoju biljke. Na osnovu tih pokazatelja bi trebalo pristupiti podešavanju prečistača i odabiru radnih sita prečistača tokom dorade semena soje. Seme soje ima okruglast oblik pa je moguće kalibraciju uraditi jednostavnim postupkom pomoću sita različitih dimenzija i otvora. U radu je ispitan uticaj određenih frakcija na klijavost semena soje i početnog porasta ponika za sorte koje se karakterišu različitom krupnoćom zrna. Tom prilikom su korišćene sorte Balkan, Victoria i Trijumf, koje su stvorene u Institutu za ratarstvo i povrtarstvo iz Novog Sada. Kao pokazatelj početnog porasta ponika korišćen je sadržaj suve materije u biljci. Utvrđeno je da se sadržaj suve materije ponika povećava kod krupnijih frakcija u odnosu na sadržaj suve materije kod sitnijih frakcija.Tako je najmanja vrednost zabeležena kod sorte Trijumf za frakciju 4,0-4,5 mm od 4,7 g, dok je najveća vrednost zabeležena takođe kod sorte Trijumf za frakciju 6,0-6,5 mm od 8,1g. AB  - Knowledge of mechanical properties of agricultural materials is important for designing and exploitation of agricultural machines and equipment, as well as for successful preservation of biological values of seed during drying, processing and storage. As the shape of soybean seeds is generally round, they can be graded by a simple procedure, using different sieve settings. In this study we assessed the impact of seed grade on the mechanical properties of seed of the soybean varieties which differed in seed size. The initial tangent modulus of elasticity and maximum rupture force were used as indices of mechanical properties of seed, and they were discussed in detail in the paper. The values of the initial tangent modulus of elasticity went down as seed size increased. The lowest value, 9.26 N/mm2, was recorded for grade 6.0 to 6.5 mm in the variety Balkan. The highest value, 18.84 N/mm2, was recorded for grade 4.0 to 4.5 mm in the variety Victoria. Unlike the values of the initial tangent modulus of elasticity, the values of maximum rupture force increased in proportion with increase in seed size. The highest value, 176.18 N, was recorded for grade 5.5 to 6.0 mm in the variety Victoria, and the lowest value, 92.15 N, was recorded for grade 4.0 to 4.5 mm in the variety Balkan. .
AB  - Poznavanje mehaničkih osobina poljoprivrednih materijala je veoma važno prilikom konstruisanja i eksploatacije poljoprivrednih mašina i opreme ali je neophodno i za očuvanje bioloških vrednosti semena prilikom sušenja, skladištenja i procesa dorade. Seme soje na osnovu fizičkih osobina ima okruglast oblik pa je moguće kalibraciju uraditi jednostavnim postupkom pomoću sita raznih dimenzija i otvora. U radu je ispitan uticaj frakcija na mehaničke osobine semena soje za sorte koje se karakterišu različitom krupnoćom zrna. Kao pokazatelji mehaničkih osobina semena korišćeni su početni tangentni modul elastičnosti i maksimalna sila razaranja koji su detaljno prikazani u radu. Vrednosti početnog tangentnog modula elastičnosti su sa povećanjem dimenzije zrna imale manje vrednosti. AB  - In our processing centre there are several storage types for soybean seed storage and it is very important to know which storage type exerts the most significant influence on seed quality, i.e. which storage type is appropriate for seed storage. This matter is most important for soybean because soybean seed is very difficult for storage. Six types of storage of soybean seed prior to processing were investigated (ground storage, storage with concrete cell, storage with metal cell, storage with 'Kongskilde' cell, seed storage in large transport, 'jambo' bags, and control, soybean seed processed directly after harvesting). Obtained results revealed that there were differences in quality of processed soybean seed depending on the storage type. Also, the influence of moisture content of harvested seed on quality of processed seed was observed, and higher influence was noticed in seed with low moisture. .
AB  - S obzirom da u našim doradnim centrima postoji nekoliko tipova skladišta u kojima se čuva seme soje pre dorade, neophodno je poznavati koji tipovi skladišta utiču više ili manje na kvalitet semena, odnosno koja su skladišta povoljna za čuvanje semena. Ovo pitanje je od izuzetnog značaja kod soje jer je poznato da ona spada u grupu biljaka čije se seme veoma teško čuva. Istraživanje je obuhvatilo šest tipova skladištenja semena soje pre dorade (podni magacin, skladište sa betonskim ćelijama, skladište sa metalnim ćelijama, skladište sa 'Kongskilde' ćelijama, seme skladišteno u velike transportne, 'džambo', vreće), kao i kontrolu, odnosno seme soje koje je odmah posle žetve dorađivano. Dobijeni rezultati ukazuju na postojanje razlike u kvalitetu dorađenog semena soje, u zavisnosti od tipa skladištenja pre dorade. Takođe je ispitivan i uticaj sadržaja vlage u semenu soje prilikom žetve na kvalitet dorađenog semena, pri čemu je utvrđen veći uticaj kod semena sa nižom vlažnošću. .

abstract = "In our processing centre there are several storage types for soybean seed storage and it is very important to know which storage type exerts the most significant influence on seed quality, i.e. which storage type is appropriate for seed storage. This matter is most important for soybean because soybean seed is very difficult for storage. Six types of storage of soybean seed prior to processing were investigated (ground storage, storage with concrete cell, storage with metal cell, storage with 'Kongskilde' cell, seed storage in large transport, 'jambo' bags, and control, soybean seed processed directly after harvesting).
