AB - Bradyrhizobium japonicum bacteria on the intensity of nodulation during nine phenophases (R1-R7) in relation to the isoflavone content in soybean seeds. Nine domestic soybean varieties were sown in three replicates, with Bradyrhizobium japonicum inoculated and non-inoculated seeds. The different morphological characteristics of nodules, the number and mass of nodules were studied during plants’ ontogenesis. The content of individual isoflavones in the sowing seed material was determined using high performance liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS). The most abundant isoflavone was acetylgenistin in the variety Galeb (2741.4 μg/g), and the highest content of all isoflavones was recorded in the variety Gorštak (8117.7 μg/g). The variety Sava of the inoculated treatment exhibited the highest average values of the nodule mass (21.1 mg) and the highest number of nodules (23.3) in the phenophase, in which 10% of pods reached full length (R4). The average values of mass and number of nodules were calculated for the entire vegetation period, being higher in the inoculated treatment. There was no positive correlation between the content of isoflavones in seeds and the number and mass of nodules. The impact of quantity of isoflavone on nodulation intensity in soybeans was not significant,, which could be related to already saturated soil with nitrogen-fixing bacteria.

AB - Sugar beet—Beta vulgaris L. is the second largest sugar-producing crops, after sugarcane, accounting around 40% of total global sugar output in world. The largest areas are in Europe. It is grown for sugar and many different products. In recent times, more and more people are talking about the importance of sugar beet, as a fodder plant, but also as a plant for biofuel production. Sugar beet yield and quality are determined by genotype and environment. In this study, the state and analysis of the production of the sugar beet crop and influence of factors during the crop growth is studied. The main factor influencing the crop yield and bioethanol yield is the weather variability, then climate change. Irrigation in semi-arid countries, fertilizer and crop management have great importance on the yield. The objective of the current study was thus to analyze the components productivity of sugar beet, in the world and in Serbia, and to show the influence of meteorological conditions and of cultivation technology on the success of production. World sugar production in the 2021/2022 market year had a surplus of 10 million tons and was higher by 3%, due to increased production in India, the EU and Thailand. Higher consumption of this culture is expected in the coming period. Biggest drivers of this growth are India, China, the Philippines and the European Union. In Serbia, in 2022 sugar beet was sown on 39,411 ha. Compared to the ten-year average, this is 26% less. The average yield of sugar beet in the world for the five-year period amounted to 59,151 ha and varied from 60,766 ha, in 2022, to 57,104 ha, in 2018. In Serbia the average yield was 51,285 t/ha, and varied from 48,005 t/ha in 2022, to 54,193 t/ha in 2019. In Serbia, increasing of areas under sugar beet and increasing of yield is predicted. It can be concluded that sugar beet is a very important farming plant both in the world and in Serbia.

AB - Composting of mixed medicinal plant waste was performed with the addition of mixture of plant growth promoting bacteria (PGPB), including Streptomyces sp., Paenybacillus sp., Bacillus sp., and Hymenobacter sp., and portions of spent coffee grounds (SCG). To assess the maturity and quality parameters of the compost, chemical and biological parameters (C/N ratio, loss of organic matter, CO2 production, dehydrogenase activity (DHA), and phytotoxicity) were evaluated during the three months of the composting process. The results revealed that the control sample (without the addition of SCG and PGPB) had evidently lower values of DHA during the entire monitoring period in comparison to other samples, indicating lower microbial activity in the compost mixture. Also, according to the released CO2, the composting process was accelerated in all samples where the SCG and PGPB were added, enabling a reduction in time needed for mixed plant waste to decompose. The germination index (GI) of the tested seeds indicated that the produced compost was acceptable and safe, with regard to all of the evaluated samples. However, at the end of the process the samples contained SCG and PGPB, which caused an increase of more than 50% of the GI in comparison to the control sample, expressing a high phyto-stimulant effect and improving the biofertilization impact.

AB - In the previous period, research was carried out with a focus on the application of various types of microbiological preparations in order to influence their possible influence on the morphological, productive and qualitative properties of industrial plants. Research was conducted in the period from 2015 to 2023 both in the open field and in laboratory conditions. In the group of industrial plants, oil, protein, medicinal, aromatic and spice plants were investigated. This paper shows the influence of certain biopreparations on the treatment of organic soybean seeds before sowing and during cultivation. For that purpose, mixtures of microbiological strains (Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus licheniformis, Bacillus simplex, Bacillus amiloliquefaciens, Bacillus pumilus, Bacillus megatherium, Bradyrhizobium japonicum and Azotobacter chroococum) were used, with the addition of liquid fertilizers of plant origin enriched with K, Ca and Mg. The use of microbiological strains in the cultivation of organic soybeans has a significant effect on increasing the content of proteins and vegetable oils in soybeans, as well as on the values of morphological parameters and yield in the crop of organically produced soybeans. Microbiological preparations have the potential to contribute to the development of sustainable agricultural systems. The use of selected microbiological cultures for treatment during the inoculation of soil and seeds in the cultivation of industrial plants is reflected in the improvement of the nutritional and functional properties of plants, which are an excellent source of valuable food ingredients.

AB - For agricultural production is used almost 40% of the global land from where it dominates conventional agriculture which uses large amounts of inputs in the form of fertilizers and pesticides leading to the contamination of soil, water resources, air pollution and land erosion, affects biodiversity and extinction of many plants and animals. On the other hand, the world's population is constantly growing and currently numbers more than 8 billion people and it is estimated that food production will have to double by 2050. In order to meet the future needs of the population for food raw materials, food production must significantly increase, and at the same time, the impact of agriculture on the environment and natural resources must be drastically reduced. Sustainable agriculture is emerging as one of the solutions. This way of agricultural practice refers to the management and preservation of natural resources through organizational and technological changes in modern agricultural production in order to satisfy human needs and preserve the environment. One of the most important natural resources on which the entire agricultural production relies is land. In intensively cultivated lands, there is a noticeable trend of intense degradation, which represents a major problem facing humanity. The paper reviews the decrease in soil fertility based on the samples collected during the five-year monitoring, as well as a proposal for measures to increase fertility and future preservation of this environmental resource.

AB - The paper presents the results of the gross margin of three lines of production of medicinal herbs: mint, lemon balm and marshmallow. The importance of improving the production of these herbs has been presented in the form of gross margins. All three herb species achieved the highest gross margins in 2023, which was the criterion for choosing them for the research. The structure and participation of individual variable costs for all three production lines has been presented in relation to total variable costs. A sensitivity analysis was performed, in order to study the impact of price and yield changes (10% and 20% increase and decrease in all three production lines, and the impact of changes in the two largest costs for each production line, 10% and 20% increase and decrease in costs). Based on all the analyses, it can be concluded that the production of mint, lemon balm and marshmallow is very profitable, where around EUR 4,000–EUR 7,500 per ha of profits can be achieved.

AB - The paper examined the influence of a plant preparation = broth based on yarrow to reduce the intensity of infection of pot marigold leaf powdery mildew (Podosphaera xanthii (Castagne) U. Braun & Shishkoff.). The goal of the work arose from the need for a solution to one of the most economically significant diseases of pot marigold (Calendula officinalis L. cv. "Domaći oranž"). This disease is caused by the fungus Podosphaera xanthii (Castagne) U. Braun & Shishkoff., which occurs during the cultivation of pot marigold. The location of the research was the collection of the Institute for Medicinal Plants Research "Dr. Josif Pančić" located in Pančevo (44°52'20"N; 20°42'06"E; 74 m.a.s.l.). The experiments were conducted during the growing season in 2022, on the soil of the humogley (black soil), according to a random block system in four repetitions. The size of the plot was 5.0 m2 (2 x 2.5 m), and the effect of the broth based on yarrow was evaluated according to a scale from 1 to 5 of the presence of disease on the pot marigold leaf. The plants were treated with this preparation in three variants: The first variant - one treatment at the beginning of the disease, the second variant - at the beginning and two weeks after the disease and the third variant - at the beginning, after two weeks and four weeks after the disease. The fourth variant was a control variant, i.e. a variant without the use of broth. During the last treatment, an evaluation of the plants' infection with powdery mildew was made. In the tests, number 1 represented the least sensitivity, and number 5 the most sensitive variant of this disease. After the evaluation of the infection of plants with powdery mildew, the best results were shown by the third variant with the least presence of powdery mildew (on average 1.8 i.p.), the second variant in second place, the first in third place and the control variant in fourth place with the highest presence examined diseases (on average 4.0 i. p.).

AB - The demand for organic food shows a growing trend due to the increased awareness of the importance of regular consumption of healthy food on human health. Organic food products have certificates because they are produced according to organic standards. The use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides and genetic modification is not allowed in organic production. Many studies point to differences in favor of organic foods, including indications of beneficial health effects. The aim of this study was to present the impact of organic food consumption on human health. Organic food of biological origin is characterized by the absence or presence of traces of pesticides, a low content of nitrates and an increased content of polyphenols, iron, magnesium and vitamin C. Organic products of animal origin contain healthy unsaturated fatty acids. Organic dairy products have a higher content of protein and saturated fatty acids than conventional products. Regular consumption of organic fruits and vegetables and dairy products reduces the risk of preeclampsia in pregnancy, reduction in obesity and body mass index (BMI), and non-Hodgkin lymphoma in women and (NHL) and colorectal cancers. The positive effect on health is the result of a reduced amount of pesticide residues and an increased intake of secondary plant metabolites that characterize organic food. Further research is needed to confirm the trends observed in existing data and clarify the exact relationships between agricultural management, diet quality and impact on health.

AB - The adoption of advanced agricultural practices in Serbia represents a significant leap towards sustainability in the sector. Through precision nitrogen fertilization and reduced tillage, a notable 32% enhancement in energy efficiency within cropping systems is feasible, reducing energy consumption per unit of food produced from 5 GJ to 3.4 GJ per hectare, alongside a tangible decrease in greenhouse gas emissions, thus bolstering efforts to combat climate change. Embracing these integrated techniques in Serbia and beyond holds promise in addressing the imperative to augment agricultural productivity while safeguarding ecological balance, amid projections of global mineral fertilizer consumption reaching 200 million tons by 2025. Advocating for the adoption of organic fertilizers in tandem with precision agriculture technologies offers further potential for mitigating adverse environmental impacts, bolstering soil health, biodiversity, and optimizing resource allocation. Moreover, these practices can lead to significant economic efficiency gains, reducing production costs and increasing overall profitability in agricultural operations. Additionally, investing in sustainable agriculture can create new job opportunities and stimulate economic growth in rural areas. Energy efficiency emerges as a cornerstone in modern agriculture, with the transition to integrated and low-intensity farming systems poised to slash energy usage by over 60%, making a significant contribution to overall energy conservation. Achieving these objectives necessitates a thorough assessment of existing agricultural practices in Serbia, alongside collaborative efforts from governmental bodies, agricultural experts, and farmers, underpinned by adequate funding and training. With the right approach and support, Serbia has the potential to emerge as a regional leader in sustainable agriculture, charting a path towards a productive, environmentally conscious, and economically resilient future.

AB - Black oat grain - Avena strigosa Schreb. is on the list of 20 healthiest products. It is desirable in the diet because it has a lower proportion of carbohydrates and is rich in proteins (up to 15%, where the amino acid lysine dominates), then oils, cellulose, minerals and vitamins and can provide great health benefits. The oil content in oat seeds reaches up to 10%, depending on the location and tested year. The following fatty acids dominate in the seed: linoleic (45%), oleic (30%), palmitic (20%), stearic (6%), linoleic (6%) and myristic (4%) acids. Black oats are also a forage crop used for cover cropping, weed control and nematode control. Allelopathic compounds released through the oats roots inhibit weed growth. It produces a large amount of biomass that decomposes quickly, and returns valuable nutrients and organic particles back to the soil. Although the grain of black oats has excellent nutritional value, this species is less cultivated in the world and in our country. This study aims to test black oats and examine its morphological and productive properties at the Bački Petrovac location. An experiment with two populations: G1- black oats - "crni" and G2- "rutavi" oat, was set up in three repetitions on the plots of the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Bački Petrovac, in 2023. Sowing was done in April and harvesting was done at the technological maturity of the crop, when plants from each repetition were taken for analysis: plant height, plant height to panicle, root length, plant weight, grain weight and number of grains per plant. Genotype had a significant effect on grain yield per plant and yield components. G2 - "Rutavi" oats had statistically significantly higher values for plant height (145 cm) and plant height to panicle (125 cm) compared to G1- black oats (108 cm and 90 cm). Black oats had higher values for root length (8), plant weight (9 g), grain weight (3 g) and number of grains (95) compared to G2 (6; 5 g; 1.2 g; 65). The results show that black oats can be successfully grown in Bačka region in Vojvodina. Eating oats helps prevent some diseases: digestion, insomnia, anxiety, depression, nervousness, hoarseness, arteriosclerosis, dermatitis and some forms of cancer, lowers cholesterol, blood sugar and high blood pressure.

AB - Linseed (Linum usitatissimum L.) is of great importance for health due to the content of a-linolenic acid (w-3) in linseed oil. Regular consumption of linseed and w-3 fatty acids can influence the prevent the occurrence of certain types of cancer, then the occurrence of stroke, some autoimmune and cardiovascular diseases, reduce bad cholesterol, diabetes, cough, etc. Linseed is also a laxative, commonly used to improve digestive health or relieve constipation. The aim of the study was to determine the influence of genotypes on the development of productivity variables: plant mass, plant height, height to the first a flax cocoon, number of grains in one a flax cocoon, number of grains per plants, 1000 grains mass, and grain yield of plants of two varieties of flax, NS Marko and NS Primus, golden and brown seed colors. The brown variety had a more values for plant height and plant mass compared to the golden variety, on the other hand, the golden variety shows a higher number of grains per capsule and a higher grain yield compared to the brown variety. Varieties NS Marko and NS Primus achieved high grain yields. The production of linseed is justified because seed has great nutritional advantages. Regular consumption of linseed in the diet is recommended in order to preserve health.

Preporučuje se redovno konzumiranje lana u ishrani u cilju očuvanja zdravlja., Linseed (Linum usitatissimum L.) is of great importance for health due to the content of a-linolenic acid (w-3) in linseed oil. Regular consumption of linseed in the diet is recommended in order to preserve health.",

AB - In recent years many countries direct their researches to finding the best way for getting energy and reasonable using of renewable energy as part of circular economy. In research it was analyzed a significant source of all forms of energy, the Spanish cane. Spanish cane can be used on many ways: as biogas, vegetable coal, and as an alternative source of plant fibers. Its cellulose fiber is used for production of paper as well as in the textile industry (substitute for cotton, flax, and kenaf fibers). The Spanish cane can be established as perennial grass areas at degraded and unused land due to its ability to be cultivated in marginal agro-ecological conditions. By development of new technologies for the biological waste processing into energy, within the circular economy, there is increase in the alternative fuel use and, thanks to its low requirements for water and warmth Spanish cane is a desirable energy crop. Speaking of erosion, it has to be mentioned that Spanish cane is one of the best crops for soil protection against all types of erosion. It is also very good in phytoremediation and absorption of harmful gases from the atmosphere, valued in as an ornamental plant and in the construction industry.

AB - In all developed countries, an efficient livestock and cattle production sector is required to ensure a consistent supply of high-quality food. According to recent publications, the global livestock business accounts for 14.5% of total anthropogenic emissions, with the cattle sector contributing to 65%. Although it contributes to total emissions, the livestock sector has the potential to mitigate climate change by 14% to 41%. It is important to emphasize that the animal production sector is critical to food production, which is essential to human survival. However, the reliability of these estimations is frequently called into question. There is currently a particularly active campaign against the livestock and cattle production sectors, and it is critical to identify the interest groups behind it and their reasons. The issue must be asked: would there be a drive for artificial or vegan “meat” if there was no intense campaign against livestock farming as the claimed cause of climate change?

AB - The purpose of this study was to look into how the breed (Holstein or Simmental) and breeding region (Central, Eastern, and Mediterranean) influence the occurrence of subclinical mastitis and its impact on milk production. In order to do this, the study examined 3,953,637 test-day records of Holstein cows and 4,922,751 test-day records of Simmental cows. The daily lactose content was utilized to diagnose subclinical mastitis. The study’s findings showed that subclinical mastitis rates varied significantly depending on the breed and breeding location. The Eastern region’s Holstein cows were the least common. On the test-day, when subclinical mastitis was found in all regions and breeds, the lowest daily milk output was also noted. Subsequent milk records, however, revealed an increase in milk output that differed according to breed and breeding location. The Holstein cows from the Eastern region showed the largest overall increase in milk production. According to these results, healing potential differs greatly depending on the breed and breeding area. Eastern region farms raised Holstein cows, who had the lowest rate of mastitis-related problems and the best likelihood of recuperating and reaching their genetic output potential. As a result, this study implies that dairy cows that are reared at the large, specialized dairy farms that are common in the Eastern region recover more quickly.

AB - Maize (Zea mays L.) is the most important silage crop due to its low buffer
capacity, high amount of dry matter and optimal concentration of soluble
carbohydrates. Silage of maize is a process of anaerobic preservation by lactic
acid fermentation, which reduces the possibility of loss of nutrients from harvest to consumption of animal feed. By silage maize, they try to preserve and maintain for a longer time the nutrients of the maize fresh biomass, without significant changes. In this study, the following maize hybrids were examined: H1- AS 160, H2- Pionir 1535 and H3- NS 6000. The quality of the green biomass of the examined maize hybrids was analyzed: content of protein, content of water and percentage of dry matter. The test results show that the percentage of crude proteins in the examined sample was the highest (2.72%) in hybrid H1, a slightly lower percentage (2.66%) in H2, and the lowest percentage of crude proteins was measured in hybrid H3. The percentage of dry matter in the tested sample was the highest (36.56%) in the NS 640 hybrid, slightly lower (35.05%) in the percentage in the AS 160 hybrid, and the lowest (33.80%) crude protein percentage was measured in the Pionir hybrid 1535. The percentage of moisture in the tested sample was the highest (66.20%) in H2, the slightly lower (64.95%) percentage of moisture was in hybrid H1, and the lowest (63.44%) percentage of moisture was measured in hybrid H3. Different hybrids have different levels of various maize plant components' quality. The results show that the hybrid had a significant impact on the examined quality parameters.

U ovoj studiji su ispitivani prinosi sorti: prosa (Biserka i Rumenka), heljde (Novosadska), sirka za zrno (Alba i Gold), sirka metlas a (Prima i Reform), konoplje (Helena i Marina), facelije (NS Priora), uljanog lana (NS Primus i NS Marko) i uljane tikve (Olivija i Olinka).

AB - The number, activity and diversity of microorganisms define the level of biogenicity and indicate the
quality and health of the soil. The abundance and structure of microbial communities vary in different types of
soils, so in order to preserve and protect natural and agroecological systems, in addition to physical-chemical
analyses, monitoring of dynamics of microbiological activity in agricultural and non-agricultural soil is also
necessary. Each type of soil has its own characteristic micro biocenosis, and different methods of soil use can
have a positive or negative impact on microbiological activity, which directly affects the fertility of the soil. Soil
bacteria are very important in biogeochemical cycles, and biological nitrogen fixation plays an important role
in nitrogen cycling by transferring atmospheric dinitrogen into the soil. It is performed by symbiotic and
asymbiotic nitrogen-fixing microorganisms, called nitrogen fixators. Amonificators are bacteria that play a very
important role in soil ecosystem, as well as nitrogen fixators. This group of bacteria participates in the processes
of protein decomposition and transformation. The aim of the paper is to indicate, based on the presence of
nitrogen fixators and amonificators in soil under ashes, the biogenicity of this soil at four different localities:
pure ashes, soil under ashes covered with herbaceous vegetation, soil under ashes covered with wood vegetation and agricultural soil, and to give advice on future activities regarding recultivation of these types of soil under ashes. The results of the research showed that microorganisms are mostly represented in different numbers in the tested soils, which indicates variations on the soil biogenicity and quality.

AB - The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of age of cows on variability in mastitis prevalence risk and its concomitant impacts on their successive daily milk yield by analyzing test-day records of dairy cows collected in the period 2005–2022. The results obtained indicate a correlation between the age and breed of cows enrolled in the study and mastitis prevalence risk alongside its concomitant impacts on their successive daily
milk yield. The findings demonstrate a progressive increase in mastitis prevalence risk with the advancing age of cows, notably more pronounced in the Holstein breed than in the Simmental breed. The Simmental cows exhibited a lower increase in daily milk yield, experiencing a substantial decrease in overall yields (namely milk, fat, and protein) in
contrast to the Holstein cows. The primiparous cows of both breeds displayed the highest total increase in daily milk yield. This study underscores the significance of monitoring dairy herd health as a pivotal component of successful dairy herd management. Moreover, the daily lactose content was found a valuable and cost-effective indicator for ensuring the economically and environmentally sustainable operations of dairy farms.

AB - The aim of this work was to determine the nitrogen and phosphorus content in arable agricultural land on farms in the Republic of Serbia. The sampling of soils was carried out in 2020 with the recording of GPS coordinates and entering the obtained results into the software platform. The analysis of the nitrogen content (N) was determined by the Kotzman method and calculated from the humus on a sample of 30,957 plots, with an area of 19,629.24 ha. The phosphorus content (P2O5) was determined by extraction, whereby the easily soluble part of the phosphorus was transferred into a solution and colorimetrically determined in the resulting extract, on a sample of 28,944 plots with an area of 18,459.96 ha. The results obtained show that 64.59% of the area, i.e., 12,678.81 ha, had a good nitrogen content (0.2–0.1%). A very high phosphorus content (400.1–500.0 mg kg-1 of the area) was found on 27.68% of the area, which is 5,108.92 ha. On 15.34% of the plots where a harmful value was found, additional analyses should be carried out to determine the cause of such a high phosphorus content in the soil. Based on data on the content of total nitrogen and readily available phosphorus in the soil, the type and amount of fertilizer can be adequately selected, which can lead to a reduction in ecosystem pollution. The results in this study represent the basis for soil management, biodiversity protection and optimal planning of cultivation of arable, vegetable and fruit crops. The obtained results can help agricultural producers and other entities to increase the competitiveness of their production.

The obtained results can help agricultural producers and other entities to increase the competitiveness of their production.",

AB - The results of the study of the influence of fertilization and calcification on the yield and yield components of winter triticale grown on low pH soil are presented in this paper. Five variants of fertilization were tested during three growing seasons. Trial treatments included different fertilization variants: V1-control, V2-N120, V3-N120P80K60, V4-N120P80K60 + 5 t ha- 1 of lime and V5-N120P80K60 + 5 t ha-1 of lime + 30 t ha-1 of manure. The results of the research showed that all yield components responded positively to the application of mineral nutrition by changing the production characteristics and grain quality. The variant with the combined application of NPK, lime and manure had the greatest positive effect on all tested parameters affecting triticale productivity. During the study, the highest yield of triticale 5.826 t ha-1 was obtained on the fertilization variant with the combined application of lime, manure and NPK fertilizers. The achieved increase in the grain yield of triticale was significant compared to the control and the NPK variant of fertilization. Highly significant positive dependencies were found between the grain yield with 1000-grain weight, and test weight and significant positive dependencies were found between 1000-grain weight and test weight. The research highlighted the impact of different fertilizer treatments on the yield and grain quality traits of winter triticale.
