The influence of physical and chemical characteristics of the geological substrate have a significant role on the properties of the soil that is formed on a given substrate. The serpentine geological base is characterized by the presence of an increased amount of heavy metals in the soil. In serpentine soil, the amount of magnesium exceeds the amount of calcium. Such edaphic conditions of habitats impose and encourage the development of structural functional adaptations of plants serpentinophytes, which inhabit these habitats. It is represented on a limestone substrate, ultrabasic serpentines and on an acid silicate substrate. In response to adverse environmental conditions,
plants produce a large number of secondary metabolites whose chemical composition depends on different environmental conditions. Therefore, the results of the research showed that the examined species has mechanisms that enable survival in stressful environmental conditions, in terms of physical and chemical char...acteristics of the soil.
