Soybean and stress

Abstract

Stress may be defined as any factor that reduces yield performance under the maximum achievable level. The stresses that affect plants can be grouped in three categories: soil, atmospheric and biotic. Relationships among the factors that affect plants are complex and they cannot be viewed separately because they are invariably interactive. Other important aspects are the stage of plant growth and development when a stress strikes and its duration and intensity. Some stress factors are unforeseeable, unavoidable and uncontrollable. Still, most of them can be avoided or mitigated by cultural practices and other short- or long-term measures In the previous year, soybean suffered a series of stresses which lasted throughout the growing season, resulting in the average yield below the long-term average.

Stres može biti definisan kao bilo koji faktor koji smanjuje prinos ispod maksimalno dostižnog nivoa. Biljka je izložena stresovima koji se mogu grupisati u tri kategorije: zemljišni, atmosferski i bioticki. Odnosi između faktora koji utiču na biljku su kompleksni i ne mogu se posmatrati pojedinačno, jer uvek deluju interaktivno. Od velikog značaja je i faza porasta i razvića u kojoj će se dogoditi stres, kao i njegovo trajanje i intenzitet. Soja je tokom celog vegetacionog perioda u našim agroekološkim uslovima bila izložena čitavom nizu stresova, što za posledicu ima ostvarenje vrlo varijabilnog prinosa. Neki od stresnih faktora su nepredvidivi i neizbežni i na njih nije moguće uticati. Većinu je ipak moguće izbeći ili ublažiti odgovarajućim agrotehničkim ili drugim kratkoročnim ili dugoročnim merama.
