AB - Medicinal plants, about 10,000 species, are used in medicine to treat diseases or preserve human health because they are rich in the content of alkaloids, glycosides, resin, essential oils, etc. Phytopreparations are very important in the treatment of productive cough, both in self-medication and on the recommendation of health professionals. Medicinal preparations containing saponosides stimulate the glands to secrete bronchial secretions through a gastropulmonary reflex mechanism, which results in the production of rarer, watery mucus in the bronchial glands. They act on thick mucus as surfactants, reduce its viscosity and facilitate expectoration. Among triterpene saponosides used as expectorants, ivy leaf extract has proven therapeutic efficacy based on in vitro and in vivo studies. For other saponin expectorants (primrose root and flower, liquorice root (radix dulcis = sweet root), senega root, grindelia herb, common polypody rhizome), only the traditional application has been documented, which is confirmed by many studies. Due to the increased application, as well as the necessary confirmations of efficacy, there is a need for future research to analyze in more detail the pharmacological effects of triterpene saponins of expectorant action and their effect on the human organism.

AB - Mental illness affects millions of people around the world. Anxiety disorders are one of the most common mental disorders, occurring in 16.6% of the population around the world. Anxiety (anxietas-worry, fear, uneasiness) is a specific psychic state, characterized by an excessive manifestation of emotionality. It occurs under the influence of stress, which in interaction with the genetically innate level of emotional activity and reactivity, causes excessive manifestation of emotionality, which is manifested by excessive changes in the behavior and activation of the autonomic nervous system (dilation of pupils, tachycardia, sweating of the palms, respiratory disorder, GIT disorders, etc.). In mild and reversible forms of anxiety disorders, anxiety can be stimulating and productive. However, in strong forms, anxiety can hinder normal human activity for a long time, which requires therapy. In addition to pharmacological therapy, many herbal medicines have shown efficacy in the treatment of anxiety disorders, as therapeutic agents or in addition to therapy, which is confirmed by numerous scientific studies. Herbal preparations of Passiflora incarnata, Kava-Kava, St. John’s wort, valerian, chamomile, lemon balm, lavender are used for centuries in traditional medicine due to sedative effect and positive mood impact. Studies proving the usefulness of these herbal remedies and their extracts in the treatment of anxiety disorders have been gaining importance over the past several decades.

AB - Soybean is a plant species characterized by an extremely narrow genetic base, as a consequence of self-pollination, a long process of domestication and artificial selection. A key phase in maintaining diversity and successful utilization in breeding is the genetic and phenotypic characterization of accessions available in collections. Soybean collection in Maize Research Institute "Zemun Polje" maintains more than 500 accessions from different regions of the world. The aim of this study was to investigate the level of genetic variation in collection, through the sample of 90 soybean genotypes originated from 15 countries, classified in 5 geographical groups (DOM-Serbia, EUR-European, USA-North American, CAN- Canadian, EXO-China and Japan). Twenty SSR primer pairs were selected for the molecular analysis. To assess the genetic relations among accessions, cluster analysis employing UPGMA method was performed.
