AB - The influence of physical and chemical characteristics of the geological substrate have a significant role on the properties of the soil that is formed on a given substrate. The serpentine geological base is characterized by the presence of an increased amount of heavy metals in the soil. In serpentine soil, the amount of magnesium exceeds the amount of calcium. Such edaphic conditions of habitats impose and encourage the development of structural functional adaptations of plants serpentinophytes, which inhabit these habitats. It is represented on a limestone substrate, ultrabasic serpentines and on an acid silicate substrate. In response to adverse environmental conditions,
plants produce a large number of secondary metabolites whose chemical composition depends on different environmental conditions. Therefore, the results of the research showed that the examined species has mechanisms that enable survival in stressful environmental conditions, in terms of physical and chemical characteristics of the soil.

AB - Linseed - Linum usitatissimum L. is an important raw material for functional food and medicinal purposes due to its high content of α-linolenic acid (ALA, omega-3 fatty acid), lignans and fiber, in its seed and oil. Linseed or linseed oil аs а functional food ingredient, incorporated into baked foods, juices, milk and dairy products, muffins, cakes, pastries, dry pasta products and meat products for the purpose of sensory enhancer of taste and product quality. Linseed have various properties: antioxidant, immunomodulatory, antimicrobial, antiprotozoal, anti-inflammatory, insecticidal, analgesic, anti-hyperlipidemia, anti-hyperglycemic, antitumors and have effects on disease prevention: GI disorders, cardiovascular, urogenital and respiratory diseases.
Linseed have application in drug formulations. Because of the great importance of linseed, in this study, the productivity parameters of new genotypes of oil linseed: NS Primus and NS Marko are presented. Morphological productive parameters and quality parameters of the tested linseed varieties were tested: plant height, plant weight, number of seed per plants and grain yield. The experiments were carried out on the plots of the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in three repetitions and their aim was testing of stability and productivity of these genotype. Genotype had a
significant influence on the examined morpho-productive parameters. By applying the new, improved varietal production technology, we can successfully face the climate changes that are more and more present from year to year, and which certainly determine the direction of future development. The new genotypes of linseed have achieved excellent performance and are recommended for wider production both in
our country and in neighboring countries primarily due to the great technological importance of linseed products.

AB - Organic production has a significant impact on human health, animal, food security and environmental sustainability. Pesticide exposures from conventional production may lead to important diseases, such as Parkinson’s disease, diabetes, brains damage, especially in children and certain types of cancer. Epidemiological studies highlight adverse effects of certain pesticides on children’s cognitive development.
Use of pesticides in organic agriculture is restricted. Organic food are abundant with vitamins, antioxidants (vitamin C, polyphenols and flavonoids), minerals and dry matter content. Regular consumption of organic products (fruits and vegetables, dairy products and meat) significant reduces the risk of overweight, of pre eclampsia in pregnancy and allergic disease. Organic meats and dairy products have a higher content of omega-3 fatty acids compared to conventional products and do not contain antibiotics. Due to the reduced amount of pesticide residues and an increased secondary plant metabolites, intake which are found in organic food, there is a reduction in health problems and a positive effect on health.

AB - Climate change seriously threatens food security worldwide, causing extreme weather conditions and reducing agricultural productivity. Increased temperatures and greenhouse gas emissions are the main drivers of these changes. While increased CO2 concentration can enhance plant growth, elevated temperatures and other factors offset these benefits. Therefore, it is essential to consider adaptation measures, including the development of climate-tolerant crop varieties and innovations in agricultural practices to preserve food security in a changing climate. Smart agriculture involves the use of advanced technologies such as climate, soil, and plant monitoring sensors, IoT devices that enable the connectivity of various aspects of agricultural production, and data analytics for decision-making. These technologies enable farmers to better understand environmental changes and respond quickly to unpredictable climatic conditions.

AB - The ecosystem is the central object of the study of ecology, while the central object of the study of agroecology is the agroecosystem. Agroecology applies ecological principles in the management of sustainable agroecosystems. Within the agroecosystem, it is very important to know the effect of ecological factors on the members of living communities, especially cultivated plants and soil microorganisms, because the productivity of the agroecosystem depends on them, the possibility of sustainable management of agroecosystems, as well as the protection of all environmental components, especially the water and soil.

Agroekologija primenjuje ekološke principe u upravljanju održivim agroekosistemima. Unutar agroekosistema, veoma je značajno poznavati dejstvo ekoloških faktora na članove životnih zajednica, naročito gajene biljke i mikroorganizme zemljišta, jer od njih zavisi produktivnost agroekosistema, mogućnost održivog upravljanja agroekosistemima, kao i zaštita svih komponenti životne sredine, a naročito vode i zemljišta.

AB - The number, activity and diversity of microorganisms define the level of biogenicity and indicate the
quality and health of the soil. The abundance and structure of microbial communities vary in different types of
soils, so in order to preserve and protect natural and agroecological systems, in addition to physical-chemical
analyses, monitoring of dynamics of microbiological activity in agricultural and non-agricultural soil is also
necessary. Each type of soil has its own characteristic micro biocenosis, and different methods of soil use can
have a positive or negative impact on microbiological activity, which directly affects the fertility of the soil. Soil
bacteria are very important in biogeochemical cycles, and biological nitrogen fixation plays an important role
in nitrogen cycling by transferring atmospheric dinitrogen into the soil. It is performed by symbiotic and
asymbiotic nitrogen-fixing microorganisms, called nitrogen fixators. Amonificators are bacteria that play a very
important role in soil ecosystem, as well as nitrogen fixators. This group of bacteria participates in the processes
of protein decomposition and transformation. The aim of the paper is to indicate, based on the presence of
nitrogen fixators and amonificators in soil under ashes, the biogenicity of this soil at four different localities:
pure ashes, soil under ashes covered with herbaceous vegetation, soil under ashes covered with wood vegetation and agricultural soil, and to give advice on future activities regarding recultivation of these types of soil under ashes. The results of the research showed that microorganisms are mostly represented in different numbers in the tested soils, which indicates variations on the soil biogenicity and quality.

AB - This study aimed to determine the variability properties of four major types of Amaranthus species in
protein and amino acids content in leaves and flowers. Obtained results by ion exchange chromatography in
our study have shown high values for the content of essential amino acids lysine and methionine. In the leaf,
the lysine content ranged from 3.9 (A. caudatus) to 7.0 (A. cruentus; A. moleros), and in the flowers from 4.2
(A. caudatus) to 6.7 (A. molleros). The methionine content ranged from 3.1 (A. caudatus) to 7.4 (A.
mantegazzianus) in the leaf and in the flower from 2.9 (A. caudatus) to 6.7 (A. mantegazzianus). Besides lysine
and methionine, significant values of other essential amino acids were recorded, respectively. Significant
concentrations of total proteins were recorded in all examined genotypes. The heritability of the studied
characters as protein and mineral content of seeds and leaves, and oil contents of seed were significantly high.
The maximum values of the protein content of seeds were 16.55% (A. cruentus), in leaves 20.10% (A. caudatus),
and the minerals in seeds 2.73% (A. moleros), and leaves 18.76% (A. mantegazzianus). The oil content of seeds
was 6.16% (A. moleros). The oil content of the seed’s proportion of genetic variance to total phenotypic variance
was 72%, and it has a significant impact on ecological factors. Tested divergent Amaranthus genotypes may
serve as parents for further crossing. Amaranth seeds is gluten-free and is important in the diet of celiac patients
and contains amino acids, especially lysine, which acts against the herpes virus. Amaranth from amaranth leaves
biologically active substance that prevents heart muscle damage during ischemic processes. Amaranth seed oil
has hypolipemic, anti-atherosclerotic, hypotensive and antioxidant activity.

AB - Plant abiotic stress responses are vital yield restricting aspect in agriculture. Recent technology in plant biology allows research of such stress responses at a molecular scale in plants. Plants responses to abiotic stress are often considered as a complex process. Systems biology approaches allow visualizing and understanding how plant life works to overcome abiotic stress. These technologies have made noticeable contributions to the modern day improvements in our knowledge of plant biology.
So, in this review, omics studies and the system biology approach towards abiotic stress tolerance in plants are highlighted. Therefore, the recent advances in biological sciences, such as transcriptomics, metabolomics, and proteomics, have assisted our understanding of the stress tolerant strategies adopted by plants, which could be further utilized to breed tolerant species.

AB - In the scenario of a new agriculture, breeding techniques are expected to play a significant role in order to increase the sustainability of productive processes from an environmental, economic, and social point of view. Over the past 50 years, new breeding strategies have been developed alongside the integration of various techniques, the development of in vitro techniques, and the development of molecular strategies. The use of New Breeding Techniques (NBTs) based on thorough understanding of the genome of species and varieties will enable the development of new results that overcome the constraints of conventional breeding techniques and their length while minimizing the risks of the first generation of molecular breeding
tools. The use of high-throughput mutant libraries, the development of methods for fine-tuning gene regulation, strategies for breeding virus resistance, and applications of genome editing for trait improvement are all summarized here. We discuss potential applications of genome editing in domestication and synthetic biology of plants, as well as developments in delivery techniques, editing specificity, homolog directed repair, and gene drives. Our discussion of precision plant breeding's promising future in agriculture concludes with a discussion of the challenges and
opportunities facing this field.

AB - Environmental pollution is one of the main problems facing humanity on a global scale, as well as the leading cause of the growing incidence of certain human and animal diseases. Organic production as a sustainable system combines tradition and new technological solutions in the prevention of environmental pollution, both from the aspect of biological diversity of flora and fauna in the agroecosystem, and from the aspect of nutritional values and absence of pesticide residues in plant and animal products. Organic production enables the protection of biodiversity and the environment. An important feature of organic agriculture is the exclusion of the use of mineral fertilizers and pesticides, due to the potential negative effects that can be caused by their uncontrolled use. In organic production, mostly organic fertilizers and biological preparations are used, which enable the decomposition of harvest residues and the release of plant assimilates. In recent times, the possibilities of using allelopathic substances and secondary metabolites of plants as growth regulators and natural herbicides in sustainable agriculture are expanding, while the most important alternative to mineral fertilizers are microbiological fertilizers. In this paper, the importance and scope of application of microbiological fertilizers in modern agricultural production are considered.

AB - Pesticides, is chemical agents for plant protection, and are mostly used in agriculture and forestry (90%), i.e. in plant production. In addition to accumulating in the environment, pesticides act on plants, microorganisms and other members of the biocenosis, and through the food chain, they reach the human body, where they exhibit active biological effects. In this study, the impact of pesticides on plants, soil microorganisms and food safety in crop production is considered.
Pored akumuliranja u životnoj sredini, pesticidi djeluju na biljke, mikroorganizme i ostale članove biocenoza, a preko lanaca ishrane, dospevaju i u organizam čoveka, u kojem ispoljavaju aktivna biološka dejstva.

AB - The Ukrina River (Bosnia and Herzegovina) is a smaller right tributary of the Sava River, whose basin lies between the lower reaches of the Vrbas and Bosna rivers. In addition to being a relatively small basin area, the Ukrina River is characterized by exceptional biological diversity. The appearance of the mayflies (Ephemeroptera) in the summer period of the year also contributes to the biological diversity of the Ukrina River, which makes it the site of this natural rarity. In this study, the threat to the biological minimum and the increased eutrophication of water are considered, as the main factors of disturbing the ecological balance and sustainability of the Ukrina River ecosystem.

AB - Food is a substance must be taken into the human organism in order to preserve homeostasis. Foods can be of plant, animal and mineral origin, and by chemical composition belong to carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals. However, various toxic and carcinogenic substances can be found in food, which originate from natural sources, the environment, or are formed during the food processing process. In the production of health safe food, it is extremely important to reduce their amount in food or eliminate them completely. In this paper, carcinogenic substances, which can be found in food and pose a risk to food safety are considered.
AB - Mineral matters are necessary for the growth and development of plants as well as for normal functioning of human and animal organisms. Mineral matters enter the food chains through the plants making the knowledge and study of the mineral content of plants very remarkable. The study of the content of mineral matters in maize grain, depending on the growing quantities of nitrogen fertilizer, has been conducted during a two-year
period on the locality of Zemun Polje, in climate conditions of the Eastern Srem. In these experiments, a standard agrotechnique is applied. The chemical contents of the maize yield during the two-year period of the experiment is determined in a phase of the phyisiological ripeness of maize grain. Our research results show that, in the average for the examined factors, the
content of mineral matters in maize grain was 1.87%. It is determined that the content of ash in grain was for 0.23% higher in the first year of the experiment than in the second one. The applied quantities of nitrogen had a significant and a very significant impact on the content of mineral matters in maize grain.

AB - Water plays a vital role in the biosphere as a component of all living beings, participates in photosynthesis, a basic life process on the planet, and represents the environment to a large number of living beings. In water ecosystems, pollutants come from two sources, both natural and anthropogenic. The main anthropogenic sources of pollutants are municipal wastewater, industrial wastewater, and water from agriculture. Microbiological degradation of organic pollutants is the only possibility of their removal from water. In this paper, the possibilities of purification of wastewater are considered, with special emphasis on the role of microorganisms in the process.

AB - The basic aims related to a viability of organic agriculture include production based on modern technologies as well as recycling and reusing of agricultural waste. An important point of organic agriculture also implies the exclusion of mineral fertilizers and pesticides which cause a contamination of soil and other components of a living environment. Organic production mostly includes organic fertilizers and biological preparations which accelerate demolishing of harvest remains and releasing of plant assimilates. In recent times, the use of allelopathic matters and secondary metabolites of plants as regulators of growing and natural herbicides in viable agriculture has expanded its possible ways of application whereas the most significant alternative use of mineral fertilizers belongs to microbiological fertilizers. In this work, the significance and volume of the application of microbiological fertilizers in modern agricultural production are examined.

In recent times, the use of allelopathic matters and secondary metabolites of plants as regulators of growing and natural herbicides in viable agriculture has expanded its possible ways of application whereas the most significant alternative use of mineral fertilizers belongs to microbiological fertilizers. In this work, the significance and volume of the application of microbiological fertilizers in modern agricultural production are examined.",
