AB - NS sunflower hybrids are developed primarily for the Serbian agro-ecological conditions while taking into account the limiting factors of the domestic sunflower production. The 2006 sunflower yields were negatively affected by excessive soil moisture, high groundwater levels, and floods occurring during the optimum period for sowing in nearly all sunflower-growing regions of the country. The increased moisture hampered planting and increased weediness thus negatively affecting the yields. Weather conditions in the latter part of the vegetation period had a favorable effect on sunflower growth and development. Seed and oil yields obtained in a network of small-plot trials varied according to location and cultural practices used. In both of the sunflower regions studied in the paper, the highest seed yields were produced by the hybrids Sremac, NS-H-111 and NS-H-45. The highest oil yields in the trial network were obtained with the hybrids Baca, Pobednik, Olivko and Sumadinac. The hybrids Baca, NS-H-111 and Sremac produced the highest oil yields in the province of Vojvodina, while the hybridsSumadinac, HS-H-111 and Stig did the same in central Serbia. In a two-year study in Vojvodina, the new hybrids Sremac, Sumadinac and Somborac proved their worth by producing higher seed yields than the hybrids commonly used in commercial production. Results of the small-plot trials confirmed the commercial value of the standard hybrids and showed the value of the new ones, which are expected to become the mainstays of sunflower production in the country as they gradually replace the currently predominant hybrids.

AB - In 2004, conditions for sunflower production were highly favorable and high yields were obtained both in trials and large-scale production (2.34 t/ha). In 2005, however, abundant precipitation throughout the growing season and across most of Vojvodina brought about high incidence of sunflower head rot (Sclerotinia), resulting in yield losses in trials as well as large-scale production (1.8 t/ha). In both study years, when growing season precipitation was close to the long-term average, high yields (over 3 t/ha) were obtained with NS hybrids grown in large-scale production, most notably NS-H-111,NS-H-45, Velja, Banaćanin, Bačvanin, Rimi and others. Even in an unfavorable year such as 2005, the new hybrids Sremac, Somborac and Šumadinac produced significantly higher yields in trials in Vojvodina than the standard sunflower hybrids used in large-scale commercial production. In 2007, the results of the study indicate, there is going to be a significant change in the percentage contribution of individual sunflower hybrids to overall large-scale production of this crop in our country.

AB - Effect of harvest date on seed viability has been examined in 3 different sunflower genotypes. Harvesting started 7 days after fertilization. It was done 10 times, at 3-4-day intervals. Seed moisture was determined before each harvest. Trials were conducted in India and Serbia. Seed viability was determined 3 months after the harvest. Genotype ranking regarding seed viability, was not the same in the two locations; higher average seed germination was registered in Serbia. There were no significant increases in seed viability once the average seed moisture at the time of harvest reached 41% (India) and 48% (Serbia). Differences existed between the locations in minimum and maximum daily temperatures. Regression analysis showed that highest seed germination rates were reached when seed moisture content at harvest went below 32%, in most cases when seed moisture reached 22-23%.

AB - Used to evaluate the production characteristics of NS sunflower hybrids were the results from large-scale commercial production and the mean, minimum and maximum values of seed yield, oil yield and seed oil content from the 2002 and 2003 trials. Special analysis was also carried out of the trial results obtained in 2004 in a number of hybrids. Based on the results, the following conclusions were made. The highest seed yield in the three-year trial was obtained using the hybrids NS-H-111, NS-H-43, Velja, Bačvanin and NS-H-45. In 2004, high productivity was recorded in the new hybrids NS-H-2649, Anna-PR and NS-H-1335 K. Of the hybrids grown commercially, the highest seed oil content in the three-year trial was produced by Pobednik, Olivko, Krajišnik Miro and Bačvanin. In 2004, the new Pobednik-2, NS-H-1335 R, NS-H-1335 K and Anna-PR had the highest oil content of the seed. The highest oil yield (kg/ha) in the three-year trial was found in the hybrids NS-H-111, NS-H-43 Bačvanin, Pobednik and Olivko. In the year 2004, the new hybrids Anna-PR NS-H-1335 K and NS-H-2649 stood out in this regard. Excellent results in both commercial production and trials were obtained with the hybrid RIMI and herbicide Pulsar-40. The new CLEARFIELD technology not only controls dominant weeds successfully but provides excellent control of broomrape as well.
AB - Za ocenu produktivnih vrednosti NS hibrida suncokreta korišćeni su rezultati ostvareni u masovnoj proizvodnji. Zatim, srednje i ekstremne vrednosti (min. max) prinosa semena, prinosa ulja i sadržaja ulja u semenu iz ogleda u 2002., 2003- i 2004. godini.

Nova tehnologija "čista njiva" -CLEARFIELD, pored uspešne kontrole dominantnih korova, veoma dobro suzbija i volovod.",

AB - Plant height and head diameter are important parameters which effect on a yield in sunflower. Six restorer Rf lines, three tester A lines and their 18 Fl hybrids were studied, using line x tester method. Significant differences were found between restorer lines and testers and their Fl hybrids for plant height and head diameter. Regarding the inheritance of examined characteristic, super dominance and dominance of better parent occurred, and the intermediary too. Tester line HA-48A (188.25 cm) and Fl hybrid HA-48A x RHA-SELEUS (245.10 cm) had the highest mean value for plant height, and the lowest value had line RHA-BRE-1 (105.35 cm) and hybrid L-19A x RHA-BRE-1 (147.9 cm). For head diameter, the highest mean value had line L-19A (19.02 cm) and Fl hybrids HA-48A x RHA-TR-20 and L-19A x RHA-TR-20 (24.55 cm), and the lowest line RHA-BRE-1 (13.10 cm) and hybrid HA-26A x RHA-M-72 (20.25 cm). Based on the results, the following conclusion is that lines RHA-BRE-1 for plant height and RHA-SELEUS for head diameter have the best GCA, and the best SCA have hybrids L-19A x RHA-BRE-1 for plant height and HA-26A x RHA-SELEUS for head diameter. Analyzing components of genetic variance, the nonadditive component played the main role in the inheritance of plant height and the additive of head diameter. The largest average contribution in the expression of plant height had the tester A-lines (83.17%) and for head diameter Rf lines had the greatest influence (58.13%).

AB - Sunflower seed production has certain attributes that make it different of ordinary sunflower production and seed production of other crops. This is, at first, isolation and pollination with fertilization. In our country isolation determined by low is 3 km for parental line production, and 2 km for hybrid seed sunflower production. Sometimes it is not enough, since some of the pollinators could fly much longer distances. Pollinators' attractivety of some sunflower genotypes differ, but influence of environmental factors to pollination and fertilization is bigger.

AB - Four commercially important sunflower hybrids (NS-H-45, NS-H-l 11, NS-H-702 and Velja) and their parental components (Ha-74B, Ha-98B, CMS-3-8B, Ha-26B, RHA-583, RHA-R-PI-2/1 and RHA-113N) were used over a period of two years to study the following traits: disk flower corolla length, nectar content, pollen viability, bee visitation, fertilization percentage and seed yield. Relations among the traits were determined by path coefficient analysis. The simple correlation coefficients showed that fertilization percentage and bee visitation had a highly significant influence on seed yield. The corolla length had a positive effect on nectar content, while nectar content had a significant negative influence on pollen viability. The highest significant direct influence on seed yield was that of fertilization percentage, while the effect on nectar content on seed yield was negative but not significant. The coefficient of determination was 0.8071.
AB - Kod četiri komercijalno važna hibrida suncokreta (NS-H-45, NS-H-111, NS-H-702 i Velja) i njihovih roditeljskih komponenti (Ha-74B, Ha-98B, CMS-3-8B, Ha-26B, RHA-583, RHA-R-P1-2/1 i RHA-113N) u dve godine su ispitivana sledeća svojstva: dužina krunice cevastog cveta, sadržaj nektara, vitalnost polena, poseta pčela, % oplodnje i prinos semena. AB - Effects of genotype and fertilizers on the production and availability of nectar and visitation by pollinators were analyzed. We analyzed four sunflower hybrids (Velja, NS-H-45, NS-H-111 and NS-H-702) and their parental lines grown in three fertilization treatments. Disc flower corolla length and nectar content were studied in the hybrids and their parental lines. The monitoring of bee visitation at flowering was done nine times per day. Nectar content was determined with the use of the micropipette method. The flower nectar content differed significantly among the genotypes, ranging from 2.53 mg/10 flowers (Velja) to 15.57 mg/10 flowers (Ha-98B) in 2002, and from 2.45 mg/10 flowers (Velja) to 9.65 mg/10 flowers (Ha-74A) in 2003. The highest average nectar content in 2002 (7.36 mg/10 flowers) was found in the control treatment and the lowest (6.67 mg/10 flowers) in the 100:100:100 NPK treatment, while in the next year we obtained the opposite results. The highest bee attendance was recorded in NS-H-111 in the first year and in NS-H-702 in the second year, and the lowest in Velja in both years. The largest bee attendance was recorded in the 50:50:50 treatment in both years. Corolla length in the treatments ranged from 9.11 mm (control) to 9.23 mm (100:100:100), while in the genotypes it ranged between 7.95 mm (Ha-26B) and 11.14 mm (CMS-3-8B). The longest corollas were found in flowers whose pistils had not yet emerged (9.51 mm). The largest bee attendance was observed at 0900h.

The largest bee attendance was observed at 0900h.",

AB - This research determined the pollen viability, percentage of seed set and seed yield of four commercial sunflower hybrids (HS-H-45, HS-H-111, NS-H-702 and VELJA) and their parental components (four male-fertile lines and three restorers). The results showed that there were significant differences in the mean values for the examined characteristics of most genotypes. The analysis of variance and the calculated component of phenotypical variance showed that the variability of pollen viability was greatly affected by genotype and genotype x years interaction, whereas % seed set and seed yield were greatly affected by all sources of variation. The greatest proportion in phenotypical variance for % seed set was genotype (56.68%), then years (22.72%) and their interactions (14.20%), while the greatest proportion in the phenotypical variance of the seed yield per head was genotype (71.00%) and the years (19.56%). The correlational analysis showed highly significant correlations between percentage of seed set and seed yield, whereas pollen viability had negative but nonsignificant influence on percentage of seed set, that is, positive but nonsignificant influence on seed yield per head.

AB - Significant differences in the mean values of 1000-seed mass were found among the sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) genotypes studied (eight inbred lines and 15 F1 hybrids). The mean value of 1000-seed mass was 46.88 g in the female inbreds, 43.52 g in the restorers and 57.45 g in the F1 hybrids. Heterosis and dominance of the better parent manifested themselves in the inheritance of 1000-seed mass in 12 and three combinations, respectively. The nonadditive component of genetic variance played the main role in the inheritance of this trait. The major portion of nonadditive genetic variance was due to superdominance. The inbred lines were found to have different alleles for 1000-seed mass. Standard deviation and coefficient of variation were used as indicators of variability. The influence of genotype and environmental factors and their interactions on total phenotypic variance was determined by the variance analysis model for a two-factorial trial with year as one of the factors. Analysis of phenotypic variance components showed that genotype had the largest contribution in the expression of the trait in the inbreds (78.9%) as well as in F1 hybrids (73.7%). Analysis of combining abilities by the line x tester method (Singh and Choudhary, 1976) revealed that significantly different GCA effects occurred among the inbred lines studied. Inbred lines and F1 hybrids with positive and negative GCA and SCA effects were identified. The inbred lines HA-22 and RHA-C-B were identified as the best general combiners for this trait, and their hybrid combination (NS-H-59) was the only one with a significantly positive SCA value. The GCA/SCA ratio was less than 1. The GCA/SCA showed that the main portion of total genetic variance was nonadditive in character.

AB - In this study we examined mutual relationships among eight biological traits of sunflower (dry matter at flowering, leaf area, stature, stem and head diameters, number of filled seeds, 1000-seed mass and hull content) and their correlations with seed yield per plant. Path-coefficient analysis supplied information on direct and indirect effects of the traits on seed yield. Highly significant positive correlations between seed yield and the number of filled seeds were found in all three stand densities. Positive correlations existed between 1000-seed mass and seed yield, but a highly significant one was found only in the maximum density. The number of filled seeds and 1000-seed mass had the highest positive effects on seed yield. Direct effects of the other traits were low and their high total effects were masked by the indirect effects of the number of filled seeds and 1000-
seed mass.

AB - The 1000-seed mass is one of the three most important yield components in sunflower. Using correlation analysis, we studied the interrelationship of several yield components (1000-seed mass, test weight, head diameter, head dry matter mass, percentage seed set, oil content and protein content) in eight sunflower inbred lines and 15 F1 hybrids (line x tester). Path coefficient analysis was used to separate direct and indirect effects of the traits on 1000-seed mass. Highly significant positive correlations were found between 1000-seed mass and head diameter (0.7665) and percentage seed set (0.6026). Highly significant and significant negative correlations were observed between 1000-seed mass and protein content (-0.7065) and 1000-seed mass and test weight (-0.4546), respectively. Oil content had a highly significant positive direct effect on 1000-seed mass, while protein content and test weight had a highly significant negative direct effect on this trait. The coefficient of determination was 0.8302 and the residual factor in path analysis 0.4120.

AB - The effects of stand density of sunflower hybrids on growth dynamics, yield and certain microclimatic factors. The trial was carried out on a chernozem soil in a six-field crop rotation according to the two-factorial split-plot design. The main plot consisted of three registered or experimental hybrids (NS-Dukat, NS-H-111 and NS-H-103), while the subplots included six different stand densities: 30,000, 40,000, 50,000, 60,000, 70,000, and 80,000 plants per hectare. Because a regression analysis was to be used to calculate the optimum stand density, the stands were purposely either too sparse or too dense for our conditions. On average for all three years and all three hybrids, the seed yield increased up to the density of 60,000 plants ha-1 (the increase was significant up to 50,000 plants ha-1), while the regression maximum was at 55,000 plants ha-1. The highest seed yield significantly larger than in the other two hybrids, was detected in hybrid NS-H-111. There were significant differences in the hybrids response to different stand densities. The number of filled seeds, followed by 1000-seed weight, had the greatest direct effect on the seed yield. Since the oil yield in sunflower depends mostly on the seed yield, the highest yield of oil was recorded at densities that produced the highest seed yield as well (in a way, this was confirmed by the results of path coefficient analysis).

Since the oil yield in sunflower depends mostly on the seed yield, the highest yield of oil was recorded at densities that produced the highest seed yield as well (in a way, this was confirmed by the results of path coefficient analysis)., U radu je proučavan uticaj gustine useva na dinamiku rastenja i prinos hibrida suncokreta, kao i na neke mikroklimatske činioca.

AB - The fatty acids ratio, particularly the ratio between oleic and linoleic acids, is of a prime importance for the sunflower oil quality. Variability of the fatty acid content was been studied in several sunflower genotypes (5 CMS lines, 3 restorers and their 15 F1 hybrids). The standard deviation and the coefficient of variation were used as indicators of variability. To establish the effects of genotype, environment and their interactions on the examined properties, the analysis of variance for two-factorial trial including year as one of the factors, was applied. The studied genotypes varied significantly in the contents of oleic and linoleic acids (19.70-26.52% and 61.46-67.89%, respectively). The analysis of components of phenotypic variance showed that genotype determined the expression of both properties in the inbred lines. In the F1 hybrids, however, the expression of the oleic acid content was determined by a year, and the expression of linoleic acid by a genotype.

AB - Increase in seed yield is the main objective of sunflower breeding programs. Genetic variability is the basic prerequisite for each breeding program. Determination and knowledge of genetic variability facilitate the selection of superior genotypes in different generations of selfing. In breeding programs, much effort is expended each year to find superior lines among a large number of tested lines. Genetic divergence has been analyzed in 125 sunflower inbred lines for the following traits: 1) number of florets per plant, 2) number of seeds per plant, 3) percentage of pollination per plant, 4) autofertility and 5) autocompatibility. The selected lines differed in the values of the analyzed traits. Relationships between and within groups of lines were analyzed by a discriminant analysis, which uses mean values of individual plants, and groups of plants and lines. Mahalanobis squared distance served as a measure of similarity. Based on the analyzed traits, it was concluded that 23 inbred lines do not belong to the groups they were allocated in on the basis of the pedigree method of selection. The accuracy of classification varied from 68 to 88%.

AB - Effects of additive and dominant genes and their interactions on the inheritance of seed yield in 10 sunflower hybrids developed by crossing five inbred lines derived from the synthetic NS-S-1 were analyzed in 2001 and 2002. Relationships among the expected mean values of the progenies were checked by the scaling method (Mather, 1949). Gene affects and mode of inheritance were estimated by generation mean analysis (Mather and Jinks, 1982). The additive-dominant model was not adequate for all crosses over the two years. Epistatic gene effects played a dominant role in the inheritance of seed yield in a large number of the crosses. Duplicate epistasis between dominant decreasers and complementary epistasis between dominant increasers were each expressed in a single cross while duplicate epistasis between dominant increasers was expressed in the other crosses. Thus it ensures that sunflower geneticists and breeders should take into account the existence of epistasis in order to facilitate the selection of the method to be used for improvement of a particular trait.

AB - Analyzed in the paper were the effects of genotype, fertilizer application and microclimate on nectar production and availability, bee attendance and sunflower seed yields. Four sunflower hybrids (Velja, NS-H-45, NS-H-111 i NS-H-702) and four fertilization treatments were analyzed. Disc flower corolla length and nectar content were studied in the hybrids and their parent lines. The monitoring of bee visitation at flowering was done on nine occasions every day. Nectar content and seed yield per head were determined. Weather conditions were also recorded at observation time. The flower nectar content differed significantly among the genotypes, ranging from 2 53 mg/20 flowers (Velja) to 15.57 mg/20 flowers (Ha-98B). The highest nectar content (7.36 mg/20 flowers) was found in the control treatment and the lowest (6.67 mg/20 flowers) in the 100:100:100 treatment. The largest bee attendance was recorded in NS-H-111 and the 150:150:150 treatment and the lowest in Velja and the 100:100.100 treatment. Corolla length in the treatments ranged from 9.11 mm (control) to 9.23 mm (100:100:100), while in the genotypes it ranged between 7.95 mm in Ha-26B and 11.14 mm in CMS-3-8B. The longest corollas were found in flowers whose pistils had not yet emerged (9.51 mm). Significant differences in yield were found among the hybrids as well as treatments. Bee attendance peaked at 25°C air temperature and 43.5% relative humidity. Bee presence was at its highest at 9.00 h.
AB - Izvršena je analiza uticaja genotipa, đubrenja i mikroklimata na produkciju i pristupačnost nektara, posetu pčela i prinos semena suncokreta. Analizirana su 4 hibrida suncokreta (Velja, NS-H-45, NS-H-111 i NS-H-702), i 4 varijante đubrenja.

AB - Different chemical desiccation dates in seed sunflower and their effects on seed yield and 1000-seed weight of four different genotypes over a three-year period were observed in the present study. The Reglone preparation was used as a desiccant at a concentration of 1%. The treatments were performed at 7-day intervals during maturity. The lowest average seed yield (770 kg ha-1) was found in the treatment seven days after flowering (DAF) and the highest 21 days after flowering (1,202 kg ha-1). A certain decline was also observed in the control in later treatment dates. The highest, i.e. lowest yield was produced by NS-H-26 RM, i.e. NS-H-43 respectively. Different genotypes responded differently to particular treatments, and differences were also found among the years of study. The smallest 1000-seed weight was recorded on the first treatment date (48.45 g) and the highest in the control treatment (62.93 g). Significant differences were found among the genotypes, as well as, study years.

AB - The nectar content and disc flower corolla length are the two most important parameters of attractiveness to pollinators in sunflower. The phenotypic and genotypic variability of these two traits was studied in four commercially important hybrids and their parental components in a trial with three fertilizer doses over two years. The results showed that, looking at individual genotypes, the variability of disc flower corolla length was affected the most by year (85.38-97.46%). As the study years were extremely different, the phenotypic variance of the hybrids and parental components was calculated for each year separately. In such conditions, looking at all of the crossing combinations, the largest contribution to phenotypic variance of the corolla length was that of genotype: 57.27-61.11% (NS-H-45) 64.51-84.84% (Velja); 96.74-97.20% (NS-H-702) and 13.92-73.17% (NS-H-111). A similar situation was observed for the phenotypic variability of nectar content, where genotype also had the largest influence, namely 39.77-48.25% in NS-H-45; 39.06-42.51% in Velja; 31.97-72.36% in NS-H-702; and 62.13-94.96% in NS-H-111.

AB - Since disc flower corolla length and nectar content are the two most important parameters of attractiveness to pollinators in sunflower and we monitored them in the parental lines F[ hybrids, we thought it would be interesting to determine the mode of inheritance and heritability of these two traits. The mean values of disc flower corolla length ranged between 7.23-10.22 mm. Differences among most of the genotypes were significant Year had significant influence on the expression of this trait. In the inheritance of the corolla length, partial dominance of the parent with the smaller corolla length (NS-H-702) was observed when determining mode of inheritance relative to the parents. Relative to the parental average however it was not possible to determine the mode of inheritance in any of tile hybrid combinations. The nectar content means ranged from 2.08 to 15.54 mg/20 flowers and differences among most of the genotypes were significant. Partial dominance of the parent with the smaller nectar content mean was recorded in the inheritance of this trait (NS-H-702): Negative heterosis was found in the hybrid NS-H-45.

AB - Phenotypic variability for plant height, head diameter, number of leaves leaf area and leaflet dry matter mass was studied in 11 inbred lines of sunflower (sterile and fertile analogues). The Duncan's multiple range and LSD tests revealed significant differences among the genotypes with regards to the mean values of all the traits concerned. The largest contribution to total variance for plant height was that of the genotype x year interaction (76.8%), while the genotype effects were considerably smaller (14.3%). Environmental factors had the largest influence on total variance for head diameter (44.8%), followed by the genotype x year interaction (25.0%) and genotype (18.8%). The individual participation of the genotype and environmental factors in total phenotypic variance for leaf number was about the same (35.2% and 34.9%, respectively). Variability caused by the interaction between the genotype and year formed the bulk of total phenotypic variance for leaf area and leaflet dry matter mass (56.5% and 49.9%), whereas the individual effects of these factors were considerably smaller. The study's results indicate that environmental factors have a large influence on the expression of the traits studied.

The study's results indicate that environmental factors have a large influence on the expression of the traits studied., Ispitivana je fenotipska varijabilnost visine biljaka, prečnika glave, broja listova, lisne površine i mase suve materije liske kod sterilnih i fertilnih analoga 11 inbred linija suncokreta. AB - Effects of genotype, fertilization and microclimate on visitation by pollinators and yield of sunflower were analyzed in the course of 2001 in a stationary field trial established at Rimski Šančevi experiment field. We analyzed four sunflower hybrids (Velja, NS-H-45, NS-H-111 and NS-H-702) grown in four fertilization variants. Bee visitation was monitored during flowering, making nine counts per day. Nectar content and weather parameters were observed at the same time. Seed yield per head measured after harvest. Significant yield differences were established among the hybrids as well as among the fertilization variants. Nectar content significantly differed among the hybrids (3.8 - 8.9 mg/20 flowers), and the fertilization variants (5.0 - 7.5 mg/20 flowers). Differences in bee visitation frequency observed among the hybrids and fertilization variants were in close association with the ranking of the hybrids for nectar content. Air temperature had a higher influence on bee visitation than relative air humidity. The influence of wind was insignificant. The daily dynamics of bee visitation showed one or two peaks, depending on the dynamics of flowering of individual hybrids.

AB - Chemical desiccation with Reglone Forte has been tried in production fields under four sunflower hybrids. Reglone Forte (2 l/ha) was applied at 7-day intervals from the end of pollination till maturity. Seed moisture was determined prior to each treatment. Seed oil content was determined at maturity, using the method of nuclear magnetic resonance. The highest oil content was found in the control, the lowest in the treatment 7 days after flower (DAF). The absence of significant differences among treatments 21 DAF, 28 DAF and the control was an indication that there was no large increment in oil content in the period after the average seed moisture reached 44.34% and maturity. Considering individual hybrids, there was no large oil content increase already from treatment 14 DAF, with the exception of hybrid NS-H-43 which evidently required a later treatment. Considering the time of treatment in relation to seed moisture, this hybrid achieved maximum oil content when treated at 31% seed moisture. In hybrid NS-H-26 RM, however, maximum oil content was achieved with treatment at 25% seed moisture.

AB - Using correlation analysis, we studied the interrelationship between several yield components (grain yield, head diameter, plant height, and the dry matter mass of the stem, leaves, head, and vegetative plant parts) and the harvest index in five female sunflower lines, three male lines (testers), and their 15 F1 hybrids. Path coefficient analysis was used to separate the direct and indirect effects of these traits on the harvest index. A highly significant positive correlation was found only between grain yield and the harvest index. None of the other traits were significantly correlated with the harvest index. Highly significant or significant positive correlations were found between most of the traits, with the exception of head dry matter mass and grain yield, head diameter, and plant height as well as stem dry matter mass and grain yield. The greatest negative direct effect on the harvest index was exhibited by the dry matter mass of the vegetative plant parts, while the largest positive direct effect on the harvest index was that of grain yield.
AB - Kod pet linija majke, tri linije oca (tester linije) i njihovih 15 F1 hibrida suncokreta korelacionom analizom je ispitivana međuzavisnost nekih komponenti prinosa (prinos zrna, prečnik glave, visina biljke, masa suve materije stabla, lista, glave, vegetativnog dela biljke) i žetvenog indeksa.

AB - The production of seed sunflower, like any other seed production, has its own peculiarities and additional requirements that often do not appear in commercial production. First of all, one must be much more rigorous when-choosing the plot and the crop rotation must be adhered to without exception. Also, the herbicides and their doses must be decided upon carefully and the plots must be kept free of weeds all the way through until harvesting. Certain additional requirements may present themselves when carrying out the other crop tending measures as well. Of course, there is also the problem of spatial isolation to prevent contamination by unwanted pollen. Still, the largest differences between the two types of production are related to sunflower pollination. .
