Effect of electrostatic field on germination of primed and unprimed soybean seeds

AB  - The aim of this paper was to examine the influence of electrostatic field on the quality parameter of unprimed and primed soybean seeds. The experiment was conducted at the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Novi Sad on soybean seeds of NS Blackstar variety. Seeds were exposed to different values of electrical voltage: 0 V (control), 3 V, 6 V and 9 V. Before exposure, the seeds were primed in water for 0, 1, 2 and 3 hours. Results of the conducted experiment showed that the influence of the electrostatic field on the unprimed soybean seeds depended on the strength
of applied electrical voltage to conducting electrodes. By applying electrical voltage of 6 V to conducting electrodes, germination energy was increased by 10%, while germination was increased by 5% compared to control. However, the application of electrical voltage of 3 V and 9 V, showed that germination energy was significantly decreased, 19% and 21%, respectively. On primed soybean seeds, the use of electrostatic field led to a significant reduction in seed quality, regardless of the time of primed. The results also showed that the treatment that significantly increased the germination energy and germination of unprimed seeds, was treatment with applied electrical voltage of 6 V. This treatment had a significant effect on the germination rate parameter, but only on MGT and T50. In other treatments, applied electrical voltage did not affect or prolong the time of seed germination.

AB  - One of the most challenging decisions in agricultural production is variety selection. This decision should be based on agro-ecological conditions in the production area and type of production, yield, protein content, etc. However, low-quality seed of the best variety can have low yield, whereas high-quality seed of the variety with less performance, at the end, can have higher yield. This confirms that the seed quality is significantly important, because it determines the success of the harvest. Seed of plant species is a complex biological system depends on various external factors, which cannot be predicted and planned in advance. Production technology applies various methods of seed quality improvement in order to enhance seed germination, and other seed properties. Seed quality improvement can reduce the effect of seed aging, as well as the effects of various stress factors. The IFVCNS therefore applies various methods for improving the quality of soybean seed.

AB  - Prinos i morfološke osobine soje zavise od sorte, plodnosti zemljišta, agrotehničkih mera, kao i od vremenskih uslova u pojedinim godinama. Cilj ovih istraživanja je da se sagleda uticaj različitih gustina setve na prinos, masu biljaka, visinu mahuna i broj kolenaca na stablu za tri različite sorte soje. Sorta Valjevka je najviši prinos ostvarila pri sklopu od 500000 biljaka, sorta Sava pri 450000 biljaka, a sorta Rubin pri sklopu od 400000 biljaka po hektaru. Povećanjem gustine useva kod sve tri sorte soje smanjuje se masa biljaka i povećava se visina prvih mahuna na stablu soje.
AB  - Yield and morphological traits of soybean depend on the variety, soil fertility, cultivation practice as well as the weather conditions in certain years. The aim of this research is to test the influence of different plant densities on yield, biomass, pod height and a number of mainstem nodes for three different soybean varieties. Variety Valjevka has achieved the highest yield with crop canopy of 500,000 plants, variety Sava at 450,000 plants and the variety Rubin with 400,000 plants per hectare. By increasing the density of crops the biomass is reduced and the first pod on the plant is higher in these three varieties.

AB  - Genomic selection is a promising tool that can increase the efficiency of crop breeding, being particularly useful for improvement of quantitative traits. Th is approach is based on prediction of plant performances by estimation of breeding values using simultaneously effects of molecular markers across the genome. Even though all available genome-wide markers are used for selection, it could be expected that markers located near genes responsible for particular biological function will have higher effects on final breeding value. This work aimed to estimate marker effects for soybean yield by developing prediction model and to perform functional annotation and enrichment in order to reveal the differences in marker effects related to different biological functions on yield prediction. Training population of 230 lines from the existing breeding program of Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops, was analysed using genotyping-by-sequencing and evaluated for yield in field trails over three growing seasons.

AB  - Đubrenje soje, posebno azotom, kao leguminozne biljke kontinuirano predstavlja istraživacki izazov. Primena mikroelemenata, kobalta i molibdena utiče stimulativno na intezitet azotofiksacije, a time i na prinos. Tehnologija gajenja soje u uslovima bez navodnjavanja, uz najbolju agrotehniku na kraju rezultira prinosima koji su pod direktnim uticajem specifičnih agroekoloških uslova. Istraživanje je obavljeno na višegodišnjem stacionarnom ogledu na parcelama Instituta za ratarstvo i povrtarstvo. Ogled je bio koncipiran kao tropolje (kukuruz-soja-pšenica). Rezultati obuhvaéeni u ovom istraživanju preuzeti su sa polja soje u periodu 2006-2008. godine. Cilj istraživanja bio je da se utvrdi uticaj vremenskih i zemljišnih uslova, đubrenja preduseva azotom, kao i primene kobalta i molibdena na prinos soje. Podaci su obrađeni analizom varijanse po metodi dvofaktorijalnog split-plot ogleda sa uticajem godine. Značajnost razlike izmedu tretmana testirana je LSD testom. Najviši prinos postignut je u poslednjoj godini istraživanja. Primena najveće doze đubrenja pretkulture (kukuruza) azotom, kad nisu zaorani žetveni ostaci doprinelo je povećanju prinosa za 3,73%. Međutim, to nije bilo dovoljno da bi bilo statistički značajno, kao ni primena kobalta i molibdena nanošenjem na seme uz standardno nanošenje Nitragina.
AB  - Soybean fertilization, especially nitrogen, as well as leguminous plants pose an ongoing research challenge. Application of microelements, cobalt and molybdenum stimulating influence on the intensity of nitrogen fixation, and thus the yield. The technology of growing soybeans in conditions without irrigation, agricultural technology with the best in the end results in yields that are under the direct influence of specific agro-ecological conditions. The survey was conducted on a multi-year stationary trial plots at the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops. The experiment was designed as a three-crop rotation (corn-soybean- wheat). The results included in this study are taken from the fields of soy in the period 2006-2008. The aim of this study was to determine the influence of weather and soil conditions, crop nitrogen fertilization, and application of cobalt and molybdenum on soybean yields. Data were analysed using analysis of variance using the method of two factorial split-plot design with the impact of the year. The significance of differences between treatments was tested LSD test. The highest yield was achieved in the last year of the study. The application of the highest dose of fertilizer preculture (corn) with nitrogen when they are not ploughed crop residue contributed to the increase in the yield of 3.73%. However, it was not enough to be statistically significant, nor the use of cobalt and molybdenum seed treatment with standard dispensing Nitragin.
