AB - The herbicide application and crop arrangement modifications are measures that can reduce weed abundance and support maize to compete over weeds. The aim of the investigation was to test and compare the growth and yield parameters of maize cultivated with standard and narow distances and with pre- and post-emergence chemical weed control. The experiment was conducted in the MRI Zemun Polje, Belgrade, during 2014-2016. Maize hybrid ZP 388 was grown with 50 cm and 70 cm row spacing, i.e 59,500 and 83,333 plants ha-1, respectively. The herbicide treatments included: control, a pre-emergence treatment of S-metolachlor+mesotrione and the post-emergence application of nicosulfuron+mesotrione. Six weeks after herbicides application, the biomass of whole maize plant (BMP) was measured, while the chlorophyll content (CH), leaf area (LA) and the leaf area index (LAI) were evaluated at the stage of fully developed maize plants. The Harvest index (HI) and grain yield (GY) were measured at harvest. The herbicide application caused significant differences in all maize parameters. The BMP, CH, LA, LAI, HI and GY were the highest when the post-emergence herbicides treatment was applied (25.22 g, 61.16, 4545.76 cm2 , 3.22, 0.46 and 9.56 t ha-1 , respectively) and the lowest in control (15.21 g, 49.35, 3356.02 cm2 , 2.39, 0.41 and 5.87 t ha-1, respectively).

AB - In the production of vegetable crops and flowers, the size of the growing space, i.e. volume of container cells or pots, has a direct impact on water and air properties of the substrate, nutrient availability, and consequently the plant growth. Reactions differ depending on the plant species. Plants belonging to the gourd family (Cucurbitaceae) have the root system which is very sensitive to mechanical injuries and which has weak regeneration abilities. Therefore, the volume of the substrate in which their seedlings will be grown is very significant in the seedling production. Finding the optimal substrate volume has an impact on the seedling quality and later on the production itself, but it is also very significant from the economic point of view. Therefore, studies were conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Belgrade with the aim to define the optimal substrate volume which would provide the seedlings of the highest quality in the shortest time possible. The cucumber seedlings (Darina F1) were grown in grow chambers at day/night intervals of 14/10h and air temperature of 25/18oC. The seedlings were grown in pots of different volumes: 100, 200, 300, 500 and 1000 cm3. The pots were filled with the substrate TKS 1 (Floragard).

AB - Spelt wheat (Triticum spelta L.) is regarded as a crop with high nutritional properties. Cultivar Nirvana was analyzed on nine locations in semiarid conditions of northern Serbia in order to assess the effects of different agroecological conditions on the organic spelt wheat production, grain yield and yield components, as well as the quality of the spelt wheat. The highest dehulled grain yield was obtained in Nadalj organic farm (3.98 t ha-1) on a carbonated chernozem, and the highest protein content in whole grain flour was found in organic spelt wheat from Pančevo (13.94%). Correlation analysis showed significant positive correlations among grain yield, spike length, spike weight, number of grains per spike, 1000-grain weight and harvest index and among plant height, spike length, weight spike, and grain weight per spike. Our study indicated that growing spelt wheat in northern Serbia could result in higher grain yield, but protein content depended on crop management on each location.

AB - The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of two foliar fertilizers applied on five maize (Zea maysL.) lines. Fertilizers were applied at different growth stages of maize, during three consecutive years (2010-2012) at the experimental field of the Maize Research Institute "Zemun Polje", Serbia. Maize growth parameters such as fresh matter, height, leaf area and grain yield were recorded. Foliar fertilizer with amino acids (FAA) was more advantageous to maize plants compared to fertilizer containing phosphorus (FP) as a main component. Applied FAA has shown positive effects by increasing fresh matter, leaf area index, and plant height in all three years. In 2012, due to unfavorable meteorological conditions, grain yield and harvest index were very low, compared to the previous two years, although, positive effects on morphological traits were observed 21 days after treatments (DAT), as well as in the anthesis stage. The best results of 30% of grain yield and harvest index increase were recorded in line L1 in 2010 and 2011. The same line had an increase of more than 40% of fresh matter and leaf area on average for all three years. The positive effects that have been noticed in this research could recommend foliar fertilizing with fertilizer containing N in a form of an amino acids complex.

AB - Potato was introduced in Montenegro in the late 18th century. Over the course of more than 230 years of cultivation, potatoes in these areas have been differentiated into a large number of forms of different lengths of vegetation. The cultivation of local potato varieties lasted until the 1970s when massive introduction of new high-productive selections began. Right at that time, work on the conservation of these resources begins. The most important measures for their conservation were made in the period from 2008 to 2010, when 52 local populations of potatoes were collected from more than 150 sites. In order to get a clear estimate of the value of this collection, but also to identify duplicates, a program of characterization and evaluation began in 2016. The morphological characterization of the sprout was made on the basis of the UPOV descriptor for the 11 characteristics of the sprout. Sixteen different phenotypes were identified. Morphological examination selected 23 samples for DNA analysis.

AB - The paper presents the results of the application of two organic pelleted fertilizers Chap Liquid and Biofert, in granular form and as an aqueous solution, to more important characteristics of rosemary breeds. Significantly higher average stem height had plants of rosemary fertilized with Biofert aqueous solution (33.57 cm), compared to plants on variants with the application of aqueous solution Chap Liquid and non-fertilized variants (27.27 and 27.37 cm, respectively). The largest mass of the above-ground part of the plant was recorded also on the variant with Biofert (32.53 g), while the smallest was measured on the non-fertilized variant (14.10 g). A significant influence on the increase of the above-ground mass showed a variant of fertilization with Chap Liquid solution (22.22 g). A significantly higher root mass was determined on variants with the application of the aqueous solution of Chap Liquid and Biofert, as well as Chap Liquid pellets (41.70, 39.53 and 38.73 g, respectively), relative to the root mass of rosemary plants on non-fertilized variants (31.27 g).

AB - This paper presents results of study of the influence of 4 different organic fertilizers
(Chap liquid, Biofert, Guano and Stallatico jolly) on some of the most important
productive traits of lavender seedlings. All fertilizers were applied once, except Chap
Liquid which was applied twice. Two control variants were included in the
experiment: one that was not fertilized and the other one where the organic-mineral
fertilizer Sapro elixir was applied. The studies of influence of organic fertilizers at
the height of the stems, weight of the above ground part and the mass of roots of the
lavender seedlings was done in greenhouse. The highest average height of lavender
seedlings was measured on a control variant fertilized with organo-mineral fertilizer
Sapro elixir (25.5 cm) as well as variants where Chap fluid was applied twice - 24.8
cm and variant Biofert - 24.6 cm. Plants with the lowest stem height were measured
on non fertilized control - 19.6 cm. All variants where organic fertilizer was applied
had statistically significantly higher stem compared to plants grown in non fertilized
control. In the Biofert variant was measured the largest average weight of the above
ground part of the plant - 22.9 g, while the lowest was in non-fertilized control - 12.1
g. The average weight of the above ground part of the plant treated with organic
fertilizers was significantly higher than in non fertilized control. The weight of the
above ground part of the plant of lavender seedlings fertilized with Biofert was
statistically higher than all other fertilized variants, but also higher than control
variants fertilized with organo-mineral fertilizer.

AB - This study examines the impact of organic growing technologies on the rhizosphere microflora value and grain yield alternative types of wheat. Research is based on three varieties of different alternative types of wheat (Triticum spelta, Triticum compactum and Triticum durum) and one conventional variety of ordinary soft wheat (Triticum vulgare). The experiment was set up on less carbonate-chernozem, according to the random block design with four replicates for each treatment (F-1-microbiological fertilizer, F-2-the combined use of microbiological fertilizer and organic fertilizer, F-0-control (no fertilizer application)). Research results showed that fertilization significantly influenced the increase in the total number of microorganisms to the level of 3.7% and 28%, and the number of Azotobacter to the level of 2.8% and 19.1%, with the proven higher efficiency of mixed application of fertilizers. Analysis of variance of the total number of microorganisms and Azotobacter showed a statistically significant difference between the tested varieties. Grain yield of spelt (4,540 kg ha(-1)) was significantly higher compared to other varieties. The greatest variation in yield in the three-year period was noted for conventional variety ordinary soft wheat. The examined variants of fertilization had a significant effect on increasing grain yield, from the level of 13.9% to 36.4%.

AB - The objective of this study was to determine the effects of maize gluten on the weeds number and dry biomass in the maize and soybean experiment. Pre-emergence maize gluten application resulted with an effective weed control in maize, whereas the soybean had the significant loss of plants, due to the gluten fitotoxicity. Post-emergence application was found to be less successful compared with pre-emergence application particularly for soybean. Panicum cruss-galli L. was the most frequent weed in the both experiment. Maize gluten rate of 300 g m2 could be recommended in control of the broad leaf weeds in maize cropping as an alternative herbicide thus a substitute for mineral nitrogen. Our research can contribute to the improvement of the weed control in sustainable cropping systems.

AB - The aim of this study, which was conducted in field conditions on three localities in Serbia during two years, was to investigate the influence of the application of various types of fertilizers on the essential oil content in caraway, anise and coriander fruits. The influence of four organic fertilizers was investigated: two microbiological fertilizers (Slavol and Bactofil B-10), two specific organic fertilizers (Royal Ofert biohumus and vermicompost). Also, the chemical fertilizer was used and there was a control plot without any fertilization. From the results, it can be concluded that the application of different fertilizers has an influence on essential oil content only in case of anise fruits. The application of Royal Ofert biohumus shows the best results, after which follows chemical fertilizer. The use of these two types of fertilizers significantly increased the essential oil content in the anise fruits in comparison with other tested treatments. Although differences in the essential oil content of caraway and coriander were not significant, the two above mentioned fertilizers and vermicompost show the best results.

AB - Stress caused by the drought is the most serious limiting factor in soybean production. Abiotic stress in soybeans cause: water deficit and nutrition and high temperature. The effects of adverse climatic factors, temperature extremes and deficit of precipitation on crop production can be reduced by selecting tolerant varieties, early planting and proper production technology. In the experimental study, the soybean grain yield and protein yield and oil cultivars Galina were examined, in an organic cropping system, the natural water regime and irrigation conditions. Average yields of soybeans ranged from 3,560 kg ha-1 (natural water regime) up to 4502 kg ha-1 (irrigation). In irrigated conditions, grain yield and protein yield was significantly higher than in the variant without irrigation. Research shows that the average increase in grain yield (26.46%) and protein yield (26.18%) in the variant with irrigation were achieved. Oil yield was higher in varieties with irrigation compared to natural water regime but the difference was not significant. Irrigation is desirable effective measure in soybean production in drought years and is a prerequisite for economically profitable soybean production.
AB - Stres izazvan sušom je najozbiljniji limitirajući faktor u proizvodnji soje. Abiotički stres kod soje izazivaju: deficit vode i ishrane i visoke temperature. Efekti nepovoljnih klimatskih faktora, temperatura i njenih ekstrema i deficit padavina, na biljnu proizvodnju mogu se ublažiti izborom tolerantnih sorti, ranijom setvom i pravilnom tehnologijom proizvodnje. U eksperimentalnim istraživanjima ispitivan je prinosi zrna soje i prinosi proteina i ulja, NS sorte Galina, u organskom sistemu gajenja, u prirodnom vodnom režimu i u uslovima navodnjavanja.

AB - During the period 2010-2011 about 2.113 million ha of buckwheat was sown annually worldwide. Average yield of buckwheat during the monitored period was 913 kg ha-1. Areas and average yield have a rising tendency. The most significant producers of buckwheat in the world are: China, Russia and Ukraine. In Serbia buckwheat is produced on small areas. The paper presents results of testing of four buckwheat varieties, produced on plots of the Institute for crops and vegetables as follows: Novosadska, Godijevo, Bamby and Češka. Analysis of average yield has shown that Novosadska variety produced statistically significant higher yield (2626 kg ha-1) compared to the other varieties tested (p lt 0.05). From the results shown we can see that buckwheat yield in Serbia is significantly higher compared with the world average yield, which tells us that this plant can be successfully produced in our agro-ecological conditions of growing.
AB - U svetu je, u periodu 2010-2011., pod usevom heljde bilo zasejano godišnje u proseku oko 2,113 miliona ha. Prosečni prinosi heljde u posmatranom periodu iznosili su 913 kg ha-1.
